Going to a casino for the first time.

Recommended Posts

Well this casino has the cards that you put money on and then you play off of the card on the slots. That's hard to do because you dont actually see the money so you spend it more easily. Smart by the casino though.

So today is my 22nd birthday. Last year as was the requisite for a 21st b-day I got incredibly hammered.

This year I've decided to drink but a nice big casino near here opened up recently and I've never been gambling in my life.

So I decided it would be fun to go to the casino after we all go out to eat for my b-day.

I've never gone to a casino before or gambled so I was wondering if anyone had any tips? I'm really interested in playing blackjack and poker as well as hitting the slot machines like an old lady.

Are you going to the one in Catoosa? That has been a frequent vacation spot of mine since it opened.

Dress up and act like you're somebody important with money. A lot of hot chicks go to casino's.

The place I go to in Delaware is filled with old people. Its also only slots..and horse racing.

Maryland tried to get slots but the dumb democrats wont allow it, so Im forced to take my meager spare change fund jar savings up to Delaware every couple of months.

Delaware Park right? I love that place. We used to go most weekends during the summer I lived down there. We'd hit it up for the horse races in the early afternoon.

There were hot chicks there, you just had to push through the old ladies to find them.

Yeah, there are chicks in casinos, but what kind of chick depends on where you are. There will always be the nasty white trash types gambling their money away, but some casinos have a lower ratio of those types to the higher class types. The Cherokee Casino chain that Dama is most likely referencing have a casino on the border of AR and OK in West Siloam Springs. It's white trash heaven there. However, the same chain's Catoosa Casino/Resort is much nicer in appearance and clientele.

Back in California, we used to hit up this Indian casino in the mountains; it was also frequented by white trash. And Vietnamese. Lots of Vietnamese.

Slots are hella gay. If you're under the age of 60, there's no reason in the world that you should ever play them. Poker's the best way to gamble if you actually take the time to learn how to play, but otherwise you'll just get raped.

If you just want to get your gamble on a little bit, then blackjack's definitely where it's at. There's a low enough house edge that you have a pretty decent chance of winning, and if you memorize basic strategy, and practice counting a little (it's really not that hard), there's no house edge at all.

Forgive the bump, but I'm going for the first time next week.

Is playing roulette and just sticking to red/black bets considered bad etiquette?

It's not bad etiquette, you just won't win much if you do win.

No, lots of people do that. The minimum bet for the "outside" bets (red/black, odd/even, first 18/second 18, etc.) is usually a fair bit higher than betting the numbers, though.

Anyways there are four casino's located within a 30 minute drive from my home town, one is cross border.

You do get those old people and asains, but its great to see family's spending their vacation in the casino and leaving their kids on Clifton Hill

Anyways on tables, there's $5 a hand, except on weekends which it can be $10-$15 a hand and some nights when there are concerts/long weekends regular tables have gone up as high as $25-$50 a hand

I'm going to casino Winsor sometime in March because my girlfriend has a stay for a free night in the hotel. So I imagine I may take $50 or so to spend at the casino. I'm half tempted to put half on red or black and try and make a quick buck...and if I don't try again...then if I lose get another $10 and spend on the cheapest slots I can find

Standard. More traffic = higher table minimums. If you're a cheapskate and like to play the tables, don't go to a casino on Friday or Saturday evenings.
