Hawk 34 Posted July 23, 2006 Report Posted July 23, 2006 I think Taker/Khali or Batista/Henry were the original main event but I guess they might actually have to go with the world title match for the main event.
Adam Posted July 23, 2006 Report Posted July 23, 2006 Don't forget Muhammed YELLING...every...few...WORDS!
Guest Human Highlight Reel Posted July 23, 2006 Report Posted July 23, 2006 The WWE can not waste the Punjabi Prison match on the Big Show. That would be the stupidest thing they could do in this situation. It needs to be against Khali, it has to be his match, and it has to be the blow-off with Taker winning. They've done a decent job of building up the gimmick itself, wrestlers not thinking it existed, being brutal and evil, and they can not have the Big Show stroll in and take part in it, it has to be the blow-off with Khali. They've dug themselves into a corner here, as soon as they figured Khali coudn't compete, they should have announced it. Say Teddy Long wasn't allowing the match, or something, and offer up a replacement match. They could have saved it for Summerslam, but now they've advertised it and they have to deliver, or face the backlash. People who buy the PPV mainly for this match will be angry if Show replaces Khali, even if it's not the Prison, and they will be discouraged from buying again, which is bad, because I really think this match can draw and have a good blowoff between Khali and Taker. But if they go through with the Big Show plan, they have really fucked themselves over, and all the Khali build has been a waste. On a side note, Helms is not definetely wrestling Crazy tonight, he said he's defending his title against someone, but he doesn't know who.
haVoc Posted July 23, 2006 Report Posted July 23, 2006 Why not just have Khali work the match tonight then get rid of him? No one is buying the liver damage PR.

Well, with Khali out, they could have Davari inlists the help of The Big Show to take Khali's place in the match sence Davari is the one that announced it, and he could be in Big Show's corner for the night. I don't think fans care about the Taker Vs Khali match itself, they're just curious to see what this punjabi prison match is and what to expext from it. taking away the match I think is a worse idea.
Aero Posted July 23, 2006 Report Posted July 23, 2006 Unless WWE.com actually warned ahead of time (which they haven't) that there isn't a Punjabi Prison match, then they have to go through with it, especially since the "What match are you looking forward to most?" poll has it winning with more than 57%.
Epic Reine Posted July 23, 2006 Report Posted July 23, 2006 Why not just let Daivari take Khali's place? Watching Taker kill him from pillar to post willbe entertaining.
cabbageboy Posted July 23, 2006 Report Posted July 23, 2006 Fear Havoc has an interesting point. Is this Khali liver situation so bad that he can't come in and wrestle his scheduled match, get "killed" off, and then be sent packing? Ditto Lashley...is his liver deal so important that he can't wrestle ONE more match on the PPV before being written out for a while?

If they are being punished for something then taking them off the PPV also means taking away their PPV payoff.
Guest Human Highlight Reel Posted July 23, 2006 Report Posted July 23, 2006 Can't they have them work without pay? I'm sure that they've done that as punishment before.
Aero Posted July 23, 2006 Report Posted July 23, 2006 Just a stupid thing, but I hope they bring back the red, white, and blue ropes like they did in 2004. Yeah, I ordered.
haVoc Posted July 23, 2006 Report Posted July 23, 2006 I'm still on the fence. If I do order it, it's going to be a last minute deal.

Maybe they don't have enough faith in Khali to be able to work a match that his liver problems is the straw that broke the camels back for them to realize it isn't going to work? EDIT: Or it lets the people in the company that pushed him to save face while they get rid of him without admitting they were wrong?
MarvinisaLunatic Posted July 23, 2006 Report Posted July 23, 2006 I dont order the Brand specific PPVs anyway, but even if I did, theres absolutely no way Id order this PPV.
Hunter's Torn Quad Posted July 23, 2006 Report Posted July 23, 2006 Can't they have them work without pay? I'm sure that they've done that as punishment before. I think it's easier legally to just to take them off the PPV.

King Kamala Posted July 23, 2006 Report Posted July 23, 2006 I'd order this if I had someone to split the cost 50/50 with but for $30, there's really no way I'm buying this pay per view even though it sounds decent. The only thing I really want to see is Booker finally winning a World title in WWE even if it is on the C show.
haVoc Posted July 23, 2006 Report Posted July 23, 2006 Would anyone consider it a spoiler if I post what a Punjabi Prison Match is being described as?

Aero Posted July 23, 2006 Report Posted July 23, 2006 WWE.com has the 'Cole Report' where Michael Cole describes the Punjabi Prison match. There's some bamboo, spikes, and barbed wire involved. It has four small doors or something, and you win by escape only. They're still saying Khali's involved. Edit: I'm sure no one will be disappointed, since it doesn't seem like many are ordering anyway.
haVoc Posted July 23, 2006 Report Posted July 23, 2006 Okay, here's what PWInsider reported... DETAILS ON WHAT A PUNJABI PRISON MATCH IS AND INFORMATION ON WHO IS AT THE SHOW by Dave Scherer @ 6:52:00 PM on 7/23/2006 What, exactly, is a Punjabi Prison match? Michael Cole did an audio update on WWE talking about what the match will be. It should be noted that he is saying it will be Undertaker vs. Great Khali. According to Cole, the match features two cage-like structures, both made of bamboo "as thick as a man's arm". The bamboo is "joined by a rope that is prickly and sharp to touch". One structure surrounds ring and is 16 feet tall with four "Tiger-like" entrance doors, which are 4 feet by 4 feet. Second structure surrounds that: 20 feet high. The top is protected by razor-sharp bamboo spikes, to prevent escape. The object is to keep competitors inside and you can only win by escaping the structure. Win by escape only Dave Hancock is live at the show and sent word that they just opened the doors. Chavo Guerrero Jr., Bobby Lashley and Great Khali are all in attendance at the show.

There's no way I'd pay $40 this pay per view. $20 is even iffy.
haVoc Posted July 23, 2006 Report Posted July 23, 2006 Despite WWE's website listing Super Crazy for tonight's Great American Bash PPV earlier today, the plan is for Matt Hardy to challenge Gregory Helms for the Cruiserweight championship at tonight's PPV. Credit: PWInsider Things are changing up to the last minute.
LJSexay Posted July 23, 2006 Report Posted July 23, 2006 you know if I wasn't dirt poor, I'd buy this PPV. Smackdown PPVs > Raw PPVs.

claydude14 Posted July 23, 2006 Report Posted July 23, 2006 Anyvody else having trouble buying the webcast? I go to some Premium Content screen to enter my credit card information and when I submit it, I continue to be sent back to that page with all the fields blank. I know I am entering the correct information too.
haVoc Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 I love how they call Rey "the greatest underdog champion of all time" when he loses most of the time.
