Flipping Out On Someone After A Traffic Accident

Recommended Posts

Since my "flipping out on a rude customer at work" thread got a lot of feedback, (not to mention I actually witnessed 2 people going off on each other after they wrecked into each other the other day after going home from work), I was just wondering how many of you either flipped out or been flipped out on after getting into a traffic accident with another car? I figure some of you may have some good stories out there re: this subject. If so, let's hear 'em!

Two winters ago, I was driving home on a snow-covered highway. I was going slowly and maneuvering my car carefully, not wanting to lose control of it in the middle of the road. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a Jeep Cherokee kinda veering towards my tiny Saturn SL2, and before I know it, he slams into the area right above my passenger side front tire. My car does a complete three-sixty in the middle of the highway, and I fucking lose it. I just sit there in my car, cursing up a storm as the son of a bitch that hit me drove off without even checking to see if I was okay.

So, I didn't get to flip out on anyone in particular, though I was definitely mighty pissed off and would have done so if given the opportunity.

This happened a few years ago, my friend was driving to the store and waiting to make a right turn at a light and a jeep rear ends her totaling the car. When they go to exchange information, the teen girl in the jeep says I shit you not "It wasn't my fault, I wasn't paying attention". Needless to say we found out later that this was the third, I repeat third accident this girl had since getting her license.

Were you at least able to get his/her plate number?

Sadly, I have no stories about this becuase I've never gotten into an accident. However, I do flip out on people on the road when they don't pay attention and almost crash into me. Fuck this "road rage" shit. If someone is driving 60 mph and doesn't look before going into your lane, and almost causes a serious (maybe even fatal) accident, you have every right to be pissed off and should go off on a tirade. Hell, if you have a mug with you throw the damn thing at the motorist.

I had something similar to this happen to me last summer (though not as bad). I was driving to my work office and was about two blocks away when this guy in a small grey two door car starts veering into my side of the road. He's clearly not paying attention (looked like he was messing with his radio or something). I honked three times but he didn't budge, so I ended up having to swerve off onto somebody's lawn at the last second and kind of maneuver around a tree. Of course, he never bothered to stop or even slow down.

No such luck. By the time my car had completed its spin, the Jeep was too far away for me to make out its plate. I had considered going after it, but I decided it wasn't the best idea to chase it down a treacherous highway in a car that might be seriously damaged (the damage was only asthetic, but I didn't know that at the time).

I was coming home a few months ago and some red corvette rear-ended me and shattered my license plate holder. I immediatley got out of the car and shouted out "If you don't have insurance, I'm gonna rip you a new asshole".

As soon as I walk up to the window, the skinny mexican dude speeds away but I thankfully I memorized his license plate number and reported his ass. I did cause quite the scene though, heh.

This was the first accident I've ever been involved in. It happened about two months ago.

I was driving in a residential area behind two old people, who were going about 30 in a 40. I wasn't exactly tailgating them, but I was close enough behind them that they should've known I was right there. There's a pretty big shoulder in the road, and they were actually driving in and out a few times. Finally, they pull in completely and brake. Naturally, I begin to pass, but then they begin to pull back in for a k-turn or something... no turn signal of course. I couldn't swerve into the next lane in time to prevent collision, so now my passenger door is dented, while they only got a scrape around the left headlight. We're in the middle of resolving this now.

I'd say it's slightly my fault, but they shouldn't have been dumb enough to attempt a k-turn with me right behind them without a turn signal.

Flipped out on...

A couple years ago, I was at work, I went on break down to walgreens for something to eat. I was driving back to work and started opening whatever bag I bought, and not even going 2 miles an hour, and bumped a guy. He flipped out because I bumped him and his kids were in the car. I kept saying I was sorry and he kept swearing at me. Finally some lady came up to us and asked what the problem was. I was 18, but I looked 16 which is why I was. His wife had showed up in a second car and calmed him down, however the guy never apologized for swearing at me, or in front of his kids.

I was at the local community college on the 4th of July a year or two back, and we were about to pull out of the dirt parking area. This guy a row ahead of us started pulling out of his parking spot and proceeded to back into a parked car. Then, he pulled forward and ran into another car. He backs out again, rams another car, when this 6'4 guy comes out of nowhere and walks right up to the guy's open window. This all was happening right in front of me, because I was standing at the back of my car so the guy didn't hit it.

Anyway, the guy in the car goes "Did I run into your car? I'm sorry, but that's what fucking insurance is for." The guy that's at the window says, "I hope you have medical insurance" and he proceeds to pull the guy out of his car and beat the shit out of him in the parking lot while everyone's walking back to their cars. The rammer's (for lack of a better term) face was bleeding all over the white hood of his car.

I couldn't stop laughing.

This one didn't involve me.

It was a couple years ago, in the dead chill of a winter's night as I was coming home from work. I pulled into a gas station and as I was standing there, it was lightly snowing but nothing serious. ahead of me was a older lady also pumping her gas and on the right was a unattended van that had an open hood.

I filled up and went inside to pay up and get some chips and I saw the driver of the van. An old mexican guy wearing white over-alls covered in grease and oil. I went back to my car and as I was getting in...the older woman driving her Lexus whatever, backed out and smashed right into the old mexican's van.

She stopped and looked around and sped off like crazy but I was quick enough to get the plate and I swiftly typed it into my cell as I had no pen/paper. I found the driver of the car and told him that his car was hit and I got his # and he simply shruged and said "It's ok".

It wasn't okay, there was some damage but he insisted it was not a big deal. I was confused, so I wrote the # down and gave it to him but he didn't even look at it. I was the only witness and I told him I would call the police...but he just waved it off.

I figure he stole the damn van or had no insurance and that's why he wasn't concerned about the damage.

Well...that wasn't really road rage I guess. Wasn't even rage or mild discomfort.

Eh, he could've just been a nice guy. I've done the exact same thing (though my car was damaged by someone I knew and they didn't run off) where I don't charge a thing for something like that.

:D You'd probably be really confused in NS Hawk34.

You'd be confused anywhere else in the world, WP.

As for the mexican, it had nothing with him being a nice guy, I just think the guy didn't give a shit about the car that probably wasn't his anyways.

Just ignore it.

Get off your high horse. I've never attacked you or anything but you're on some kind of vendetta to always knock me down just so you can feel better about yourself. I'm in no mood tonight to deal with nonsense so just leave me alone from now on. It's not hard to bully someone from behind a computer screen.

I'm just contributing a story, giving Hawk34 a little bit of a smile and making a point how there are a lot of nice people in Nova Scotia. Deal with it.

Yeah and like I said just leave me alone. You tell others to ignore me but for some reason you can't do the same thing yourself.

I'm assuming they were both drunk.

I mean, the guy would have to be to run into 3 cars in a span of 30 seconds.

Drunk, possible. Asian? Most likely.

Middle aged white guys. Both of them looked like they had money, and I live in an upper middle class area.

thats awesome, sad, but awesome too

this past friday I was in my cousins mini-van/suv whatveer you call it. so was my mom and my cousins 2 daughthers, were at the walgreens parking lot and when we go to leave, my cousin goes to back out, 2 chicks in a blue car parked behind us, back up without warning and slighlty bump our car. so they all get out and the 2 girls are mad at my cousin, claiming they beeped like 10 times (when they didn't obviously). one of them says "well you just dont know how to drive" my cousin replies that she does know how to drive and had a good view since the car is higher in the air. she offers to call the police and the 2 girls are resistsant and are all like theres no damage so the police wont care. so they pull off and come back around and are kinda glaring at our car,.

my guess is they had no insurance.

Not to stereotype, but maybe the guy didn't have a valid green card or passport, making it impossible for him to file charges without getting deported.

That's basically what I was implying when I kept calling him "the mexican"... but that went over his head. As he didn't give a shit because it wasn't his car or wasn't suppose to have the car.

About 4 years ago, my friend was driving my car and I was in the back seat. We were backing out of a parking lot when this guy was also backing up. I yelled to my friend to stop, he did, but the other guy kept on backing up and hit my car. I was completly calm when it happened and I just felt like flipping out. So I say to my friends "watch this" and I get out of the car and start screaming at this guy. He was about 8 inches taller than me and easily could have kicked my ass. I just told him how he was what was wrong with society, flipped him off and got back in the car.

I have no idea why I did that, I think I was just getting some anger out or something

I dunno. If some bitch in the mustang daddy bought hit you because she was speeding or driving recklessly then I don't see how you could restrain yourself. Especially b/c they'd probably get a bitchy attitude with you over it.

Or if you ever got hit b/c the other person was driving like an asshole and they tried to pass it off on you. Seems like it'd be hard to restrain.

I didn't get into an accident but my friend was driving and we were pulling out of a gas station and turning left. This other a-hole was turning left from the gas station across the street. We were already out in the street turning when he decided he wanted to go. He ended up getting blocked by us b/c we were already in the street and waiting for the light to turn green. As soon as it turns green his fat toothless redneck wife says "You know there's a lot of assholes in the world....." in this high and mighty voice. So my friend yells "Fuck you!' from the backseat. Well her fat husband jumps out of the van but we just drive off b/c the light is green and he just ends up standing there in traffic with his van blocking two lanes.
