Hunter's Torn Quad

OAO ECW Week 4 on Sci-Fi, July 4th

Recommended Posts

The guy who nailed Heyman deserves the Lifetime Achievement Award for Best Cup Toss in history. Hell, he should probably tryout for the backup QB spot for the Iggles.

I went to a Nitro here in Salisbury close to 10 years ago, somebody tossed a cup full of beer in the ring during and nWo segment, Nash caught it and drank the beer that was in it. More props to the person who threw the cup and didnt lose much of the beer in it, but still one of the coolest garbage in the ring moments I ever saw.

And actually..it wasn't beer because our arena has a ban on alcohol since the place was built on land owned by a guy who was a prohibitionist and leased to the city under the understanding that alcohol would never be allowed on the property. Sandman probably wont be showing up for the ECW show, or if he does he wont be doing the beer part of his routine.

Some ECW shit from PWInsider:

For those who have asked why certain matches are listed as "ECW Rules" on events when the shows are ECW shows, the reason is that from this point on, all ECW matches are to be treated as if they are under WWE rules, with the exceptions of matches that are advertised otherwise.

ECW Vixen Trinity underwent knee surgery last week to repair an injury suffered on 6/24 at the Philadelphia house show when she performed a moonsault to the floor from the top rope. She is expected back in 6-8 weeks.

As several readers noted in their live reports over the weekend, Atlas Security was not used at the ECW live events. WWE decided last week to no longer use the company. There was a dispute between Atlas and WWE management over how the firm should handle their duties. WWE had been getting upset that the firm was getting in the way of their camera shots, of all things. When Atlas to voiced their concerns over the issue, WWE decided to discontinue their services. Given the angry fan reaction to the end of ECW on Sci Fi last night, WWE might be well advised to change that stance pronto as it looked like it was quite the powderkeg last night.

I believe last night was the final scheduled events, at least for now, for the old ECW referee troupe. WWE will use their own in-house referees from this point on although The ECW troupe have open invitations and may be used when the company is in the Northeast again, which wouldn't be for a few months.

Former WCW Hardcore champion Crowbar was backstage at last night's ECW taping in Philadelphia, PA but wasn't used.

So Trinity is the new Lita and Kelly Kelly is the new Tori Wilson?

HA. I demand Crowbar make his return to Salisbury on August 14th. He debuted on the last thunder taping of 1999 here in Salisbury(infamous goldberg punching limo window out) at a Gas Station literally down the road from where I live. It was hillarious.

You know, I don't necessarily mind enforcing some sort of basic rules in ECW. For instance, it used to drive me nuts when Justin Credible had 5 people interfering on his behalf right in front of the ref and the ref could do nothing.

I think as long as a match is 1 on 1 guys should be able to use chairs, tables, etc. But it's the constant run in crap that sucks. As long as they are liberal with the rules and don't DQ people much this shouldn't be a big deal.

Van Dam caught with weed, has to job TWO world title belts, gets suspended for 30 days...and he was still out there at the end shaking hands and posing in the ring. Say what you want but the guy does have some panache, some flair for the dramatic.

Crowbar going to be a vampire or the next gimmick for Sandman to beatup?

He was a gas station attendant when he debuted in WCW..somehow I think they could work that around to wear he runs a gas company or something and Sandman canes him to death for high gas prices or something.

Dude, it was the Giant who caught it wasn't it?

I was there with my brother that night and I'm pretty sure it was Giant who caught the cup like it was nothing.

I'm shocked that he'd even come back. Last I heard, he was a very successful physical therapist.

That said, I'd love to see him come back. I say let him bring in Daffney also!

Isn't Daffney that tarot chick?

Its odd that I've really liked Big Show in the past, but I *hated* that match last night.

he really does better as face, or at least when he's not pacing the match.

Meh..I thought it was Nash. I have it on tape somewhere but no VCR to play it on.

Im remembering more about that episode where Crowbar debuted. David Flair and Daffney drove off from the local Burger King without paying..lol.

Its wierd how I can connect so much stuff from this to December 23, 1999.

Hell..Kimona Wanalaya was at the show as Leia Meow..Shane Douglas and Saturn were in Revolution..

Did get to see a short Bret/Benoit match though. Only time I saw Bret wrestle in person.

can K^2 even bump?

No she can't, and she recently got a lot of heat because of it. At the ECW Arena show, Francine pushed her down, and it looked really bad, and people were complaining about it, saying she obviously wasn't ready to be on national TV yet, much less anywhere near the ring. Vince is very high on her though, so we've got to put up with her.

Yeah, like Atlas Security never let fans throw shit in the ring.
