Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted March 28, 2006 I DVR-ed Raw to watch 24. I don't want spoilers, but I gotta huge paper to finish and little time to watch the show. Can someone give me any funny stuff to watch for, points to fast forward through that are boring, or positive praise about anyone's promos/matches to look for? I'll have like 30 min to watch before I gotta get some sleep. Edit: Oh and any funny botches and blown spots, too. Just watch the segment with TBS/Kane after the Carlito/Kane match and the first segment after that commercial break. Maybe the Part with Flair about 10:10. Skip the rest. AlaskanHero 0 Report post Posted March 28, 2006 Personally I don't really care about RVD. I'm just capable of seeing that only he and Flair are the only two faces on Raw who could feud with Triple H without looking terribly out of place. Well, Shawn could too, but I'm assuming that he's in fact taking time off after Wrestlemania. Anyways, yeah that storyline could take place at Mania, though stretching it out would be for the best, to give them more time to try and build someone up after they've used RVD, Flair, and/or Michaels (any combination of which will probably work). However, the Draft Lottery will probably happen and make it all moot.

I'll have like 30 min to watch before I gotta get some sleep. Edit: Oh and any funny botches and blown spots, too. The first stuff with Edge and Foley is ok, worth checking out. But a really long spell of BAD occurs w/ Carlito/Kane and Show/Masters nonsense - then a HHH/HBK match that was one of the more just "there" matches I've seen on Raw in weeks - so substandard and boring I could have turned the channel easily if I wasn't so lazy. Spirit Squad v. Venis/Vis/Eugene must also be avoided. The MITB build was minimal but Flair got the mic and did some good selling for his cause in the match. The main event stuff is more just weird to watch in that it came off to me as such a trainwreck and further making Cena look weak (Vince should NOT be doing tieups and strength tests w/ Cena, just bad on all levels) that either Cena has to go over at Mania or he's really just getting buried right before our eyes. Vince parading around and trying to work some semblance of an 80s WWF main event style is just damn unentertaining TV, and really should not have any right being the final sendoff to Mania for the night. All in all just a wrong way to finish the Raw side Mania build, as nothing seemed to be accomplished here other than they are really trying hard not to cheer for HHH and jeer Cena. But its so transparent and the other layer is the reality of the situation in that they are creating those boos for Cena now by just making him look like a joke. To their discredit, neither Cena or Michaels did any sort of half decent blade job either which made the segment even fall flatter than it was. Other than Foley/Edge, I have no desire in any other Raw matches other than the women's title. The tag title match is about as stale as you can get for a Mania bout in years. Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted March 28, 2006 If you want see WWE use their brain the right way for once in a blue moon, watch the segment after the Kane/Carlito match. Its the first time in forever, they did something that made sense.

Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted March 28, 2006 They really failed to make WM22 any more interesting, they completely made Cena look like a joke. Trish/Mickie, didn't really go anywhere and they could have really done something good to make that much better but instead it was flat. Foley did a paint by numbers promo, Flair and Benjamin gave inspired efforts as Benjamin showed specks of a newfound attitide. A cute moment with TBS/Kane and Carlito/Masters isn't worth the suck that is to come. Shawn/McMahon continues to boggle the mind.
The Niggardly King 0 Report post Posted March 28, 2006 Damn, after watching the main event... I just can't picture Vince living past the year 2010.
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted March 28, 2006 I used to think that if Vince croaked anytime soon, that it would alter the WWE dramatically. When I think about it now, I don't think a single damn thing would change.
Guest fanofcoils Report post Posted March 28, 2006 The Raw side of Wrestlemania isn't even good enough to be a Raw PPV. Mickie James didn't do enough to Trish for us to care that Trish gets her revenge. Kane and Big Show vs Carlito and Chris Masters? Yeah like that will sell tickets.. Money in the Bank, I don't care who wins it, and I think a lot of the fans don't care either. Mick Foley vs Edge, a rehash of Orton vs Foley. I don't think Foley vs Edge has any real storyline to it. The feud started 3 or 4 weeks ago and means nothing. HBK vs Vince, what a joke. This "feud" has been dragged out a long time and only "picked up" in the past month, but it has been very lackluster, and I still don't see a reason to care about either participant in the match. HHH vs Cena, very lackluster feud because Cena has no credibility, thus this is no dream match like HHH vs a guy who actually means something who HHH never faced (Steiner in 2003, after Steiner's huge push in 00/01 and Goldberg in 2003 for instance). I just hope HHH wins and then Rey comes to Raw and they do a HHH vs Rey feud because that never happened before. Hopefully WWE will sign Brock this year which likely won't happen but HHH vs Brock is a much more credible matchup than HHH vs Cena.
Carnival 0 Report post Posted March 28, 2006 Sean O'Haire didn't look to be in the best shape. Less defined and a little bit of a gut on him.
Silence 0 Report post Posted March 28, 2006 Trish/Mickie, didn't really go anywhere and they could have really done something good to make that much better but instead it was flat. WWE seems really bad to drop the ball on building a good feud the week before a PPV all of a sudden. The same thing happened last year with the Angle/Michaels feud with Angle just beating up Josh Matthews backstage.
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted March 28, 2006 the show was blah, but the crowd was super hot...Omaha is the land of markdom...all faces got big pops, all heels got big heat...except for the Spirit Squad, they didn't get any heat until their cheer. It was dead quite in our area and I started screaming "Let's Go Kenny!" -the ear piercing screams for Cena directly behind Carnival and I were ridiculous. The white trash was in full force. -O'Haire looked like shit...sorry for any fans of his still out there...he came out to his old music and video, sporting a nasty gut and was pretty gassed throughout...Trevor Murdoch beat him with a rollup pin with his feet on the ropes. -I wonder how bad this sequence looked on TV: Victoria goes for a clothesline, Trish does the "Matrish", Victoria is suddenly completely out of it and stands there long enough for Trish to headlock her, point to the air and do her Bulldog move (Stratisfaction?). I couldn't understand what happened that made Victoria just stand around long enough to allow that move to happen. It's like the women have no concept of pacing...and these are two trained female wrestlers!

Not to sound dense, but has WWE re-signed O'Haire too, or did they just give him a tryout match to determine whether WWE wants to re-sign him yet? By reading this report, it sounds like O'Haire's even worse than the last time I saw him.

I was dissappointed we didn't get the Seanton Bomb, but I don't think he could have even pulled it off, really.

Wrestlefreak 0 Report post Posted March 28, 2006 On Raw they said that girl from Destiny's Child would be singing "America the Beautiful" Why does the WWE insist on having somebody sing that song at every Mania since the Iraq war. hyperchord24 0 Report post Posted March 28, 2006 So, am I the only one who thought the WWE ripped off Ron Killing’s video package? Yeah, Cena’s tough, but he sucks in the ring. See, that’s not going to fix the booing. You’re trying to sell him as a tough brawler who isn’t a good wrestler. Then why on earth does he try actual wrestling moves in the ring?? That just makes him look like more of a goof than he already is. Also, part of selling a guy like he’s tough and he never quits is selling a beating. Cena can’t sell well enough to make me think he’s taking a beating, but has enough to still keep fighting. What he does is Hogan-esque. Cena doesn’t exactly no sell all of a sudden, but his comebacks are, and the fans just don’t buy it. What they want to say it that Cena is a bad worker, but that would be shooting too much for the likes of WWE. Honestly, I’m mad at the WWE. I predicted that the second Cena got hit with the sledgehammer, the crowd would absolutely love it. I was wrong. I wanted the crowd to absolutely turn on Cena. So what did the WWE do, make him face by association. God, that annoys me. I thought that before Cena got involved in this whole HBK/Vince thing, that the only thing that would salvage the trainwreck of a feud that is HHH/Cena was to do a fingerpoke of doom at WM. I know the crowd would absolutely crap all over it, but in this way, HHH gets monster heel heat, and turns Cena, while sort of explaining why he’s not that good in the ring: he’s a weasel. I couldn't understand what happened that made Victoria just stand around long enough to allow that move to happen. It's like the women have no concept of pacing...and these are two trained female wrestlers! Yeah, it was noticeable. Sure, the part right after the Matrish of Victoria just standing there was bad, but it wouldn't have been as bad if Trish didn't point to the air for about three extra seconds before doing the move. Exactly, I was just wondering why Victoria allowed that move to even occure. I was certain she would block it somehow. Nothing happened for her to be stunned long enough to pull that off.
