Slayer Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 Think of all the sexual inneundos the writers could use as headlines: "Woody proves STIFF competition for Cubs" "Woody proves HARD to beat for Fish" "Astros break out their WOOD for Woody" And so on.... Do you write for The Amazing Rando?
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 My local tv station just reported that the Yankees are moving their AAA club to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Precious Roy Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 My local tv station just reported that the Yankees are moving their AAA club to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Looks like you'll be a Yankees fan now, huh Al? I wonder why they're leaving Columbus.......
devo Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 This is kinda unexpected, since they were supposed to begin constructing a new stadium for the Clippers later this year. Oh well. I'm not too sad to see 'em go, since the only time I went to the stadium (which is constantly filled with irritating goobers who know nothing about baseball) was when the Tides were in town.
mike546 Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 What exactly happens when a team changes affliates? Do they get the players from the new team? Or do the players just transfer players? or what?
KingPK Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 They probably can just purchase the contracts of the guys that they want to keep from the old team, put them on the 40-man roster and send them to the new team.
Vern Gagne Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 Boof pitched well again. Still don't like the idea of Boof being the number two starter against the Yankees.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 What exactly happens when a team changes affliates? Do they get the players from the new team? Or do the players just transfer players? or what? All players are the property of their parent clubs. It's as if the Columbus Clippers picked up and moved to Scranton. Except that there's so much roster turnover in the minors that most of the players will be new anyway.
KingPK Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 A tip to Yankee fans this weekend: If you really want to be witty, chant "Twent-y nine-ty!" *clap clap clapclapclap* as 2004 + 86 years = 2090, the next time the Red Sox will win a World Series. It's easy to chant, rolls off the tongue, and will annoy the dozens of Red Sox fans that still give a crap about the 2006 season. You can't say I'm never helpful.
Cheech Tremendous Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 At least if the Yankees sweep them this weekend, I doubt anyone will actually notice.
Guest Felonies! Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 The Diamondbacks are letting Luis Gonzalez go at the end of the year. The Cubs should pick him up, because he kills us without fail. Whoa, Twins got it down to one game back. Santana is starting tonight, so they could move into a tie for first. Good for them!

You can't say I'm never helpful. sweet Im gonna chnat that in my living room tonight! I want to clinch this weekend so bad but I hope they didn't gel too soon (if that is possible) what a difference a month makes huh? the sheffield/melky controversy is getting annoying, mad dog needs to shut up (why does YES show this show? its on the mets station for crying out low)
Jericholic82 Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 Yanks-Sox Rained Out. so they will play a doubleheader on both SAT AND SUNDAY This is insane. I mean must they really play all these games? I know Boston is still technically alive in the race but come on. It's got to be a money thing(as mad dog and mike are now talking about on yes) say hello to an all scrubs lineup in the nightgames
Brett Favre Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 I disagree. You still gotta play the games. More time for the younger players though, so it's not that bad.
KingPK Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 Yanks-Sox Rained Out. so they will play a doubleheader on both SAT AND SUNDAY Whoo-hoo, 20 hours of baseball in two days (and the games will only go 9 innings)! Bullpen arms blowing out like old tires! Pedroia and Mirabelli racing to see who can drop under a .100 BA first! The scoreboard operator figuring out how to display a 20-run inning when Mike Timlin gets on the mound! Fun!
Jericholic82 Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 I disagree. You still gotta play the games. More time for the younger players though, so it's not that bad. yea I guess, but now we may actually lose a game or two this weeked
Guest Felonies! Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 "Do we REALLY need to play games against the second-place team?" Yankee fans can fucking die. Man.
Bruiser Chong Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 Billy Wagner for Cy Young? HA!
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 The games are important because the Yankees are competing for home field advantage.
Bruiser Chong Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 Looks like Texas left Matt Stairs behind in Detroit.
jwest27 Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 Man, Bonds even gets booed in Busch Stadium. That's hard to do. Not very loudly, but still.
Bruiser Chong Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 The O's have such horrid pitching.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 Jon Papelbon's done for the year, confirming Justin Verlander for AL Rookie of the Year. Oddly, win shares has Kenji Johjima ahead, though no one seems to mention him.
treble Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 Well, the Jays saved Roy Halladay from another tough luck loss coming back in the 9th to tie it against the Rays, but he's still not going to get his 17th win after going 9 innings giving up 3 runs.
Bruiser Chong Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 Scott Rolen with seven RBIs tonight. Naturally, I have him benched.
tominator89 Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 The Phillies better not blow this.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 Good god the Phillies are doing their best to give away this game.
tominator89 Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 They are well on their way to doing so.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 And the Phillies escape with a scoreless ninth despite two crucial errors.
devo Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 Oof. My chances of seeing the Mets clinch the division in person are still alive. Just gotta hope the Phils can win tomorrow as well...
