Arizona is playing out of their mind right now. I don't think their rotation is any good, but we'll see.

I still really like Andre Ethier. He's probably carved out a bench spot on this team and flexibilty to make moves.

It was a little chemistry humor, actually.

Oh....alkaline....basic...I get it now...I didn't expect a Cubs fan to be so cerebral.

Hey, that's below the belt. I'm pleasantly surprised with your contributions; I've never met an Astros fan in person, but I expected them to be more rootin', and/or tootin'.

I frequently root, but I rarely, if ever, toot.

I'm sick of Clemens. If you want to keep pitching, fine, but don't put everyone through this "will he or won't he retire" crap EVERY year.

Just think of him as a fat Favre

At least Favre didn't go through the "FAREWELL SWEET ROGER!" at the end of the season. Roger's done this multiple times. Fuck him. It's not like he has to pull this garbage to get this attention.

It's not like Roger initiates it. He just reacts to everybody else. At the end of the last three or so seasons everybody speculated about whether Roger would come back or not. They built it up, he just decided to play em like a damn fiddle. It's not his fault that ESPN is stupid.

Corey Patterson - 2 HRs and he robs Norton of a game tying 2 run HR to preserve Chris Ray's 14th save in 14 chances. You'll see it on Baseball tonight/sportscenter...

Amazing what a change of scenery and/or coaching staff can do for your game.

And just when it looked like another humdrum Astros loss, we get 5 runs in the top of the 7th against the Cards. 6-3, 'Stros, now...under no circumstance whatsoever, do not pitch to Pujols with runners on base. Shit, if the bases are loaded and he comes up, pull a Bob Brenly and walk in a run. Pujols will not pass Marquis Grissom tonite!

He's almost right in line with his stat line for 2004, with a little less power, but a little more discipline at the plate. His strikeout rate, though not phenomenal, has definitely improved, while his walks have remained the same. The real staggering improvement is in the steals - though I'm sure he'll level off a little bit, getting 17 steals in 18 attempts is still remarkable. Dusty Baker seemed hellbent on throwing the guy in the leadoff spot and focusing on what he couldn't do, but the Orioles are content to stick him in center field and watch him turn in a decent season in the lower half of the lineup.

Oh, and that crash you heard? That was Josh Hancock falling back to earth, serving up five runs (two inherited from Reyes) in the seventh. I'm not sure, but I suspect that bringing in the long reliever from the bullpen into a tight situation wasn't really the best move.

I hear that the Cubs may have some spare second basemen.

Maybe they DID know what they were doing.

And Yanks with some fine baserunning to take them out of the ninth.

I hope the Jays get to face Josh Beckett in every Sox series this season. They've just beaten the poor guy up every time they go against him, it seems.

1.5 games back now, with a very good chance to sweep tomorrow. With any luck, the Jays will be in second place alone by Thursday morning, although that may be asking a bit much, since the Yanks would need to lose both games against the Tigers.

The 'Stros hang on to stay above .500. I'm glad Charlie Manuel isn't managing the team. We're not happy staying at .500, dammit!

While he hasn't shown HR power yet, Melky Caberea is doing an incredible job so far. I don't care if hes not hitting HRs yet, hes patient at the plate, doesn't strike out a lot, is improving in the outfield, went 4-6 tonight, and is now batting .328, with OBP around .400.

Plus, Mariano goes 3 innings tonight for I'm guessing the first time since the 03 ALCS game 7.

I just heard some disturbing news on the local station down here. Apparently, Jose Cruz Jr., son of Astros legend Jose Cruz and Dodgers outfielder, is missing. They said that his car was found on fire and he wasn't in it and now he's missing. Anybody else heard anything about this?

Did Cruz Jr. play tonite? Because apparently now I'm hearing that Jose Sr. has two sons with the same name and it's the non-Dodger Jose Cruz that's missing.

Oh, still sucks.

Cruz pinch hit tonight. I remember Al talking about him being valuable and at the time I didn't agree, but now I do.

Rivera only threw 25 pitches in tonight's outing, despite going three innings. No wonder he pitched with a five run lead.

Ryan Fleming, normally an outfielder, took the mound tonight for the 9th inning of a 12-0 blowout loss in Scranton. Fleming allowed out hit (erased on a double play), but allowed no runs.

EDIT: Fleming also got two of the Barons' three hits.

Huston Street blows another save. This team is Charlie Brown trying to kick the football right now.

More fun, Eric Chavez leaves with a wrist injury and Mark Ellis leaves with a thumb injury, no idea yet if either injury is serious. So even if they comeback and win this game they've already lost.

And the A's lose 8-7 in 10 innings. They are now responsible for 33% of the Royals road wins this season due to the last two nights. I don't give a fuck if they are only five games out first and I don't give a fuck how many injuries this team has had and I don't give a fuck if they were in worst shape last year. They were supposedly put together to win now. It's time to hit the panic button. Fire Macha, make a trade, whatever. This team is a fucking joke right now.
