CubbyBr Posted August 26, 2006 Report Posted August 26, 2006 I'm considering starting wrestling training and I was wondering if anyone's heard anything, good or bad, about Windy City Wrestling school in Chicago?
Jingus Posted August 26, 2006 Report Posted August 26, 2006 I know a couple of guys who came out of there (if it's the same school I'm thinking of), and by all accounts it's pretty damn good. Or at least not bad, not one of those places which will just steal your money. I'd say you have as good a chance of getting good, thorough training there as anywhere else.
Quasar Posted August 27, 2006 Report Posted August 27, 2006 May I recommend going to the Storm Wrestling Academy? That seems to be an EXCELLENT school.
Guest J0bber Posted August 27, 2006 Report Posted August 27, 2006 Wasn't Vito 2 Fingers the Windy City Pro Wrestling Champion? That guy was a talentless piece of shit so they probably didn't teach him much.
Hasbeen1 Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 You should talk to anyone that trained there, but not to ones still involved with the group since they could have a motive for you to go there too ($$).
Hawk 34 Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 A good school to go to are the ones that have good reputations or have a quality roster of trainees. The obvious choices are the Storm Academy, ROH Wrestling Academy (trainer=Danielson with special seminars from talent like KENTA) and Les Thacther's school in Cincinnati. The money shouldn't be a factor but even if it's the most expensive, doesn't mean its the best. Being the cheapest isn't neccesarily indicative that it's the worse. Do through research. If you have a particular style you think you can do, look through that avenue. If you plan to be a high-flying garbage type, doing Danielson or Storm's school wouldn't be the smartest move as they will be more about technical wrestling.
Jingus Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 I think you're all jumping the gun a bit, debating the pros and cons of different schools all over the continent. He might've asked about Windy City just because he lives in Chicago. Not everyone has the ability to pull up stakes from their home and move to wherever just because they want to train in that particular school to be a wrestler.
CanadianChick Posted September 1, 2006 Report Posted September 1, 2006 Storm Academy is pretty hefty priced, and you don't really get a lot training, in terms of time. Not saying it isn't quality though.
TheTomster Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 If you wanted to drive maybe a couple of hundred more miles[not sure how far it is] I'd recommened Harley Race's wrestling school in Missouri
swan Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 I'm considering starting wrestling training and I was wondering if anyone's heard anything, good or bad, about Windy City Wrestling school in Chicago? Thats were the Fallen Angel Chris Daniels got started for one. But yeah they have been around for like 18 years. Very well respected in the midwest.( assuming Sam DeCero is still involved)
