Conspiracy_Victim 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2006 I'd hold off on VA until Thursday at the earliest. I have the feeling there's a lot of absentee/military personnel ballots that have yet to be counted. That one could take a while. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. I shudder. Government is going to look like those free-for-alls the Japanese Diet puts on TV every once in a while. Gridlock, thy name is government.
Guest Report post Posted November 8, 2006 I always thought the tax out in California was really high as it was. They were going to increase it again? Keep in mind I'm speaking from spitting distance of Tobacco Road here, where a pack of, say, Camels is only $3.00. My friend just came back from San Diego about a month ago and they were closer to $5.00. It is pretty high. If the prop. passed, I think it was going to be raised 2-3 more bucks. I really hate cigarettes, so I wanted the prop. to pass.
BorneAgain 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2006 Webb now up to 8000 votes with 99.63% in.

BUTT 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2006 The aftermath should be great. How do you spin getting your ass beat? I wanted to find this out, so I went to the Pit to see what MikeSC had to say. Apparently, this election gave the Dems a small boost while clearing out the Republican dead weight and "2008 will be glorious".

I personally try to keep my head down and out of the line of fire as much as possible around election time. I go out, vote, and go home to stock up on canned goods, bottled water, and ammunition. Yes that was a joke.

Timmy8271 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2006 Timmy-Why should Ford give a fuck you to his own state? Because he lost? No. I would just like to see it happen just to spice things up. I know he's too big of a man to do that. Democrats aren't going to help America but they will be better received worldwide than Bush's people. Not that that means anything. BorneAgain 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2006 If a recount happens, its gonna be hard for Allen to close an 11,000 vote gap.
Hasbeen1 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2006 So basically you had no reason to say that. Looking at the numbers, Ford appealed in Tennessee mostly to the poor, in rurals and cities, and blacks who make up just 15 percent of the population. By poor I meant those making 15,000 or less, not just "everybody besides the rich." There's a lot more in Tennessee doing well than not, no matter the national perception. And yes, CNN is still discussing the Ford "call me" ad. When one of the commentators said "it was just on two days" the other answered yes, but it was shown nationwide when it was discussed for several more. And yes, CNN, whose fault was that? Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2006 I almost posted earlier to wonder how Tyler was doing and would venture that he was probably hammered one way or another. I know I'd need to get ripped after such a campaign, win or lose.
Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2006 I give up on waiting for Montana, I need to sleep. Before I go to bed though, a comment on the bias of the media tonight: You want bias? Why the fuck hasn't anyone reported on there being a Socialist senator now? It isn't just an "independent," it's an independent that's representing an actual third party. I don't expect Fox to mention it, but the Communist News Network certainly should. Socialists in 2008 and beyond!
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted November 8, 2006 The extent of this night's victory didn't hit me until the few minutes MSNBC took to show the various Republican incumbent losses, and the House majority looks pretty solid (in the neighborhood of 30 or more) whereas the Senate majority we're all waiting to hear about would be one guy at most. Also, the areas in which Democrats won are surprising to me. Indiana, Kentucky, KANSAS?! Reading an article in TIME about Dean being the democratic chair, I have to say the man's fucking awesome. His strategy come election time was to be competitive in states that the Democratic Party idiotically in the past, hadn't bothered to focus on because they felt they had no chance of winning, so he abandoned the whole "red state, blue state, swing state" philosophy and worked on making waves nationally. For all the talk the neocons said about Doctor Howie being too extreme for the DNC, the way the Dems are winning the election is by having a lot of these challengers be much more moderate than in previous elections. edit: also, yay Socialism! BUTT 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2006 I just think it's funny that news sources are listing Lieberman and the Socialist dude as Dems. I mean, they basically are, but still, CNN.com has a place in their listings all set aside for the independents - and it says Democratic - 49 Republican - 49 Independent - 0 No, there aren't zero fucking independent senators! There are two! What the fucking fuck! How goddamn stupid are you CNN? Uggggggghhhhh.
Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2006 Eh, all the networks and news services are doing that based upon their voting tendencies. It isn't technically right, but whatever it takes to continue the two party monopoly I guess.
Perfxion 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2006 Lieberman is a Dem, but ran and an independent because he lost as we all know. So him being counted is ok. The other independent is a true one, but since he votes with the "left" most "left news networks" will rope him into that. One of the Congressional reps in Texas is really a libertarian, he "sided" with the right because he says "its a two party system", but he shouldn't be counted with the "right". bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2006 Well, assuming the results hold... Good news: the INCOMPETANT FUCK UPS are gone. Possible Bad news: the Democrats we've come to know and "love" are in power. We'll see, but one thing is clear, we couldn't leave the republican incompetant fuck-ups in office to f-up even more than they have with All 3 branches of the gov't. Not a big fan of parties, but I'm more in favor of the general principle of having the opposition party have some power, and forcing various people to move to the center. Bottom line, the Republicans had 6 years to do their thing, and they blew it by fucking up at every opportunity. The 2 party makes it so to hold em accountable we have to take a chance on the other guys. When 08 comes around, you have to hope we get a new batch of Republicans who aren't f-ups like these guys.
