NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted August 31, 2006 It's long, but pretty good....give it a watch. All three parts can be watched here.... http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/video1037.htm
CheesalaIsGood 0 Report post Posted September 1, 2006 Watched part 1 just now. Nicely done. Got to wonder about all those familiar names and faces that keep on showing up over the years. It is enough to make a person think "conspiracy!" Then again *I* am far too leftist to comment. The scene at the end of the muslim guys dancing to "Baby, it's Cold Outside" was a nice touch of irony. I'd love to be in a room with a MikeSC type to watch it fly right over his head and most likely into the side of a building.
NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted September 1, 2006 I just finished the 3rd part. Very good documentary. I think it did a great job of explaining the rise of Neoconservatism in America as well as the Islamists in the Middle East, and how both philosophies are fundamentally flawed. I wish we could have documentaries like these air in America.
Guest Felonies! Report post Posted September 2, 2006 Holy shit, they used "The Big Ship" in the first minute! A SERIES OF EDITS AS I GO: Nice Hitler 'stache, Sayed. Hey, more contempt for the 1950s. Hey, more AGW. I think it was like two seconds of "Becalmed." EDIT: There's "In Dark Trees." God, this use of one of my favorite albums for this documentary is pissing me off. NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted September 2, 2006 EDIT: There's "In Dark Trees." God, this use of one of my favorite albums for this documentary is pissing me off. Just wait till part two, as a track from the Halloween score is used....
Guest Felonies! Report post Posted September 2, 2006 I don't give a shit about the Halloween score. Anyway, I'm feeling as if the director is somewhat sympathetic to Kotb. And what's with this Pollyanna bullshit that politicians looking out for themselves is a new development in world history? If I hear "THEY WANTED NO MORE THAN TO MAKE A NEW AND BETTER WORLD" one more time I'm shutting it off. EDIT: Okay, this thing is seriously going to ruin my enjoyment of Another Green World. I already have visualizations in mind for these pieces, and they don't involve Arabs with Hitlerstaches or generic Late Sixties Turmoil stock footage. Guest Felonies! Report post Posted September 3, 2006 Oh, it wasn't that bad, it just loses points for Eno abuse and the fact that it was presented as Islamic terrorists = bad Neoconservatives = REALLY FUCKIN' BAD
CheesalaIsGood 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2006 Oh, it wasn't that bad, it just loses points for Eno abuse and the fact that it was presented as Islamic terrorists = bad Neoconservatives = REALLY FUCKIN' BAD Oh wait until you get to parts 2 and 3! The best thing it does is point out at the end of Part 3 is that "fear" has a shelf life. Once expired, the neocons are fucked. Actually, it presents them all as really fucking bad. As long as they do that they can set Brian Eno on fire for all I care.
Guest Felonies! Report post Posted September 3, 2006 I think we're seeing the neocon thing run its course already, or if not now, certainly by 2008.
megaadvice 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2006 I think we're seeing the neocon thing run its course already, or if not now, certainly by 2008. I dont. Just like the deluded Neo-Cons thought USSR was trying to destroy them looking for every little peice of evidence they could to try and persuade the minds of Americans that the was the battle of Good vs Evil, just like they tried to make out there were WMD's in Iraq and they were somehow a danger to America, just how they tried to persuade us of a link between Iraq and Al Qaeda and now just last week the idoit Bush and his cronies are trying to tell us that Iran are building weapons with the intention the bomb the world. As long as these nutcase neo-cons can keep coming up with these nightmares of Good vs Evil in America, the Neo-Con movement will continue to go from strength to strength. If a Neo-Con (or a neo-con backed leader) runs in '08 he/she will win.
CheesalaIsGood 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2006 We can certainly hope so. Then again HOPE is the poor man crack.
NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2006 The problem these days is that the media is basically in bed with the government, whether it is the broken will or outright refusal to actually report news instead of celebrity culture, or high profile cases like Jon Benet. I mean really, could you see THAT kind of a documentary airing on CNN or Fox, hell even on ABC? Also, the documentary didn't even get into the corporate side of the war too much, and all the beneficiaries and contracts etc etc etc....I would like to see one about that aspect of the war, especially the effects it has had on Iraqi citizens that are refused employment and told to just basically sit around, do nothing, and wait for their bread and water, continuing the cycle of poverty amongst Iraqis, which nine times out of ten serves as motivation to join the resistence. EDIT: Another scary aspect of this documentary is how easily guys like Rumsfield, Wolfowitz, Cheney etc....were and still are basically facilitated to go on the air and make up a bunch of bullshit to scare the american people, and why the fact that the CIA is calling these guys nutbags is not emphasized MORE. I mean it would be one thing if our intelligence community agreed with them, but in both cases, Cold War, and Terrorism era, the CIA basically said these guys were wrong just about on everything, yet it seems like that part was barely covered by the media.
