If I hear one more "MOVE BRENLY FROM THE BOOTH TO THE DUGOUT I MEAN SHEESH HE HAS A RING" line, I'm gonna lose it. That's almost as dumb as "we need to tear down Wrigley Field because it makes too much money."

Terry Francona is saying that Manny isn't going to play in the All Star game next Tuesday. Joe Crede for 2006 AL All Stars.

The Cubs could finish 50 games under .500, Dusty could get a 10 year extension and Wrigley will still be sold out every game next year. Czech or Bruiser might kill someone, but the fans will still be there rooting for the Cubbies to turn it around once Prior and Wood get healthy.

With Carl Crawford, Carl Crawford on third, Jason Johnson decides to pitch from the windup (taking forever to get it to the plate) and Crawford steals home like he was walking.

New 5th starter, plz.

If Guiel could not hack it in KC he has no chance of making it in New York.

That's a fair point. Every good club has it's combination of superstars and good role players. Teams with many stars have lost pennants because the other players on the club were simply awful. Right now the Yankees' left fielders as a group have hit 257/334/383, and their right fielders have hit 266/326/411. Both marks were enhanced by the now injured Hideki Matsui and Gary Sheffield. The player Guiel would likely take at bats from is Bubba Crosby, currently hitting 217/277/283. The numbers above don't indicate that Guiel as a lefty would benefit from playing in Yankee Stadium.

Guiel isn't a star. He's simply an improvement over the patchwork of players the Yankees have sent out the last few months. He's a low average guy who will produce through his walks and power, and he's a defensive asset. And the Yankees didn't give up a player for him. What's the waiver price to the Yankees? Peanuts.

The Mets win and the Phillies blow a tie game in the 9th by giving up a 3 run bomb to Khalil Greene. It's nice to see order has been restored.

The Cards continue to suck.

Too bad it's up to Millar.

Cubs are clutching onto a 1-0 lead. I think they were threatening to score one in the ninth, but by the box score, sounds like more terrific baserunning took them out of that.

The NY Yankees acquired Aaron Guiel off waivers from the Royals. This is a great, great acquisition. Guiel is like Bubba Crosby except that he can actually hit.

If this guy is good, then why would the Royals place him on waivers?

Unbelievable catch in the Brewers-Reds game, I'm guessing you'll see it as the #1 play of the night.

Saw it and I went damnnnnnnn. The ball bounced off of one infielder who was laying down on the ground and the other fielder (Brian Hill??) caught the rebound and the ball never hit the ground.

We are getting spoiled with these awesome catches. It's getting to the point someone will do somersault over the wall to catch the ball and we are just going to go "That's nice."

Well, the 'Stros lost and wasted Roy O's fabulous pitching performance (yet again.) The entire population of Weir, Mississippi-Roy's home town-was in attendence tonite sitting in a section behind homeplate. The highlight of the nite was meeting Paul freakin' Wall on the concourse of MMP. His grill is worth more than my house, car, and the rest of my possessions. Oh well, 4 with the Cards. We can still go into the ASB tied for first.

Gonzo was just hit by Baez (fuck both of them, pieces of shit). After what Gonzo said last night, we may see fireworks.

"I can honestly say I wasn't expecting it, but I know it was intentional," Green said. "It's unfortunate that the two intentional ones are on that side with guys on our team that got hit. It wasn't vice versa. But we've got a lot more games, so we'll see what happens."

An incensed Luis Gonzalez, dressing in an adjacent locker, interrupted reporters as they talked to Green after the game.

"Go ask Baez and Grady Little," he said in an expletive-filled tirade. "They're the ones that waited until late in the game to throw at him. It was gutless. Go talk to them so they can tell you that the ball slipped out of his hand."

Asked about Baez hitting Green, Little, the Dodgers manager, replied, "I call that a pitcher trying to get a ball in on him that just got too far in. That's all it was."

They threw at Nomar and hit him three times Monday night, which started this whole thing. Something will eventually come of it.

Not tonight, unless Saito drills someone in the top of the 9th.

Nomar got hit three times on Monday? And the D'Backs pitchers didn't get thrown out? Did they hit Nomar because he was holding up the game with his OCD pre-batting ritual?

Choate got thrown out late in the game, after practically throwing behind him and hitting him. When a guy gets hit in the elbow and then on the helmet (hit the bill) something's up. I don't know what Bob Melvin would have against him.

He nearly hit Byrnes, and is well on his way to blowing the game.
