Sideburnious Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 Yeah, so it turns out I'm going to Toronto in the morning (as a bit of a Bday present). What are the cool spots to check out? Bars, restaurants, games shops, cd shops. Primarily where's the nearest cougar bar to the airport? Oh, and does anyone know if this place any good?
Guest Fook Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 Try going to Crocadile Rock if you want cougars.
CanadianGuitarist Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 Kensington Market has a great European flavour to it. I'm not sure exactly where you wuld buy them, but if you have the means, I highly suggest a Jamaican Patty from a street vendor. Barron, is that giant Sam The Record Man on Yonge still around?

Sam the Record Man sucks. Overpriced motherfuckers. And we just got a Best Buy too!
treble Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 Go to a Jays game. They're playing the Yankees starting Monday, so there should be a good amount of people there giving it a nice atmosphere.
CanadianChris Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 I find the giant HMV on Yonge better than the giant Sam on Yonge.
Lord of The Curry Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 The Elephant and Castle is a really nice bar located across the street from Union Station. If you're around the University of Toronto campus then I'd recommend hitting up O'Grady's tap and grill, located on the corner of College and McCall.
Lt. Al Giardello Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 Honestly, there's nothing really special about Toronto. If you wanna have a fun time, Montreal is much better.
Lord of The Curry Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 Montreal doesn't have The Hotbox Cafe, thus making it inferior to Toronto. Montreal is a better party city and has hotter women but that's the only thing it beats Toronto on.

Lord of The Curry Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 Yup. They've had a long-standing agreement with the local cops that nobody starts shit or does it off the property and they're good. Plus, who's ever heard of a fight breaking out at a weed cafe? Everybody is too focused on getting a smoothie.
bob_barron Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 I find the giant HMV on Yonge better than the giant Sam on Yonge. HMV has a better selection, but it's overpriced as well. Sunrise Records and Best Buy are the two places to check out.

Lord of The Curry Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 Once you get to Kensington Market just find Baldwin St. and the Roach-A-Rama head shop. The cafe is located in the back. Bring ID and (obviously) weed because fishing will get you the boot.
bob_barron Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 I think I've been to Roach-a-Rama, don't know about the Hot Box.
Red Baron Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 You have to get a hotdog from a Vendor outside the Skydome. Go towards Gate 5/6 Area. Best hot dogs in the city.
dubq Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 You can hang with me! You're very short in person.
Sideburnious Posted September 20, 2006 Author Report Posted September 20, 2006 So yeah, I've been hanging around for the last couple of days. Its a pretty cool city, and at least it's been good weather (for most of it). I decided to go to Unforgiven the night I arrived (as it was on, I haven't followed in a while) it was good fun and the first WWE event I've been to. Followed that up last night with the Maple Leafs game. Again, a great expierience, but most of the audience were pretty pissed off about it. I think I'm going to try and get tickets to that myspace blackcarpet Borat screening tomorrow.I was going to catch it in Dublin, but seeing its on the sameday, I have no problem seeing it here. It'll probably be harder to get a ticket here though. I think I'll try and catch a few concerts and a show at the Second City too. Anyone know if the current show is any good? As far as the whole cd shop thing: I liked the layout of Sam the Record man, saw some good stuff but yeah, a bit overpriced. I've seen better HMV's too. Where is the Best Buy? Is that on Yonge St. too? I'm positive I saw one last night when I was walking, but I couldn't see it today. The best place I've found so far for cd's is some second hand store between bloor st. and queen st. (as you can tell, I haven't ventured far from the subway line/ yonge st.) Oh and those hotdogs do kick ass. I put too much shit on mine though, and found green shit all over my wallet today. As in terms of Pizza: where is the best place? Is Pizza pizza really the best? I had it today, and it was great, but just incase mamma's or somewhere else was better. (and I'd hang with Barron, he can be my wing man).
Lt. Al Giardello Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 Have you been to the Hockey Hall of Fame yet?
Lord of The Curry Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 Pizza Pizza is pretty fuckin generic shit. D'Amatos is the best, IMO.
CanadianGuitarist Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 This is not a knock on street meat, but try a Jamaican Patty. Trust me. Also, I'd recommend Pizza Nova. Pizza Pizza is pretty good, but from a chain that big, there's nothing out of the ordinary. Is the film festival still going on?
bob_barron Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 The Best Buy is on Bay and Dundas to the right of the Eaton Centre. I like Pizza Pizza, their bacon cheesburger pizza is ace. I did have D'Amatos on Sunday and it was really good. The film fest ended on Saturday

I did have D'Amatos on Sunday and it was really good. There is no D' in Amatos.. That said, Amatos is great but Papa Ceo's is by far the best pizza in Toronto. The slices are absolutely gigantic and they are more generous with the toppings than Amatos is. Pizza Pizza is fine for what it is - inexpensive, widely available, and not greasy at all. Mama's Pizza is also a good alternative that is widely available. Pizza Nova, akin to Pizza Hut, is greasy and disgusting.
bob_barron Posted September 21, 2006 Report Posted September 21, 2006 You're very short in person. Given that I'm very short, that's not a surprise.
Slayer Posted September 21, 2006 Report Posted September 21, 2006 Maybe he meant you're easily angered
dubq Posted September 21, 2006 Report Posted September 21, 2006 You're very short in person. Given that I'm very short, that's not a surprise. Nah, I'm just saying. Assuming that was you I thought I saw a week ago coming out of a Wendy's near Yonge/College - really, who else wears their hats like that?? I always thought you'd be a tall lanky guy, at least 6'.
bob_barron Posted September 21, 2006 Report Posted September 21, 2006 That was me, since I go that Wendy's all the time. And someone thought I was 6'? Lolz!
