Golgo 13 Posted May 8, 2006 Report Posted May 8, 2006 If they didn't fix clipping and animations (among a myriad of other problems) for the later PS2 iterations, what makes one think they'll do it now. SvR 2006 is probably my last until they show some real progress beyond glorified aisle fighting, which is all fighting in the crowd really is, let's face it.
Molotov The Bear Posted May 8, 2006 Report Posted May 8, 2006 The demo video for SvR 07 was just awful. Nice shiny characters, but watching Angle repeatedly go through cena while trying to grapple him and the delayed collision detection with the punches and moves...yikes.
devo Posted May 8, 2006 Report Posted May 8, 2006 Is anybody else watching (or trying to watch) Sony's press conference through Gamespot? The player seems to be working fine, but all I'm getting a is a placeholder screen with the Gamestop logo and the words "Stay Tuned". Just seeing if it's the same for anyone else.
Cartman Posted May 8, 2006 Report Posted May 8, 2006 My my Nintendo is smart. Announce a ridiculous name for your system and gain instand fanboy love all of the sudden. Well at lease it can help Sony obliterate Microshit quicker.
AndrewTS Posted May 8, 2006 Report Posted May 8, 2006 My my Nintendo is smart. Announce a ridiculous name for your system and gain instand fanboy love all of the sudden. Well at lease it can help Sony obliterate Microshit quicker. Wouldn't "microshit" be a compliment, indicating there is very little shitty about them?
KingPK Posted May 8, 2006 Author Report Posted May 8, 2006 It's everyone. It's supposedly been delayed. Actually, it's on at 6PM Pacific time, which would be 9PM Eastern and 8PM Central time. EDIT: Uh, never mind. It's starting now, I guess. I guess the 6 PDT time is for IGN's webcast after the conference is over. EDIT 2: Or not. I'm gonna shut up now.
Golgo 13 Posted May 8, 2006 Report Posted May 8, 2006 The love for Nintendo isn't really that sudden. People have been hyped since the controller and its possibilities were revealed, name be damned. Those fanboys were already convinced and ready to praise Nintendo. Nintendo's publicity strategy this round is very wise, however. The Sony conference is starting right now, by the way. Lotsa PR bullshit thus far. Only really relevant points are full backwards compatability and shipping with an HDD.
devo Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 This has been pretty underwhelming so far. The FF7 technical demo was far more interesting than this GT4 technical demo. And I don't even like FF7 all that much.
Golgo 13 Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 It had some really nice canyons? I got nothing. Now CARD BATTLING~
Golgo 13 Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 MySpace was cited when talking about improvements to the online community. I'm scared.
Big McLargeHuge Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 This is boring. Is this how every press conference is? Great, another racing game. Did they change the PS3 controller? I thought they were sticking with the boomerang.
devo Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 ... So, instead of looking at the rear-view mirror on the TV, you have to buy a PSP and set it up next to your TV. Brilliant. Everything thus far has been met with an unenthustiastic smattering of applause, and for good reason.
AndrewTS Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 So, that's what they're doing with PSP connectivity? Hell, Four Swords kills that. I expect PSP games are going to be playable on PS3, although before they can really get economies of scale working for them, announcing it now would kill the PSP dead.
UZI Suicide Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 This is boring. Is this how every press conference is? They're never very exciting.
devo Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 David Schwimmer is Pitfall Harry! Coming this Fall.
Big McLargeHuge Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 Heh. Seriously, all the protagonists in games today are spikey haired white guys. Feed is gone for me.
devo Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 Well, at the very least, I'm excited about Tekken 6, Virtua Tennis 3, and, to a lesser extent, VF5.
AndrewTS Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 Heh. Seriously, all the protagonists in games today are spikey haired white guys. Feed is gone for me. Blame Nomura and Toriyama. That chick is, just like Ashe, basically Yuna with a headswap. Nomura is such a pathetic hack as a character designer.
Invictus Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 It's still very, very obvious what is real-time and what is pre-rendered in these videos. I especially like how they added the cross-hairs in on that "Eight Days" game to make it seem like it was real-time, yet they had cut-scene camera angles in the MIDDLE of a supposed fire-fight.
devo Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 So, FFXIII's main character is Yuna and Leon combined. Okay. Edit: LOL @ Solid Snake ---> Old Snake
AndrewTS Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 So, FFXIII's main character is Yuna and Leon combined. Okay. Edit: LOL @ Solid Snake ---> Old Snake Those of us not watching don't get it. Flaccid Snake would work.
Invictus Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 HAHAHAHAHAHA! They've got a big set of balls on them, doing this with the controller.
Big McLargeHuge Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 They did change the controller, and now it's got tilt detection stuff. Sticking it to Nintendo, I see.
Invictus Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 "It's a fantastic innovation, Ken." We totally came up with this first. That's Sony. First. Yes. I love how smug and happy Ken looked, as if he actually came up with this idea. I cannot believe how blatant this is. I feel like I want to vomit.
devo Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 At first, I was just happy that they ditched the Boomerang design. This is really pissing me off to no end. $500 and $600 dollars at launch. Fuck you, Sony.
