JasonX 0 Report post Posted August 24, 2006 The only two Detroit JLAers to die were Vibe and Steel, though Steel was brought back to life and killed again during the Giffen JLA run. Power Girl isn't a member of the new Justice League because she's still going to be part of the JSA when it gets relaunched this fall. As for Arsenal over Green Arrow? Possibly because Roy is a Federal Agent and can serve as the government's contact with the team. That and Roy can be the perfect "newbie" JLAer with whom Meltzer can use to forcefeed a lot of exposition to readers....

UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted August 25, 2006 I take back my Red Tornado bashing. Issue #1 was excellent and sold me on his upcoming story. But Vixen really sucks.

starvenger 0 Report post Posted August 25, 2006 Well, Buddy and Barda apparently got sex changes. Also, did they forget that thing about Captain Atom (finally) becoming Monarch?
Dr. Zaius 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2006 This sucks. Seriously...Arsenal, Vixen, and Black Lightening??? Talk about C-list heroes! In the original version of that cover, John Stewart had Black Lightning's spot, Green Arrow had Arsenal's spot, and Flash had Red Tornado's spot. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:JLACV1.JPG Either that cover was a red herring, or some changes were made at the last minute. Arsenal: I'm guessing whoever's writing Green Arrow these days has enough clout to veto Ollie's use on the team. Vixen: Being the most popular member of JLA Detroit is like being the least painful STD. Bad choice. Red Tornado: He's only on the team so they had destroy him every third issue. I'd don't think I've ever read a comic with Red Tornado in it where he didn't get mutilated somehow. Black Lightening: Has an adult age daughter in the Outsiders and was part of President Luthor's cabinet. The dude's got to be pretty old, right? Why have two Green Lanterns on the same team? That line up is preferable but doesn't make much sense. "Spot" = placement on cover, not "spot on the team." Does anyone have the original JLA cover that was posted a few months back? No.
Exslade ZX 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2006 You know, after reading the first issue, I really don't have a problem with this team at all. Although I still don't know to much about Vixen. And I don't think Hawkgirl had any involvment at all. But I like how everything turned out, and I reiterate, I like Roy getting his just due. Two things that stand out for me though, I don't really understand how Red Tornado was able to use his powers. I mean, I thought since he was put into a human body..he wouldn't be able to do the wind thing anymore, guess I was wrong. And, Power Girl. Evidently, she's not on the team. But, am I wrong in reading that they said "Power Girl welcome to the team" in one of the panels? Because, they said that..and she was neer mentioned again, nor is she on the cover. So yea. Dr. Zaius 0 Report post Posted August 28, 2006 They did act like Power Girl was going to be invited, so I assume they were going to write in some bullshit explanation as to why Powergirl couldn't join in the second issue. This issue wasn't enough to make me care about Red Tornado. He'll never be as good a character as The Vision. And I'd rather see Arsenal as a member of the Outsiders, and Nightwing joining the JLA...no explanation whatsoever for why Nightwing was rejected while Arsenal and Black Canary were accepted is annoying. Alot of people are getting cofused with what is going on. All the subplots are going on at the same time. The Big Three aren't even done picking their team. When Green Arrow mentions "you're putting the gang back together again" to Canary and Hal, he met the three them going out on the road again. No one has actually been invited to the team and when some are asked later on ( Powergirl) they are going to turn the invite down. Also it looks like the team will end up together by chance and find out they make a great team, since Vixen didn't receive much support from the Big Three and will still make the cut. Dr. Zaius 0 Report post Posted August 29, 2006 Red Tornado = August 1968 The Vision = October 1968 Hmm.... I don't know if this was the case, but Marvel cover dates used to run 3 months fast until the early 90s. I remember getting comics that were dated Sept. but actually came out in June. I couldn't tell you how accurate DC cover dates were. Red Tornado was a Garner Fox creation, and Vision was a Roy Thomas creation, IIRC. And they had surprisingly similar origins. Great minds think alike, I suppose.
UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted September 2, 2006 ______ Also, after consulting various sites on both, I found the books back then came out as the cover indicated. Tornado was first by 2 months. Boy, that Vision SURE IS RED.
Dr. Zaius 0 Report post Posted September 8, 2006 At one point DC thought Marvel beat them in sales because they used a lot of red on their covers. True story.

tbondrage99 0 Report post Posted September 13, 2006 I thought that it was pretty good as well. Im quite interested to see where it goes from here. Still though....Vixen....c'mon!
Vampiro69 0 Report post Posted September 13, 2006 Yeah, I am still not totally convinced on Vixen being in this version of the JLA. However, I am willing to give Meltzer the benieft of the doubt and see what he comes up with for her.
tbondrage99 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2006 Agreed. I admit that over the last few years DC has been excellent when it comes to making B or C level characters excellent, but I have found them all to have a underground following. I dont know anyone who like Vixen, and if not for Justice League Unlimited know of her existance.
UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2006 Vixen joins X-Force's Feral, New Mutants/X-Factor's Wolfsbane, the Mutant Liberation Front's Thornn, Alpha Flight's Wildheart/Wildchild, Catwoman, Ka-Zar's sabretooth tiger Zabu, and some others I'm probably forgetting as "Stupid Cat-Like Characters That I Hate". The only "cat" character I've ever liked was in the movie Ghoulies. The creepy-"meows" from the cat-Ghoulie were great and he was my favorite one.

tbondrage99 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2006 How about Shadowcat, yes granted there is nothing cat like about her powers but cat is in her name, does that count for anything?
UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2006 Actually, Shadowcat had metal claws in the "Age of Apocalypse" run. I really like her, BTW. The teenage version moreso than the current "tough girl" adult version, moreso. Let's get back to JLA Talk now, sorry.
