OAO ECW TV Week 11 Thread - August/22nd/2006.

My favorite DDT sell was Ted Dibiase at Wrestlemania 6 I believe. Jake hits him with it and he kind of bounces off the mat and flips onto his back. (Kind of hard to explain) Jake had just been tossing some of Dibiase's money around and when he hit the DDT the money flew off of the mat and made for an awesome visual.

The headstand sell is pretty cool too though. (I have no problems with the Canadian Destroyer either).

I'm all for a normal DDT being a finisher again, just like I'm all for the Rude Awakening being a finisher again. The guy doing it just needs to know how to make it look good, as does the guy taking the moves.

Seeing Jake or Arn giving someone the DDT is just awesome, and it could be again.

It was Dorings first TV appearance

No it wasn't. Doring wrestled in the Battle Royal on Week 1 and wrestled Mike Knox on Week 3.

The only decent match on this week's ECW was Punk/Anderson, even though it was too short. I found it funny that Heyman was trying to build-up Holly as some sort of unsung hardcore legend. Don't get me wrong, he's ok as a midcarder, but not as a main-eventer.

I've said this before and I'll say it again. What reason does Vince have for putting CM Punk on TV? He certainly does not think he owes Heyman any favors and isn't ready to please the "internet fans" anytime soon. And esp. when the crowd was pretty much dead for this week's match.

Speaking of the DDT, I remember in ECW a lot of people used it as a finisher, which was something else that made ECW different, in that the ending sequence in most matches didn't end with the same setup and finishing manuever every single time. Sometimes, a guy would just break out a vicious DDT at the right time onto a guardrail or something and the match would end. It helped add to the match that you never knew exactly how the match would end.....guys would often miss their signature moves and have to resort to other ways to win.

My favorite DDT spot was RVD vs. Jerry Lynn at Living Dangerously... 99 I want to say... When Van Dam went for the northern lights suplex and got planted with a ddt. It was fantastic.

Because it's not just Heyman that likes him; HHH is supposedly a fan of the guy, and apparently most of the road agents love him for his dedication to the business and his encyclopedic knowledge of all types of wrestling.

I agree with that completely. I hate the way that the modern WWE style pretty much forces their guys to use one and only one finisher. I like matches that are less predictable than that.

And how are the DDT and the Canadian Destroyer comparable? You can actually use a DDT in a real fight if you catch the other guy off guard, and depending on how he lands he just might do that headstand thing. On the other hand, the CD is a completely worked move that is utterly impossible to pull off without your opponent's cooperation.

Back up, jerky. HHH and Arn Anderson have both burried Punk in the past. Those guys along with HBK are the reasons it took PUnk so long to debut on WWE programming.

Yeah, I REALLY find that hard to believe

Not saying I think it's gospel, just passing on some rumors I heard.

But seriously, Punk has to have a MAJOR fan or two in the office. Since when has the WWE ever hired an independent wrestler, and then allowed him to keep his old gimmick from the independents? EVER? It doesn't happen, period, unless your name is CM Punk. That tells me he's got a major decision-maker or two who are total marks for him.

I think some higher ups and road agents like him but HHH, HBK, and Double A, don't see why a lot of people like Punk.

Yeah, that's what I was saying. Knowing what we know about the WWE, there is absolutely no reason why this guy's made on TV with his own gimmick and in-ring name. None.

I gave up on ECWWWE after week 2. It just got old and shit really really quickly. I still read the results and spoilers just to see what else they can do to rape the ECW legacy.

Why put Raw/Smackdown midcarders that couldnt get over on ECW and give them a push? surley that makes ECW look a little bush league?

And changing CW andersons name was stupid but probably neccasary. But it does rule out a possible eCW Anderson gimmick.
