TWiB #6: May 8 - May 14

Recommended Posts

I've said it already but the Mets are going back to their old ways. They're swinging at anything and everything, bailing pitchers out with terrible AB's with MOB, and giving up homerun after homerun

Rickie Weeks makes error # 12 in game 32. Damn he sucks, but at least the Mets finally have a chance to scratch out some runs here.

Why is it when it comes to the NL no one pitches to Bonds with the game on the line, but you know it's totally cool to get beat by Howard, Pujols etc?

People don't *always* try to pitch around Bonds. The reason why he gets walked so much is because everyone paints the corners and won't get the call, even if it's a strike.

Smoltz is one of the few pitchers I've seen this year that's actually gotten the benefit of the doubt.

.222-5-12

.302-12-27

.336-19-48

I'm just saying, Bonds isn't Bonds anymore, but why get beat twice by Howard in the same game or by Pujols period?

The Mets likely won't even last until next Saturday with the NL East at this rate. Woo.

Turn-BLOWN!

What's with all the unnecessary diving catches by Brewers outfielders? There were 2 the other night by Jenkins, and that one there by Clark. I missed last night's game entirely, but if you guys do that regularly someone's going to get hurt.

Two hits, no runs and 91 pitches. That's all the Cubs can muster from CLAY HENSLEY? Pathetic. What an abortion of a team. But I guess that's what you can expect when your 1-2 "punch" are around or below an OBP of .300, Neifi Perez is in your lineup, Matt Murton is batting seventh, and your big boppers aren't doing anything.

It's even more annoying to see this staff give up TEN walks. I'm starting to think Rothschild is a problem, too.

Of course Wright decides to make an error on a routine grounder in the 9th just because it's been a while since one of his errors cost us a run/win.

Yeah. On the road Vs. St. Louis. That's better.

You're right, but I predicted Saturday a few days ago and was told I was being hasty. A loss here, and we'll probably be 2 GB by the time we play you guys again.

Until today Howard only had one home run off left handed pitchers.

Yeah but he'd hit 5 HR's in his last 33 AB's (9 games) before crushing two in two chances today. It's not like he doesn't have that fat boy strength to take anyone deep.

Rickie Weeks is an idiot, he just got gunned down trying to take 2nd when he was representing the winning run standing on first wth only 1 out.

Of course, that noted slugger Bill Hall just took Chad Bradford deep, so the point is moot. Why use Wagner in a non save situation when we can have our lead cut to 1 game in the East instead? I'd like to nominate Willie for Top 5 worst managers in the game.

This Nomar signing has been nothing short of awesome. .424 OBP going into today's game.

Make no mistake; Nomar's still a great hitter. It's just the injuries have left him a constant question mark. I give props to Hendry for not re-signing him, even though it's his fault for not getting a suitable replacement.

And what a first inning in Minnesota. It was getting comical there for a bit. I think the Twins sorta hit themselves out of that inning, since everyone was going after the first pitch after the string of first-pitch hits.

I know. I'm still scared about him getting hurt, but at least he's productive when he's healthy.

I was at Miller Park today...what a great game. Kind of an adventure towards the end, but a win's a win. Hopefully Bill Hall gets some recognition on national TV for that homer.
