Just wondering, if anyones local video game stores are taking pre-orders yet, and what they are asking for money-wise for a down payment. I know around here with the PS2, they were only asking a meager $20.00 but then again the system was only $300.00......

With a $500+ price tag, Wal-Mart's down is going to be at least $50; and their one of the cheaper places. I'd hate to see what Best Buy is going to charge.

I guess most preorders would be around $50, but I have no idea.

Upon checking my opening email, I saw that we (Gamestop) will be taking PS3 preorders, but not before October. Gamestop wants to avoid that 360 problems (reserving WAY more systems than they were actually going to receive) from last year. The same email also said that as of the most recent information, each store will only receive 10 systems or less. There is nothing set in stone, but the DM says corporate will be asking between $50-$200 for reservations on the system. So, take that for what you will.

Someone at an EB told me they'll start the systems in maybe June, but they're already doing preorders for games.

I camped for a PS2....(kinda long story), and while the experience wasn't all that bad, I mean the time flew by and the people were great, well most of them, I'd definately prefer not to do it for the PS3 if possible.

Okay, how freaking stupid is Ken Kutagari? With the X-Box 360, bare minimum, it's $300, $400 for the hard drive; last time I checked, anyway. So, Sony has decided to sell theirs for even more. Does anyone else still think Nintendo is going to lose this generation of the console wars?

Not until Sony and X-box drop their prices down. If anything Sony will be loosing for awhile until their prices drop or Sony can figure out how to bundle a system correctly, which ever comes first.

 

Look into Gamecrazy's for pre-ordering PS3's. The one I used to work at just started up again.

Im planning on camping out somewhere for a W!!. I have a feeling they'll be more scarce than PS3's at launch.

They're the only ones who will make $ on hardware, and its an attractive purchase *if* there's going to be more on it except for Nintendo games. The whole Wii60 thing is based on expectations that it's going to have weak 3P support.

 

Save for Assassin's Creed, not a single tentative PS3/360 title means a damn to me anyway, though. PS2? God of War 2 and Okami have me interested, and the DS has a killer lineup coming. Sony has a pitiful lineup right now considering what they should be able to scrape up, and 360 is going to have OMG 3Ds/ FPS w/ SW@3+3GUYS WIT BIGGUNS KILLING $#!+, which isn't going to sate my desire for overblown/weird Japanese style games. That the Wii will give me in spades, and Sony is going to get around to that eventually, but I'll wait at least a year and $200 less, thanks.

 

Oh, and can't forget that Zelda game. The GC version is just graveware anyway. I'll keep my goofy purple cube at least long enough to practice up on Smash Bros and replace it with a shiny new Ninwii.

Anyway I refuse to pay this much for a video game system no matter how great it is. So no PS3 for me until it dramatically drops in price. So like 10 years later.

Twiilight Princess will likely be the version I go with, since I'm getting a Wii anyway, and I expect to have no difficulties playing with the Wiimote.

I'm somewhat interested in how smooth and useable the Wii-mote is, but nothing other than mario/zelda impresses me as far as games announced. xbox360 just seems too PC-ish to me, and not enough of an improvemnet over xbox, and ps3, well with that price forget about it. ps2 is still going well, ff12, god of war 2, rogue galaxy as well as a few other games im still looking forward to.

No way in hell you'll catch me using the Wii controller as anything but a normal video game controller. If you can't just use it as a normal game controller then I have absolutely no use for a Wii.
