Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2006 Yeah, he said the NBA is boring. I can breath easy if he doesn't come out, knowing the Knicks traded their 1st overall pick.

naiwf 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2006 Obviously, Coach G learned about choking away titles from the master. It's amazing how little output the Duke squads get when they lead the world in All-Americans on their rosters year after year.

therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2006 Personally I cannot wait for next season since I'll be a Nova student and will have a decent shot at scoring tickets, I will definitely get the games at the Wachovia Center, I'll probably need some luck to get tickets for the Big 5 games. Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2006 Isn't he quoted as saying the NBA sucks? Yeah, Noah's coming back. He's saying that now. Wait until there's agents, friends, and potential hanger ons start getting in his ear. He may end up being the exception because his family is not a hardship case, but that talk of potentially being number 1 may supercede his comments. Remember last year Sean May saying he was going to try to convince his Tar Heel teammates to stay to defend the national championship and like 2 months later he and those same teammates all decalred for the draft. I also think it's hilarious that Jordan Farmar is considering declaring for the draft. He's not bad, but he does not look like pro ball material at all. Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2006 Army women's basketball coach Maggie Dixon, who led the Black Knights to their NCAA Tournament debut last month, has died. She was 28. Jim O'Connell, a spokesman for the Westchester County medical examiner's office, confirmed that Dixon died Thursday at 3:10 p.m. EDT. An autopsy was scheduled for Friday. Dixon was hospitalized in critical condition Thursday after suffering an "arrhythmic episode to her heart" Wednesday at the U.S. Military Academy, said her older brother, Pittsburgh men's basketball coach Jamie Dixon. Heart Arrhythmia Any disturbance in the normal beating pattern of the heart is called an arrhythmia, or irregular heartbeat. There are two main categories of arrhythmia: tachycardia, meaning too fast a heartbeat, and bradycardia, meaning too slow a heartbeat. (Both conditions refer only to exceptional elevations or depressions of heart rate, not to the normal variance that occurs throughout the day depending on whether you are resting or active.) More information on heart arrhythmia can be found on WebMD.com. Dixon said his sister collapsed and was taken to the intensive care unit of Westchester Medical Center. "She ... went to the house of a friend for afternoon tea where she said she wasn't feeling good and she collapsed," said Dixon, who read a prepared statement from the hospital. He said he had breakfast with his sister earlier Wednesday and that she had apparently been feeling well. Army gave Dixon her first head coaching job last October. Six months later, she led the team to its first bid in the women's field. The rookie coach's accomplishment gained extra attention because her brother led the Panthers to the men's tournament at the same time. The Dixons are believed to be the first brother and sister to coach in the NCAA Tournaments in the same year. Army lost to No. 6 Tennessee in the first round of the tournament, 102-54. The North Hollywood, Calif., native had hoped to play in the WNBA after graduating in 1999 from the University of San Diego. But the Los Angeles Sparks cut her after a tryout in May 2000. She went into coaching with encouragement from her brother. "He said, 'If you want to do this coaching thing, do something drastic,' " Dixon told The Associated Press last month. "That's what I did." She held a number of positions under DePaul coach Doug Bruno after walking into his office and introducing herself. She eventually became his top assistant in May 2004. Members of her team were with Dixon's family members at her bedside Thursday. ----- Wow, she was getting alot of press because of taking Army to the tournament and having her brother coaching the Men's in the tournament. That sucks.

cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2006 I wonder, do you think this is a legit changing of the guard in the SEC? Florida has all the tools necessary to repeat next year and as long as Donovan stays there he can build on this and keep going. The last serious threat to UK in the SEC was Arkansas under Nolan Richardson, but he was already on the downtick of his career once the whole Williamson/Thurman group left. The last serious threat to UK in the SEC was Arkansas under Nolan Richardson, but he was already on the downtick of his career once the whole Williamson/Thurman group left. In addition to Florida, LSU also appears to be bringing many of their players back next year. The only senior is Darrell Mitchell, so he's gone. The main question is whether Tyrus Thomas can be convinced that he needs another year or two of seasoning (and a chance for some payback on the Gators) before heading off to the pros. I guess the St. Joe's-Temple rivalry might cool down a bit now since Chaney isn't there anymore and Dunphy and Martelli are friendly. I still don't know how Dunphy will do at Temple considering it'll be the first time he has to recruit scholarship athletes, and Temple isn't exactly the best location in the world to get recruits to come to. Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted April 10, 2006 Story. My sister attended the Final Four last week for her work. Some how she ended up at some Final Four coaches dinner. She was seated next to Dean Smith and Lute Olson. When Jerry Tarkanian was introduced, my sister stated to applaud. Then "Midnight" Lute told her "we don't clap for him". She asked why not, he said it's because Tarkanian said everyone cheats. Get off your high horse Lute. I always knew he was a uptight jackass, this just confirms it from a first hand account. therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted April 10, 2006 Apparently, John Calipari may be taking the NC State job, he's been negotiating in Raleigh with NC State officials.
teke184 0 Report post Posted April 10, 2006 Well, the rest of C-USA shouldn't be sorry to see him go. There's been a lot of shit said over the years by Memphis b-ball fans about the other programs in the conference and how they should have been invited to the Big East since Cal was coaching them. Maybe now Larry Eustachy can get my alma mater, Southern Miss, back to respectability in the conference.

CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2006 Calipari didn't take the NC State job after all. Didn't like the academic standards, thinking they couldn't be competitive with Duke and UNC. I would imagine they're pretty tough there after what happened with the NCAA probe there in 1989. I can't think they'd be too welcoming to the Chris Washburns and Charles Shacklefords. therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2006 Doesn't suprise me that Calipari turned them down, that job is extremely tough being in the same state with Duke and UNC. Thye're probably going to have to pluck a mid-major coach or an assistant from somewhere.
