Guest NYankees Report post Posted April 23, 2006 Man..I dont have a good feeling about the Os game today. I wish I could have that feeling as a Yankees fan if I had Bruce Chen starting vrs Homerun Randy Johnson. Nice to see the umpires giving more calls to Baltimore pitching today. Thankfully the Yankees are beating the umps 2-1 so far.
Guest NYankees Report post Posted April 23, 2006 Giambi with another homerun to make it 4-1 Yankees. I think Bruce Chen has given up 10 homeruns so far in like 19 innings pitched.
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted April 23, 2006 Bruce Chen is on pace to give up about 60 HRs...they were ok when they were just solo shots but its getting pretty bad.

Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted April 23, 2006 Watching the Brewers makes me wish the Cubs could play with this type of enthusiasm and/or alertness. You want the Cubs to lose 3 of 4 to Cincy? No, but they still play with a level of energy that's refreshing to see. Few guys on the team go through the motions. Their pitching and defense leaves a lot to be desired, but their offense is still a fun one to watch. I'll reiterate how good the Reds could be if that had any pitching. naiwf 0 Report post Posted April 23, 2006 Apparently Ryan Howard cleared the Batters' eye at Citizens Bank Park today. There's video of the 496 foot shot at MLB.com, but I don't think you see where the ball lands. That's how far he hit it.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted April 23, 2006 The Brewers, also seem to have an ownership that wants to improve and win. I am not so sure that Chicago's owners have the same desire. They know fans will show up regardless. They've sunk more cash into the team than in recent years, which is an improvement. But when you consider that they're also finding more ways to increase profits annually, there's no reason not to put more into the team. As it is, they've also spent money on some questionable entities (i.e. Rusch and Perez, two replacement level players). It's not just about spending money, but spending it wisely. Guest NYankees Report post Posted April 23, 2006 Victor Zambrano is a piece of shit. That is all. Aren't you happy that the mets traded Scott Kazmir for him. Rick Peterson did say he could work with Zambrano and change him. I cant believe the Mets traded their top pitching blue chip prospect for him. Guy had nobody on base and 2 outs with the pitcher coming up and he loads the bases to give up a grand slam to Giles. Talk about being horrible. I dont think the Mets can ever go on a true winning streak with Zambrano scheduled to pitch every 5 days.

Guest NYankees Report post Posted April 23, 2006 Chavez with a big hit for the mets to make it a 5-4 ballgame. Good job by the Mets to get back into this game and great base running by Delgado. Edit The mets have loaded the bases again as Jose Reyes earned a very rare walk.

I dont think the Mets can ever go on a true winning streak with Zambrano scheduled to pitch every 5 days. That's going to be one of those trades that looks even worse 10 years from now. Peterson also didn't like Jae Seo who was one of the most reliable arms the Mets had last year. It makes you wonder what the hell he sees in Zambrano that no one else does. Victor's the only guy on the team that I hope sees significant DL time every year.

NYU 0 Report post Posted April 23, 2006 Mets rallying for four runs. Check. Bases loaded. Check. Kaz Matsui. Check. Strikes out swinging. Goes without question. Matsui and Zambrano need to go immediately. Both are actively harming the team more than anything else. Jose Reyes should not be sacrificed so Matsui can get some playing time he will ultimately do nothing with anyway.
Bored 0 Report post Posted April 23, 2006 Why do I even watch the A's the first two months of the season? I hope I end up in a two month long coma next April. Billy Beane's shit don't work in April, May, and October! Also the Esteban Loaiza deal may have been Beane's worst move to date. I saw no logic in giving someone as inconsistent as him in his mid 30's a three-year deal worth $22 million. He's looked awful and his fastball is topping in the high-80s. Today he left with a shoulder injury which may end up being a blessing in disguise for the rotation but the contract has little chance of not being an albatross. At least you dont have Carla Pavano and her being out on the dl with and injured ass. Also be thankful for not having Jaret Wright on your pitching staff as well. Thankfully this bum can be bought out after this year for spending too much time on the dl.

Few figured either guy would live up to their 2004 season, which made the contract figures that much more ridiculous. Loiaza may not be panning out, but considering what Beane dropped on him, it's not the end of the world.
Conspiracy_Victim 0 Report post Posted April 24, 2006 I remember when Eric Anthony hit one into the upper deck of the Astrodome, but Howard's homer might be the longest I've ever seen in a game. Absolutely destroyed that pitch.
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted April 24, 2006 I remember when Eric Anthony hit one into the upper deck of the Astrodome, but Howard's homer might be the longest I've ever seen in a game. Absolutely destroyed that pitch. I saw Adam Dunn crush a ball at GAB that easily cleared 500 ft and was said to land just feet from the banks of the Ohio River.
