2006 MLB Trade Deadline Thread

Recommended Posts

Guest NYankees
There will probably be more trades announced within the next few hours, this isn't it.

Of course. Alot of teams had to hand in paper work by 4 p.m. eastern or ask for permission to have more time to work something out.

They announced it (the Chacon trade) on ESPNNews.

I want to throttle every single person that calls into WEEI wanting to trade Papelbon and Lester. I wouldn't mind at all to see Coco go for the right deal, though. He's probably been the most disappointing pickup this year (yes, he was injured but still.....)

I'm now convinced that George can do anything he wants, and has a share in both Pennsylvania teams. Amazing.

Wow, I remember when Oliver Perez was one of the best young pitchers in MVP Baseball (that damn slider of his was pretty much unhittable). Now he's part of a package for Xavier Nady? He's fallen pretty far.

YEAH MOTHERFUCKER

Sorry. As long as Guzman isn't going the other way, this is awesome.

interesting deal for wilson. I guess chacon just didnt have it this year and they didnt want to take a chance. I kind of like this move, always good to have another bat on the bench and it would upgrade the offense at 1b maybe.

cashman sure is busy

I rather have the Yankees play Wilson at first than Andy Phillips. Chacon was gone after they got Lidle.

AND WE'RE STILL GOING TO MISS THE PLAYOFFS.

I'll reserve comment on that until after the Marlins series at Dodger Stadium.

The deal is likely Izturis for Maddux. I'm not mad about that.

I don't like the Mets trading Xavier Nady for Hernandez and Perez for several reasons.

1) Lastings Milledge showed weeks ago that he isn't quite ready to start right field on a consistent basis. Between misplaying balls in the outfield and a rather underwhelming performance at the plate, Milledge still needs more time. Meanwhile, Nady has shown to be a suitable fit in right field at this time and can hold his own in the batting lineup. Milledge needs more experience to fill the void in right field that Nady will leave.

2) Oliver Perez?! The man that the Padres had to ship off to the minors because he was actively damaging the team? In 15 starts this season, he's 2-10 with a 6.63 ERA! Not to mention he's been doing terrible in the minors as well. What the hell is he going to accomplish in the Mets bullpen? Give it a week before the boobirds come out as if Jorge Julio has returned to Shea.

3) And Roberto Hernandez? Meh. Not bad. But not good. I understand it's a problem that Sanchez will be out for the season but the moves the Mets made here didn't really solve anything. They brought a "whatever" pitcher in Hernandez and a useless pitcher in Perez. And yet still, they are without the third man in the rotation that they needed. There's too many question marks. Pelfrey and Maine are still rookies that are bound to stumble. El Duque is very inconsistent. Tom Glavine looks like he's lost his touch again. Steve Trachsel's record only looks the way it does because of his run support. And Pedro? He can only do so much.

And WHY is Heilman still on the team with the trading deadline close to ending?!

Lolz. We are getting fucking everyone.

It would be awesome if we flipped Lugo or Betemit in a package for Soriano.

So after WEEKS of speculation the Nationals do nothing with Soriano? WEAK.

There is still time to announce a trade. It would be stupid for them not to trade him unless they just want 2 first round draft picks after he leaves in the off season.

Guest Felonies!

I don't see the Maddux trade on cubs.com, but Walker is gone. This is kind of depressing, actually.

Because we know who's going to get most, if not all of the starts.

Chacon for Wilson is a steal for the Yankees. Jesus.

Dodgers traded Guzman and another prospect for Lugo.

Terrible trade, unless it's a precursor for something else.

Ok, that's shit.

Affeldt to the Rockies.

SORIANO TO THE MARINERS????

Stolen from another board

KFFN Washington Radio Reports the Mariners have agreed to send Jose Lopez, Gill Meche and 2 minor leaguers to the Nationals for Soriano and Austin Kearns. The trade could be announced publicly within the half hour.

They needed someone who's good defensively. Izturis is not going to get on base much.

Soriano to the fucking Mariners is worth a YO

Ned Colleti must be on the Devil Rays payroll. They've really given it to him with no lube on the trades he's done with them this year.

I don't mind giving up Nady for what amounts to Hernandez and Linebrink. Lastings might not be ready, but with Sanchez done for the year thanks to a Yankee fan driving the cab we needed 8th inning help and those two should provide it. There's no guarantee that Chavez won't see most of the PT anyway and he's given us a lot this year. With Floyd seemingly finally finding his stroke I'll gladly take 2 solid bullpen arms for an expendable outfielder. Had Sanchez not been hurt, I don't know what they might have done because we really needed a starter. I think they may try to slot Heilman in as a starter which is why they didn't trade him.
