That was lame. Yeah, Nintendo, I get it, you love casual gamers. But I ain't one of 'em.

What about me? What about you? What about looooooooooooooooooooooooovvvveeeeee?

Looks like Double Dash mixed with the DS version.

Which I'm not all that enthralled by as (much like the THQ wrestling joints) I think what they had going on back in the N64 days was pretty much flawless, yet they keep needlessly reimagining the fucking things and pissing me off in the process.

Still, even though I'm not a big fan of the DD engine, multiplayer on the DS was fun, so I'll still get this and spend an inordinate amount of time mastering that shit.

DD was an awesome game. Sure, it wasn't as good as MK on the SNES, but still, a top class game.

Just a general question, what's everybody's top scores on Wiisports Bowling?

Or have you all hit 300's?

It was terrible. Little if anything new in the way of games. They spent too much time patting themselves on the back and showing that WiiFit gimmick. The new Mario Kart having online play was the best news, which was something that should be a given at this point. Their first party games look pretty good, but the lack of third party stuff was really telling I think.

The Nintendo conference was a huge letdown. They didn't even do the upcoming games montage that they do at every year's show. Plus, they ignored some of their own games that are coming out this year, like Battalion Wars 2 and Endless Ocean (formerly Forever Blue). The worst part is that, we can assume, Smash Bros. won't be online, since they didn't mention it at all during their segment on Nintendo Wi-Fi.

Picked up The Bigs for Wii and having a lot of fun with it. The swinging takes some getting used to after playing Wii Sports, but it's just a timing thing. The fielding is probably the hardest part while the pitching is great. I'm loving it and if you like arcadey sports titles it's worth at least a rental.

Also, to follow up on what I wrote earlier, I was listening to last night's 1Up Yours podcast on the conferences and they noted the absence from E3 of Project H.A.M.M.E.R. and Disaster: Day of Crisis and one of the dudes on the show said "those games are gone, and they're not coming back". Now H.A.M.M.E.R. I can believe, since it has been rumored to have been canceled for weeks now, but Disaster? Nintendo just bought Monolith Soft, and it's not like they are the kind of developer that Nintendo would buy just to cancel the game and tell them to make something with more "casual gamer appeal", which, it is rumored, they did with NST, developer of H.A.M.M.E.R.

That Disaster game looked fantastic. If it's true, fuck Nintendo. It's hard enough seeing all of the hyperbolic nonsense from the droves of fanboys, but seeing Nintendo pull shit like that would just make it exponentially worse. It's one thing if they just cater to the casuals. It's a different story if they cater to the casuals while simultaneously telling the hardcores to go screw themselves. It's ultimately not a very good idea.

No online play for Brawl would be pitiful. I'd love to see Nintendo's excuse. Even VF is going to be online now!

The problem with Double Dash for me was the track design. Every track was boring. But it was fun playing as the Peach/Daisy team. "Hi I'm Daisy!!!".

Our very own Lube had a chance to sit down with Beth Llewelyn, and came away with some interesting info. I will have to edit the entire interview over the weekend, but for now we have some quick tidbits.

Disaster: Day of Crisis is still in the works and is “looking very good”

Project H.A.M.M.E.R. has been shelved, but not canceled. No one is working on the game right now.

Smash Bros. Brawl online play can neither be confirmed or denied. Sounds pretty fishy to me!

Kirby has not been abandoned on the Wii. We were told not to forget about Kirby when asked where the Cube version went.

I would suspect there's a good chance that the team working on the game has an online mode in development but is unsure if it will be complete by the game's release date.

I've had my Wii since June but am finally going to get a game for it today that isn't Wii Sports. Would people tend to agree that Zelda is a good first game to get? I hope so.

That was the reason I bought the damn console in the first place! As i've said in this thread a few times, I bought it a few weeks ago and have only played Wii Sports and two downloaded games.

I haven't even opened Zelda yet.

I can't wait to though.

edit:

I finally did beat M Bison.

Again.

On H.A.M.M.E.R. -- the official word on it, that "resources have been shifted" away from it and that it's not being worked on right now matches up with the rumors we heard before. That essentially means cancellation.

However, on Nintendo's wii site it comes up as a title *not* published by Nintendo:

http://wii.nintendo.com/software_index_en.jsp

It also has been this way ever since the rumor was spreading and several sites pointed it out. Nintendo probably sold the current build, game assets and IP outright (MALICE'D!!). Llewellyn likely just gave a canned response she was programmed to say; she probably doesn't even know. Here's what was actually stated:

AMN: Why are games like Disaster and Project H.A.M.M.E.R. not being shown?

Beth Llewellyn: We shifted development resources. However, Disaster: Day of Crisis is still in development and coming along nicely.

AMN: So is Project H.A.M.M.E.R. canceled?

Llewellyn: Development resources have been shifted for the time being, but it may come back. But right now, it's not a focus of ours.

AMN: So it's not currently in development? Is it on pause?

Llewellyn: Uh... probably... yeah. Again, we shifted our focus. Some games have shifted development resources.

She doesn't have a clue, honestly.

I've played Zelda for about an hour and a half this afternoon and I'm liking it so far. Keep in mind I've never played any of the Zelda games before, so wasn't 100% sure what to expect.

These last few days/E3 has been quite a kick in the balls for Wii owners, save for Mario Kart Wii being announced.

Soul Calibur Legends? - Gaming press says it sucks, confirms what we expected anyway.

Project Rygar? - it's a updated version of the FIVE YEAR OLD PS2 game!

Project HAMMER - Either cancelled, resource-chopped to development limbo forever, or prostituted to the highest 3rd party bidder. Take your pick.

Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles - it's still the only "new" RE game to come out on Wii. Suck it down.

I bought my Wii for Nintendo games, so no big. However, it seems like Nintendo tolerates this crap because it makes everything they make look like platinum.

I absolutely loved Zelda. It was awesome. First Zelda game ever played. Superbly well done. Will play again for sure.

Smash Bros. is going to rule all.

I think the zapper looks pretty damn cool and will give shit like resident evil a new twist on things.

Mario Kart is going to continue to be awesome.

Resident Evil UC looks pretty cool, I guess, but I'm way more interested in No More Heroes.

Metroid Prime 3 is going to be the game of the year on the Wii, sans Smash Bros. Hopefully it won't be a damned scavenger hunt like the other games. I just want to shoot things and kill bosses. Also looking forward to RE5, Bioshock.

Manhunt looks pretty good too.
