Ring of Honor In The UK!!!

3/28/06

ROH

Ring of Honor, the USA’s top independent promotion, is proud to announce its first ever UK tour weekend on August 12th and 13th, 2006. For the first time ever ROH will fly its entire cast and crew overseas to bring European wrestling fans even closer to the most innovative pro wrestling product in the United States today.

The tour will make two stops with the first event taking place in the prestigious Liverpool Olympia on Saturday August 12. The ROH team will then travel south of the country to end its trip in one of UK wrestling fans favourite venues, the Broxbourne Civic Hall on Sunday August 13.

Tour organiser Alex Shane said: “Last year saw the birth of the UK Supershow featuring top US indie stars competing on UK events. This is the next step with an entire US indie promotion coming to the UK for a whole weekend of shows.

“This is not a UK show featuring ROH talent but a US style ROH show taking place in our own country. It will be something that no UK grappling fan will want to miss.”

ROH promoter Cary Silkin added: “We have a huge following over in the UK but the closest our British fans could get was to fly over to the States to get their ROH fix.

“This tour will show our fans that we want to pay them back for their loyalty to the product by bringing ROH to them. Our roster is really excited about this project and can’t wait to show UK fans what ROH has to offer them. We are all looking to impress and are 100% confident that we will leave British fans wanting more Ring of Honor.”

The Liverpool Olympia

The Liverpool Olympia holds over 1,700 and is one of the most elegant venues able to cater to wrestling events in the whole United Kingdom. The ROH fan slam will begin at 12.30pm until 4pm.

The Broxbourne Civic Hall

Hertfordshire’s most beloved wrestling venue has seen the like of AJ Styles, ‘The Fallen Angel’ Christopher Daniels, American Dragon, Steve Corino, Super Crazy, Jerry Lynn and many more perform between its walls over recent years but never housed a line up as impressive as it will on Sunday August 13.

I assume this is the big announcement they've been going on about on ROH on the Wrestling Channel. I may have to make the trip to one of these shows.

COME TO CANADA. FUCK.

No kidding. A show in Toronto = sell out easily.

They should have taken the one night only deal with Christian and used that for a Canada debut. Bring in a local "big" name to draw a crowd beyond the usual smarts and deliver a strong enough show to convince others to come back the next time, eve if Christian isn't there.

I'm going up, with some of my mates, to the Broxbourne show, just borrowed this from the UKFF: -

BritWres has this morning received a flyer direct from the Ring Of Honor office detailing the upcoming tour of the UK this August.

The flyer reveals the first five names to be confirmed for the show.

They are -

"Classic" Colt Cabana

ROH Heavyweight champion "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson

"The Wrestling Machine" Austin Aries

The Briscoe Brothers, Mark and Jay

Also, Chad Collyer has revealed on his website that he is booked for the tour.

ROH UK dates -

August 12, 2006 - Olympia, Liverpool, Merseyside

August 13, 2006, Broxbourne Civic Hall, Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire

Tickets for both events are on sale now.

Hopefully we'll at least get Williams and Nigel as well- then the card can have a strong emphasis on the British style of wrestling perfected by these guys, that will really make the show something different and unique...

The date for Hard Justice has now been announced and it clashs with the Sunday event. Looks like definatly no Joe, Homicide, Shelley, Styles or Daniels for these shows then.

I'm not all that bothered about losing Daniels & Styles however, I was really looking forward to seeing Shelley as I haven't seen him live before and I have never ending love for seeing Homicide and Joe. Shame really, I have no doubt though that two amazing shows will be put on.

It's not like they can't work the first show.

True that, but you're forgetting one crucial point: I'm only going to the second show. I care not for this first show malarky.

yeah cause we've seen how well TNA takes it if someone puts a PPV apperance in jeopardy by doing a show the night before (in the same time zone) You do a show in England one night and then fly to the states for a PPV the next night. . . I'm not saying it can't be done but I doubt TNA would really appriciate it (paging Mr. Aries, Mr. Strong)

According to an interview with Danielson in todays Daily Star, he'll likely be taking on Robbie Brookside in an ROH title match in Liverpool, which would be pretty awesome
