Hogan Made Wrestling Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 Crank Lions? Movie is Crank, distributor is Lion's Gate.
Insanity Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 I'm not surprised by Crank's below average rankings this week. The people who've seen it have said good things, but I think a lot of people saw this as just another Transporter film and decided to skip out on it. That's kinda how I felt anyway. The week coming up isn't shaping out to be too hot either. The trailer for The Covenant made it look like a fucking joke, and having Renny Harlin on the director's helm doesn't exactly make it's case any better. I don't know though, I'm already so sick of school that I might see it to take my mind off things.
A Happy Medium Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 Crank was fun. That's all there is to it. Also, Jason Statham got his action role he should've gotten years ago.
Youth N Asia Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 I intend on seeing Crank. Farewell Snakes. I've seen it twice, and now it disapears
bob_barron Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 Crank was fun, but then I got bored with it in the last 20 minutes. Jason Statham is great though.
dubq Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 Wow was Wicker Man ever awful. Nicholas Cage is just a ridiculously unintentionally funny actor. I can't believe this guy thought that he could ever play Superman...
treble Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 The last half hour or so of the Wicker Man is some of the funniest shit I've ever seen.
Guest Hotbutter Spoontoaster Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 The week coming up isn't shaping out to be too hot either. Hollywoodland comes out this week.
AndrewTS Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 The Wicker Man was a really weird remake. Huge portions of the script are recycled, but the major premise behind the islands' pagan inhabitants are really screwed up and quickly become painfully obvious. The hallucinations were an awful attempt to get more "horror" jumps and scares out of what was originally a slow-building film. I liked Nic's performance, but the way the character was written--actually one way then the next scene going all insane and kicking ass was strange. The tacked-on "wrap up" scene was terrible. Of course, it was going to come out a loser anyway. The original movie had Christopher Lee and hotter women (with nudity).
RedJed Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 Crank was definately an entertaining film. Seemed to parody itself a bit, or at least not take itself seriously, much like Snakes did. The action was good, comedy was subtle but funny, and overall it didnt just seem like a Transporter rehash like I assumed it was, so I left happy. Covenant and that movie with the Ong-Bak guy are both out this weekend, definately will likely check both of them out.
2GOLD Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 I swear The Covenant looks absolutely horrible. Like it should have been a WB show but couldn't make the cut.
Insanity Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 The week coming up isn't shaping out to be too hot either. Hollywoodland comes out this week. That looked OK, but nothing I would go out of my way to see. Not that my area would get it anyway. I forgot that Tony Jaa's new film came out too when I made that post, but I'm not dying to see that either.
dubq Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 I swear The Covenant looks absolutely horrible. Like it should have been a WB show but couldn't make the cut. Seriously! It's like Underworld with teen heart throb boy witches that have extremely contrived names like "Caleb Danvers" - give me a fucking break. Who greenlights this shit?? EDIT: Quoted the wrong post..
cd213 Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 I swear The Covenant looks absolutely horrible. Like it should have been a WB show but couldn't make the cut. I've been saying that to my friends for about 2 weeks now, lol. I can't wait to see the Protector. I am a big fan of Jaa and LOVED Ong Bak. Does anyone know if Pirates reached 1 billion dollars world wide yet? I think Titanic has the record and I would love to see it beat.
Corey_Lazarus Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 I like that Barnyard is still in the Top 10. VERY good movie. Not as funny as the other CGI flicks out by Dreamworks (though Madagascar fucking sucked outside of the lemurs), but more emotional. A good story about a young man growing up, and a lot of the laughs are things that fans of Jackass/CKY and other incredibly stupid humor can appreciate (the goat shooting the chickens out of the slingshot, "that's called BOY-tipping," and when the farmer has to be taken out...3 times).
bob_barron Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 The male cows have udders! Come on!
Corey_Lazarus Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 Weirder things have happened in movies. I mean...THE ANIMALS FUCKING TALK AND DRIVE CARS.
cabbageboy Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 POTC is getting quite close to 1 billion, but let's not kid ourselves. It's not going to get even near Titanic. Hell, it's already all but run out of steam in the US. Titanic made about 1.8 billion worldwide. If POTC can get to ROTK's 1.2 billion it'll be doing good.
Slayer Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 THE ANIMALS FUCKING TALK Hey, I've never seen that in a CGI movie before!
Ginger Snaps Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 I swear The Covenant looks absolutely horrible. Like it should have been a WB show but couldn't make the cut. It looks exactly like a WB show, which is why I'll probably watch it.
Guest Hotbutter Spoontoaster Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 Where's Beerfest? - 13 Beerfest $3,657,918.
A Happy Medium Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 Beerfest will wind up like Supertroopers...a college dorm room classic.
Corey_Lazarus Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 Which, in the end, is where the truly memorable films lie: word-of-mouth from one friend to another.
Mole Posted September 7, 2006 Author Report Posted September 7, 2006 I've heard good things about Beerfest, but I didn't think it warranted $10.00.
The Niggardly King Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 It's pretty good... Though, I wouldn't say it's worth that.
