JST Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 I recently got me an i-Pod Nano and still learning the kinks of it. I know I have to plug it into my computer (which launches i-Tunes) in order to recharge it. And I know I have to click the little Eject button when it's done in order to unplug it. But what if I need to recharge it at a friend's house and that friend doesn't have i-Tunes? Can I still recharge it by just plugging it in? Thanks.
Urban Warfare Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 I've charged mine on other computers than my own and have had no problems. Just make sure his computer doesn't have iTunes and if he does make sure it doesn't launch automatically otherwise his songs will load onto your iPod.

No, it won't launch automatically unless you set up your preferences to launch itunes automatically when an iPod is connected. Even if that happens, you'll get a message: This iPod is linked to another iTunes Library. Do you want to change the link to this library and replace all existing songs? If you can read, you can simply select "No." and put the iPod into manual mode, so you want any songs you can click and drag them to the iPod. Of course, if you're an idiot you can say "yes" and lose the music on the iPod already. And use a USB 2.0 port to charge more effectively.
Karnage Posted August 11, 2006 Report Posted August 11, 2006 Get a USB to AC adapter if you just wanna skip plugging it in the computer.
JangoFett4Hire Posted August 24, 2006 Report Posted August 24, 2006 I have an Ipod question, and am sorry if this has been discussed before. How do you transfer songs from your ipod to your computer? My hard drive was zapped and lost a lot of music, but have it saved on the i-pod. Is it possible? Help me, plz.
Spaceman Spiff Posted August 24, 2006 Report Posted August 24, 2006 You can't do it directly. There's a work-around to do it, involving making your computer think the iPod is just another hard drive, then copying the song files manually to your computer. I don't know the process, but I'm sure you can Google it.
In Credible Posted August 25, 2006 Report Posted August 25, 2006 You can get a program called Ipod Agent which makes it much easier to transfer from Ipod to computer.
JST Posted August 28, 2006 Author Report Posted August 28, 2006 I finally ended up getting an USB-AC adapter. Thanks for the suggestions.
