I'll root for Italy today after my favorite (Brazil) played so terrible and got eliminated. I guess my Italian heritage has to come through this time. But like Eskimo said, I want them to win like they did agains Germany: Playing offensive football and going all out, not like they tipically do, playing extremely defensive, waiting for the other team to attack in order to counter attack (I'm sure there's an italian word to describe this tactic, if anyone knows it they could please mention it?)

When they say he overcame adversity, I'd assume most viewers made the rational connection. We don't need a history lesson, anyways.

That is like overtime in the superbowl being decided by field goals, or game 7 of the NBA Finals going to overtime and the winner of the slam dunk contest wins the Championship. Or even better Game 7 of the world series goes to one extra inning and after that it's a homerun derby to decide the World Series champion.

It shouldn't happen at all. Like the NFL would play a 15 minute ot and if nobody scores they go to a field goal kicking contest or a homerun derby in game 7 of the World Series after 1 inning of extra play. The championship game of the world cup should be sudden death and it shouldn't go to a penalty kicking contest to decide who wins the championship. Team sports shouldn't go to individual contests to win.
