Hawk 34 Posted May 13, 2006 Report Posted May 13, 2006 I hate espn. YOU IDIOTS. I want the reds to win too but you don't mention this until the 9TH! Told Ya. It's your fault ESPN. This is easily the 100th time in the last 5 years they jinxed a pitchers Perfecto by cutting in and it's broken right away.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted May 13, 2006 Report Posted May 13, 2006 I hate espn. YOU IDIOTS. I want the reds to win too but you don't mention this until the 9TH! Told Ya. It's your fault ESPN. The fact that Dunn was 8 for 17 against Lieber might've had something to do with it. I agree though, that perfect games/no hitters are non events until the 9th. The odds are ridiculously long against it even in the 7th.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted May 13, 2006 Report Posted May 13, 2006 Funny thing is, Comcast's trivia question, poised in the third inning, asked what Reds' pitcher threw a perfect game.
Guest Smues Posted May 13, 2006 Report Posted May 13, 2006 MLB.com drives me nuts with that too. I've seen them post a perfect game on the front page before the 5th inning is even over.
Bruiser Chong Posted May 13, 2006 Report Posted May 13, 2006 I've seen them mention no-hitters through five innings if the pitcher is a name.
mike546 Posted May 13, 2006 Report Posted May 13, 2006 Scott Proctor has just been AMAZING this year for the Yanks and has been a savior in the bullpen. Hes gotten his breaking ball over which has really given him another pitch beside his 97 MPH fastball. But Torres used him a lot so far and I have a feeling he's going to be Quantril'ed or Gordan'ed by the end of the year. In good news, STURTZE~! has gone on the DL, which hopefully means he'll be gone soon, with Pavano or Dotel coming back.
jwest27 Posted May 14, 2006 Report Posted May 14, 2006 #19 for Albert. I would make his picture on MLB.com my avatar, but it doesn't look right with "tough enough contestant" underneath it.
Hawk 34 Posted May 14, 2006 Report Posted May 14, 2006 #19 for Albert. I would make his picture on MLB.com my avatar, but it doesn't look right with "tough enough contestant" underneath it. Then change that.
Hawk 34 Posted May 14, 2006 Report Posted May 14, 2006 Great, the LAST guy you want at the plate with RISP. edit: told you
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted May 14, 2006 Report Posted May 14, 2006 I get the same feeling watching this that I used to get fighting Super Macho Man on Mike Tyson's Punch Out. I know he can be beaten, but god help me if he gets ahold of one.
Guest NYankees Posted May 14, 2006 Report Posted May 14, 2006 So pujols has 46 rbi's and 19 hr's so far and it is only May 19th. I wonder how many people in baseball will reach both of those stats after 600 ab's which would make a full season. It's also nice to see that Pujols is on pace for 85 homeruns and 206 rbi's. Not a bad season.
therealworldschampion Posted May 14, 2006 Report Posted May 14, 2006 Ballgame. Phils will attempt the sweep tomorrow.
jwest27 Posted May 14, 2006 Report Posted May 14, 2006 Then change that. Well, I would, but I'm not sure how to. I'm most likely overlooking something obvious, being a n00b and all.
Guest Smues Posted May 14, 2006 Report Posted May 14, 2006 My Controls > Edit Profile Information > Custom Member Title. I would love to see Pujols break the single season record, but I think a more realistic goal would be 55-60, which would still be damn impressive.
Bruiser Chong Posted May 14, 2006 Report Posted May 14, 2006 White Sox got absolutely jobbed in that inning and have now squandered a four-run lead. Of course, this is the team that's been able to not dwell on things of this nature and make the comeback, so it should all be good. And boy do I regret benching Scott Rolen in favor of Aramis Ramirez. Homerism at its worst.
treble Posted May 14, 2006 Report Posted May 14, 2006 Couldn't watch it on TV, but awesome start by Halladay tonight. 3 hitter, throws under 90 pitches, and faces just one over the minimum. Only blemish was Johnny Gomes hitting a homer into the catwalks at Tropicana.
Bruiser Chong Posted May 14, 2006 Report Posted May 14, 2006 Wild affair in Milwaukee with more bad umpiring.
Guest NYankees Posted May 14, 2006 Report Posted May 14, 2006 Corie Koskie was inches away from tying the game for the Brewers. Hit a line drive that landed about half a foot away from the foul line in right field. Wagner was able to get him to strike out on the next pitch to win the game for the Mets.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted May 14, 2006 Report Posted May 14, 2006 That game was like crack. Every time I turned off the tv, the Mets had taken a good sized lead. Then I would check back and see the Brewers had made it a game again.
Guest Smues Posted May 14, 2006 Report Posted May 14, 2006 HOLY FUCK Jeff Francouer just crushed that ball for a walk off grand slam Braves win 8-5 YES!
Bruiser Chong Posted May 14, 2006 Report Posted May 14, 2006 Thank god I dropped Cordero not more than two days ago.
Guest Smues Posted May 14, 2006 Report Posted May 14, 2006 Phew that was great. I was sure after Andruw struck out with the bases loaded we were going to lose. Nice come back by the Braves to pull within 2 of .500.
vivalaultra Posted May 14, 2006 Report Posted May 14, 2006 Well, 'Stros lost. Seriously, the Rockies in the West. Jennings, Cook, and Francis are looking awfully good...and most of the hitters are hitting better away from Coors than at Coors. Oh well, at least every team in the Central besides the Cardinals lost to keep us in the upper third of the division. Hopefully we can get a good start from Pettitte on Pink Bat day tomorrow.
strummer Posted May 14, 2006 Report Posted May 14, 2006 The Yankees have called up Scott Erickson to replace Tanyon Sturtze on the 25 man roster. That sound you hear is Colter Bean banging his head on the Columbus Clippers lockeroom wall.
mike546 Posted May 14, 2006 Report Posted May 14, 2006 Matt Smith is next to him doing the same thing.
CanadianChris Posted May 14, 2006 Report Posted May 14, 2006 I can't believe Erickson's still playing. He hasn't had even a decent season in nearly a decade. The more I think about it, the more stunned I get. Who thought signing him was a good idea?
vivalaultra Posted May 14, 2006 Report Posted May 14, 2006 Alke, or someone who knows better than I, is Cole Hamels good enough to warrant me picking him up for my fantasy team? I'd probably dump Kevin Mench for him or something.
mike546 Posted May 14, 2006 Report Posted May 14, 2006 He was brought in as a non-roster invite and had a really good spring.
Bruiser Chong Posted May 14, 2006 Report Posted May 14, 2006 Alke, or someone who knows better than I, is Cole Hamels good enough to warrant me picking him up for my fantasy team? I'd probably dump Kevin Mench for him or something. I'd definitely dump him in favor of Kevin Mench.
vivalaultra Posted May 14, 2006 Report Posted May 14, 2006 I started out with Griffey Jr. (Hey...I'm an optimist.) and then he got hurt, so I picked up Moises Alou who proceeded to get hurt, so I dropped him in favor of Mench, but I've got pretty good outfield depth. I've got Pedro Feliz, who counts as 3B, 1B, and OF, Nick Swisher, Willy Taveras, Jason Bay, Mench, and Dave Roberts. I'm just pissed that I didn't jump on getting Papelbon before he started tearin' shit up, and I don't wanna make that mistake again.
