Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted September 27, 2006 How many long losing streaks have the Cards had this year. I didn't realize this was their seventh in a row and I think they already had a couple losing streaks of at least seven earlier. But dear god, don't blow this. Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted September 27, 2006 Well in a way, I like seeing these new teams in the playoffs. Now I won't have watch bandwagon fans at bars cheering for the Angels during the postseason. Detroit's the only new team in so far. Minnesota is making its fourth appearance in five years, and Oakland its fifth in seven seasons.

Guest Felonies! Report post Posted September 27, 2006 I know I'm gonna root for the Twins from here on out. Likable bunch of players, winning it for Kirby Puckett, all that jazz. Plus, Minneapolis is pretty cool.
Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted September 27, 2006 I just saw the replay on Utley's "homerun", and wow, how did the ump miss that? You can clearly see it kick to the right off the foul pole before hitting the top of the fence. Video is on this page.
Guest Paul Report post Posted September 27, 2006 Chien Ming Wang will start game 1 of the ALDS. Never thought I'd be saying that a year ago...but I'm happy. Wang makes his final regular season start tonight, looking for win # 19. The Big Unit is ready for game 3.

Imagine if the series is tied 1-1 with the Little Eunich starting game 3 and Wright pitching game 4 with the Yankees down 2-1.
Slayer 0 Report post Posted September 27, 2006 The NFL still hasn't recovered from the 8-8 Vikings and 8-8 Rams getting in. Getting in and winning on the road
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted September 27, 2006 A-Rod owns the Twins in the playoffs. I expect him to step up huge again.
Guest Paul Report post Posted September 27, 2006 He did bomb the Twinkies in 04. But we all know how that ended... Wang and Mussina must be a competent 1-2 punch. They can't count on Randy for too much.

devo 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2006 Ramon Castro hits a double on his first at-bat back from the disabled list. Thank God the days of Mike DiFelice and Kelly Stinnett are (probably) over.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2006 I haven't paid much attention to Utley's defense, but he seems to make a lot of errors when I watch Phillies games; specifically when trying to turn two.

devo 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2006 Pedro Martinez should not get a spot on the playoff roster. There. I said it.

devo 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2006 Final line for Martinez... 2.2 IP, 8 H, 7 ER, 2 BB, 1 K, 2 HR Christ.
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2006 A part of me hopes Cincinnati doesn't win again tonight so that'll squash the faint playoff chances they have. It's bad enough that St. Louis will either crawl into the playoffs or Houston pissing off everyone except one person by going through the backdoor into the playoffs. It'd be really bad if Cincinnati gets in because they aren't that good and would just be slammed in the playoffs anyways.
NYU 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2006 The Mets knew they had potential pitching problems back in July and could have helped them a little by acquiring Barry Zito. At least there wouldn't be this complete panic now seeing Pedro fall apart before everybody's eyes.

Guest Paul Report post Posted September 28, 2006 Yanks are mashing the O's for Wang's 19th win, tied with Johan. Giambi, Cano, Matsui and Sheff are on fire. This is good. Damn, Pedro bombed. Is he supposed to start game 1, or will that now be changed to Glavine?
devo 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2006 The official line was that Pedro would start Game One if he was healthy, and that Glavine would start said game otherwise. I'm guessing Glavine will get the job at this point.
NYU 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2006 I believe they said Glavine might not necessarily start Game 1. They were leaning towards El Duque pitching Game 1 with Glavine taking Game 2. That's according to the New York newspapers though.
Guest Paul Report post Posted September 28, 2006 Edit: WEIRD double post... I dunno about starting Duque for game 1. Gotta do what ya gotta do? I haven't looked (not sure it's finalized), but I'm guessing the Yanks have Wright and Lidle as SP's on the PS roster. Surely they'll have Cairo playing as well. NYU 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2006 Duque was a great postseason pitcher....about ten years ago. I definitely don't like him being in that position in 2006 though. It's amazing how fast the wheels have fallen off.
Guest Paul Report post Posted September 28, 2006 Duque was a great postseason pitcher....about ten years ago. Oh trust me, I remember. he was effective for the Yankees in 2004 during the stretch. And hell, if I'm not mistaken, he did well with the Chi-Sox last post season. He IS a big game pitcher. But I could see him being hit or miss.

devo 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2006 I have no idea why lefties don't just throw continous sliders out of the zone to Adam Dunn. He's embarassed himself twice tonight flailing at such offerings.
