USC Wuz Robbed! Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 OMG GLAVINE IS ON COURSE FOR A PERFECT GAME!!! edit: Kinda beat to it.
Bruiser Chong Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 Juan Pierre now 0-for-22 with RISP. The way he hits in those situations, Dusty just should've let Marshall hit instead of having him move Cedeno to second. He's got almost as many RBIs as Juan does, after all.
Bruiser Chong Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 Boy, that Jim Hendry sure is full of doo-doo. Braves are letting the Cubs hang around here, but the club's fixation on grounding into double-plays is effectively killing any ralleys.
Bruiser Chong Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 So the Cubs have allowed a guy who is making his first start off the DL to throw less than 90 pitches through seven innings. And what a statement on the sad state of their bench that Neifi Perez was in the on-deck circle for the pitcher in a one-run game?
Bruiser Chong Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 Good thinking, Dusty. Get the leadoff man on and have Pierre give himself up, leaving it up to John Mabry and Todd Walker. I guess Dusty's trying to revive the Dead Ball Era.
Guest Felonies! Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 Shut up. It's a nationally televised game, or at least multi-regional. Of course they're going to show teams with large fanbases. If I'm running a major network, I'm going to pick Chicago and Atlanta over, say, Minnesota and Seattle. I would do the same. I'd rather see the White Sox and Blue Jays or the Cardinals-Padres. Those are matchups wth winning teams and large fanbases. no Canada doesn't count for American audiences yes no
naiwf Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 Mets get the bases loaded with no outs. I will give you one guess as to how many runs they score in that situation. Granted the game should be in the bag, but the Mets seem to be as allergic to the sac fly as Dusty is in love with the sac bunt.
Bruiser Chong Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 As terrible as they are, the Cubs still have an immense fanbase. If they're drawing ratings, obviously Fox is going to show a lot of their games.
Guest Felonies! Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 Postgame on 720: Dusty gave a pointless interview, Jim Hendry publicly announced he won't fire Dusty. I await the call-in segment! I also await the first-pitch statistics they promise us.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 Sadly the Cubs fans are right that they have a bigger fanbase than the White Sox, but the wins more than make up for it.
naiwf Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 #283 for Glavine shouldn't have been that close, but a win is a win and Wagner gets a bullshit save (came in with a 4 run lead and only went .2 IP).
Vern Gagne Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 I know. I'm just tired of Fox Baseball. Speaking of which, is the deal up after this year?
Guest Smues Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 I wish I had gotten Cubs Braves but I get Padres Cardinals instead. Huzzah XM radio and MLB.com radio. And huzzah Horacio getting a gift in that his first game back was against the Cubs.
Bored Posted May 27, 2006 Author Report Posted May 27, 2006 I know. I'm just tired of Fox Baseball. Speaking of which, is the deal up after this year? Yes but MLB hasn't really had any serious talks with other networks so odds are FOX will retain the rights.
Guest Smues Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 Ok the announce crew just slammed the shit out of Ponson for that whole punching a judge thing. I rescend my complaint about getting this game instead of Atlanta/Chicago.
Guest Felonies! Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 I'm surprised BUck and McCarver weren't assigned to call their team's game today.
Guest Posada20 Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 I'm surprised BUck and McCarver weren't assigned to call their team's game today. What team is that? St. Louis or Boston? Must be the Cubs your talking about
the max Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 I'm surprised BUck and McCarver weren't assigned to call their team's game today. What team is that? St. Louis or Boston? Must be the Cubs your talking about Buck's dad was the Cardinals announcer starting in 1765 and McCarver played for the Cards for a good part of his career.
Bruiser Chong Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 These WGN Radio guys sure are Cubs apologists.
mike546 Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 Wait, I knew Buck did Cards games but him and McCarver do every Cards game together!?!?
Failed Bridge Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 I know. I'm just tired of Fox Baseball. Speaking of which, is the deal up after this year? Yes but MLB hasn't really had any serious talks with other networks so odds are FOX will retain the rights. I'd be a happy man if they went back to CBS
Guest Felonies! Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 These WGN Radio guys sure are Cubs apologists. This weekend guy seems to be. Dave Kaplan and Tom Waddle, who do the sports show, are really going after the three stooges now. What team is that? St. Louis or Boston? Must be the Cubs your talking about Joe Buck does half of the Cardinals schedule, and McCarver was a longtime Cardinal. Additionally, Thom Brennaman left the Cubs on bad terms. Everyone's against us at Fox.
Guest Felonies! Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 SWEET JESUS CHRIST 11 OF 27 AT THE FIRST PITCH Well, Ernie Banks doesn't hate us yet. Apparently, Ozzie Smith and Tony La Russa have a feud. That's uncharacteristically unprofessional for Ozzie/La Russa/Cardinals club. Chong, Caller: "Why are you so mean to them? They need some reinforcement." Host: "But they're awful. What am I supposed to say?!?" Apologists? EDIT: n/m Caller: "White Sox fired Von Joshua as their hitting coach, maybe the Cubs should fire their hitting coach!" Host: "Oh that's such a tired argument. Oh hey, guess who our minor league hitting coach is." Caller: "durr i dunno" Host: "Von Joshua" pwned
Bruiser Chong Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 Eleven of the first 27 Cub hitters today swung at the first pitch today, according to WGN Radio Guy.
Bruiser Chong Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 This woman caller right now is reinforcing the stereotype women should stick to traditional women sports like foxy boxing, hot oil wrestling, and so forth.
Guest Felonies! Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 "Turn your radio down" "I can't reach it" "......uh ok"
Bruiser Chong Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 Yeah, she sounded like morbid obesity was what was keeping her from being able to reach it.
Guest Posted May 27, 2006 Report Posted May 27, 2006 I'm sure that with RISP, this is the line that you're supposed to have. 2 HR's, 25 RBI's, and batting .417. I wish I had the stat that Kennedy gave for his late inning hitting, where he's batting in the 500's, but I don't.
