the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted August 31, 2006 Don't really know enough about the Jets backups to comment on winning/losing, but so far this preseason for the Eagles Garcia has been pretty awful, the backup RBs (after Buckhalter who has been terrific) have been pretty bad and fumble prone, and the backup Oline has been a bit of a sieve. However, the second string defense has played well (especially the DLine). Don't count on any of the first teamers playing significant, if any time. May need to find a Jets fan to find out about there backups to compare. If they have been good, I might lean Jets.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted August 31, 2006 Who's everybodys Rookie of the Year on offense and defense??? Offense is a tough call, I'll go with Vernon Davis because there's no one else to throw at on that team. Defensively, AJ Hawk. He's behind a small porous line, and is in a week division. He'll rack up a LOT of tackles.
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted August 31, 2006 OROTY: DeAngelo Williams- Well, DeShaun will go down eventually during the season and DeAngelo will pick up the slack and make Foster the odd man out in Carolina. DROTY: Manny Lawson
the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted August 31, 2006 Off ROY: Matt Leinart. I think he steps in much earlier than expected, given how quickly he has picked up the system. And throwing to Boldin and Fitz will really help a stat line. Def ROY: Broderick Bunkley. Likely much higher on him than everyone else, but I have not seen him moved backwards once the entire preseason. He has been going against double teams often and still controls his area of the line and penetrates. I actually find myself hoping Mario Williams plays well enough to earn it. I still think they should have taken Bush, but I'd like to see him justify himself so we won't have to hear about the comparison forever.
Hogan Made Wrestling 0 Report post Posted August 31, 2006 Apparently Matt Leinart knocked up some 20 year old USC basketball player: http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/5918946 This would have been way more entertaining if it were Paris Hilton or one of the Simpson sisters. Now his holdout makes sense though: he needs cash to pay for the child support.
mike546 0 Report post Posted September 1, 2006 Anyone in need of a laugh, put on Pats/Giants. Brandon Jacobs is literally running over the Pats defense, 1st, 2nd and 3rd stringers.

Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted September 1, 2006 Offensive Rookie: DeAngelo Williams. Foster is always injured and he's on a great team that has a history of producing high-scoring RBs. Mike Bell might get it, but I'm not confident that he will have the job long enough. Defensive Rookie: AJ Hawk. I agree with AoO. He's behind a crappy line in a crappy division and will thus have the most oppurtunity to make tackles out of the rookies.
Guest Paul Report post Posted September 1, 2006 The Giants end the pre season, 4-0. Not that it means a whole lot. I was surprised to see Jacobs rack up so many yards. Bring on week 1 and the Colts.

Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted September 1, 2006 Offensive ROY: Joseph Addai. Just because he has the biggest chance thus far, as the probable starter for Indy. I'm not that high on him... but, he'll rack up stats on that offense. Defensive ROY: Mario Williams. Again, he'll have the most chances. If he puts up around 10 sacks, that'll probably be enough. Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted September 1, 2006 Interesting choices, here is mine... Offense: Reggie Bush, his overall game is going to impress alot of people at the pro level. He's going to make an immediate explosion. Defense: Broderick Bunkley, he's been really impressing me this pre-season, he's fills our need for another Cory Simon. He's going to kill O-Line men this year.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted September 1, 2006 From watching him in college and the preseason Matt Leinart looks like he could be a star and a great NFL QB. Meanwhile Carson Palmer IS a star and IS a great NFL QB. The question is......who will be the bigger star and better NFL QB when all is said and done? Also something I noticed....I didn't watch Palmer in college but did he look the same that he does now? Leinart looks like a kid. He's got the shaggy hair and 5 o'clock shadow. He just looks like your typical college kid. Palmer looks like a 35 year old man. Has he always looked like that?
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted September 1, 2006 From what I remember, pretty much. Carson Palmer's also a much more likable guy, despite the fact he's a former Trojan. There's just something I can't stand about Leinart. Also, Matt seems to have a thing for lazy-eyed chicks.
Guest DaGoodz Report post Posted September 1, 2006 I think Palmer will be better although both will probably be better. Palmer is like the perfect QB IMO, at least when it comes to physical tools. he has everything you want in a QB.
Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted September 1, 2006 I'm a USC fan, so I like both, but really who knows who will end up better. Let's see Leinart play a full season to make that judgment.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted September 1, 2006 Offensive ROY: Hmm, tough call but I'm going with an extreme dark horse in Tarvaris Jackson of the Minnesota Vikings. I like what he has shown in the preseason, I don't see Brad Johnson holding up and I damn sure don't see Mike McMahon holding onto the #2 spot. I think if the Vikings faltered or Johnson goes down, Jackson will come in and impress. Most impressive but no chance: D'Brickshaw Ferguson, he's learning very well and lays some punishing blocks. But he's an offensive lineman so already he's out of the discussion before the first snap. Won't get it done this year: Reggie Bush, simply because it seems like he still thinks he can outrun everyone on the field like this is college. He'll do good in the third down back role and if he runs into the Titans again he'll torch them, but that's not saying much since they are basically a college team on the defensive line right now. Reggie will be very good, but he's got to learn that he can't outrun everybody. He seems to be getting it and the quicker he does, the better he'll do. Defensive ROY: Donte Whitner, Buffalo Bills. He likes to tackle and something tells me that Bills front line might end up letting a lot of guys slip into the secondary.
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted September 1, 2006 I'll echo the Palmer > Leinart sentiment. Palmer has a better arm, where he can remain accurate whether it's a 5 yard route or a 66 yard bomb. I think Leinart's accuracy suffers as the route gets longer. This is not to say Leinart won't be a successful NFL QB. With two all-pro receivers like Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald to throw to, you can't go too wrong.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted September 1, 2006 You are forgetting the fact that Leinart plays for the Cardinals whose owner hasn't given a damn about having a winning season in years. I can see Anquan Boldin, Larry Fitzgerald, and James all being traded or getting busted for being David Boston clones very soon.
jwest27 0 Report post Posted September 1, 2006 http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2568851 Deion Branch has reached a tentative deal on a contract with the Jets and another NFC team, apparently the Seahawks. Wonder what New England will do?
LaParkaMarka 0 Report post Posted September 1, 2006 I don't understand how the Pats can ask for TWO 1st round picks for Branch. It makes no sense. Randy Moss went for a first rounder and some scrub linebacker, and he's Randy fucking Moss. Branch is a solid player, but a single 2nd round pick seems far more reasonable for him.
HarleyQuinn 0 Report post Posted September 1, 2006 New England will likely trade him. I've heard rumblings that the Jets will give them the Redskins 2nd rounder and a "very good player" too. The rumored contracts are 6 years for $36 million from the Jets at least and the Patriots have already made a couple offers. Anybody who knows the Pats knows that they have a ballpark value that they stick with.

jwest27 0 Report post Posted September 1, 2006 In other news, the Rams signed Stephen Davis. SUPERBOWL HERE WE COME WOOOO Actually, he was fairly inexpensive and will serve as a good backup to Steven Jackson, so this was a good move really.
Guest Dolfan483 Report post Posted September 1, 2006 I dont know why everybody hates on the Dolphins so much, they easily have the talent to make and even win the Super Bowl. They have a Pro Bowl WR in Chris Chambers who had Jay Fiedler, Ray Lucas, AJ Feeley, Sage Rosenfels, and Gus Freotte as the starting QB's and still averaged 900 yards and 10 td's each. year they also have a good TE in McMichael. And Culpepper has the best arm in the game. the defense is also solid with a front that has Jason Taylor, Kevin Carter and Big Daddy. Linebackers are solid and the only thing that is suspect is there secondary which has played well in the preseason. The Dolphins will have a great year. Plain and simple. Randy Moss went for a first rounder and some scrub linebacker, and he's Randy fucking Moss. Branch is a solid player, but a single 2nd round pick seems far more reasonable for him. They can ask for it because they don't want to trade Branch. They feel like they've been forced into this position and they want to get as much for him as possible. And they don't have to trade him, so if other teams balk at the price, so be it. The difference with Moss is that he's a headcase and everyone in the league knew the Vikings wanted to get rid of him. Hell, there was talk that the Vikings would have just released him if it came to it, because they weren't getting a lot of trade offers.

The RBs are average or below average; I don't know who's going to start at RB since no RB starter has been named; could be Barlow, Houston, Blalock, or Washington, who knows. At QB, Ramsey and Clemens will get most if not all of the snaps; Pennington will sit out. It could go either way really. Who ever scores a TD first will probably win. nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted September 1, 2006 I dont know why everybody hates on the Dolphins so much ... No one's hating on the Dolphins ... people are saying that they're a Wild Card caliber team. ... they easily have the talent to make and even win the Super Bowl. that's the part that we're all questioning. They'd have to win the WC game on the road, and then - likely - travel to two division winners and beat them as well. I just don't see that happening. They're a good team, probably 9 or 10 wins ... but I'd be awfully surprised for them to even make the AFC Championship Game, let alone win it AND then the Super Bowl. The Pats would be smart to take a #1 & a conditional pick from the Jets, or a #1 & #2 from Seattle. Of course, the Jets would be idiotic to trade their #1, which is likely going to be a top 5 pick.
