Edwin MacPhisto Posted March 28, 2006 Report Posted March 28, 2006 I don't think I've listened to that in 5 years. I remember some electronic parts, snarling, and not much else. Memories...
Giuseppe Zangara Posted March 28, 2006 Author Report Posted March 28, 2006 Listening to it right now. The techno excursions are the worst thing about it. Most everything else is fuckin'
Hawk 34 Posted March 28, 2006 Report Posted March 28, 2006 This was an album that I found in my car not so long ago. I completely forgot about and I tossed that in and I re-loved it instantly. I even used "New Noise" in my school's graduation video, I suspect that I wasn't the first to do that or even the last.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted March 28, 2006 Author Report Posted March 28, 2006 WE'RE ALL DRESSED UP WE HAVE NOWHERE TO GO So awesome.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted March 28, 2006 Author Report Posted March 28, 2006 People who are hung up on the notion of this band being a bunch of Nation of Ulysses rip offs should have their testicles removed, by the way.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted March 28, 2006 Author Report Posted March 28, 2006 I'm listening to Talk Talk's Laughing Stock now, but feel free to continue talking about The Shape of Punk to Come. Or Laughing Stock. That's cool, too.
Hawk 34 Posted March 28, 2006 Report Posted March 28, 2006 I see there is a DVD for this, but i don't see any details. Anyone know about it?
5_moves_of_doom Posted March 29, 2006 Report Posted March 29, 2006 Laughing Stock is better than The Shape of Punk to Come.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted March 29, 2006 Author Report Posted March 29, 2006 Apples are better than oranges.
Henry Spencer Posted March 29, 2006 Report Posted March 29, 2006 I can't get into Laughing Stock for whatever reason. Seeing it mentioned here reminds me to try again sometime this week. The Shape Of Punk To Come, to echo other opinions expressed, is excellent.

Guest Gym Class Fallout Posted October 17, 2007 Report Posted October 17, 2007 I was searching for Talk Talk and this is what I found. Yeah, I love Laughing Stock a lot, and Spirit of Eden is great too. You never know what you're about to hear next. I'm gonna take a nap and then we're gonna further discuss late-period Talk Talk. EDIT: I said "tlak tlak" which would've been mildly funny to leave, but I'm already in hot water with myself for "Ian KacKaye."
Steviekick Posted October 17, 2007 Report Posted October 17, 2007 I was just listening to this album the other day and it's still very enjoyable. Does anyone here like the (International) Noise Conspiracy?
Guest Gym Class Fallout Posted October 17, 2007 Report Posted October 17, 2007 Listened to Refused? Fuck the thread title! I wanna talk Talk Talk!
Henry Spencer Posted October 17, 2007 Report Posted October 17, 2007 I never did listen to Laughing Stock again.
Guest Gym Class Fallout Posted October 17, 2007 Report Posted October 17, 2007 Listen to it with headphones on when you're half-asleep. "Ascension Day" is brilliant.
Henry Spencer Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 I did that with Bitches Brew once, and had the most bizarre series of nightmares in my life. I anticipate a Laughing Stock listening/sleeping experience would be much more serene.
Giuseppe Zangara Posted October 18, 2007 Author Report Posted October 18, 2007 The undeniable stench of self-importance occasionally crops up during this album, but all is forgiven in the face of its sheer kickassery.
