boxofficemojo shows the total for each movie for all the weeks it has been out, what each movie was at last week to show how many spots it dropped, etc., etc., etc., BOB.

A few Box Office #s threads ago, I called Open Season being number 1 and several people told me I would be wrong...never underestimate the power of talking animals.

I can't believe anyone thought Jackass 2 or Kevin Costner would beat it.

As for next week, it's the start of October and there hasn't been a good horror movie since....well, it's been awhile. TCM:TB will probably just outrun The Departed while Dane "go away already" Cook will slide into third.

I took my daughter to see Open Season Friday night. The theater wasn't even half full. It was an ok flick though as far as talking animals go.
I took my son to see it yesterday; I don't think that the theater was even a quarter full. Go figure.

EDIT - It was interesting to actually hear the lyrics to that Teddy Bear song, though; aside from a ten-second clip in a commercial that used to come on when I was a teenager, I've never heard that song, ever.

You don't have any cheapie theaters near you Lushus?

That way you can pretend like you wanted to take her to the movie but at DVD price!

well, I usually buy all those movies for her anyway...good way to get a kid outta your hair for an hour or two? throw in a DVD in their room!

I have much to learn from you for my horrible kid filled future, master.

So... three months to the next CGI Talking Animal movie?

Zoo animals.......check

Farm animals......check

Backyard critters...check

PETA don't eat us animals.....check

Then next one has to be about Cats, Dogs, Hamsters, or Lobsters/Fish escaping from the restuarant live tank.

never underestimate the power of Shrek.

on a similar note, Little Mermaid FINALLY comes out on DVD tomorrow..my #3 Disney non-CGI film of all time behind Lion King and Beauty and the Beast.

God man, remember when Disney used to be able to make GOOD cartoons? That is a severely lost art. And considering how incredibly burnt out I am on CGI now, I really wish some talented artists and writers would get together for one that wasn't filled with pop culture catchphrases.

I tell you what though, The Incredibles is one of the greatest animated movies (CGI or otherwise) I have ever seen.

Also, Don Bluth was a severly underrated artist who's studios pumped out a few good hits: Secret of NIMH, All Dogs Go To Heaven, Land Before Time, American Tail, the Dragon's Lair/Space Ace games...

You can't go wrong with Craig T. Nelson and Samuel L. Jackson. Two men who you must include the middle intial no matter what.

I rather enjoyed Ice Age though I'm yet to see the sequel. Heard it wasn't that good.

Disney animation used to love to kill parents didn't they? The only one of recent memory I can remember where the parent didn't die was "Little Mermaid" and I'm pretty sure they were working that Ariel's mom died or something.

Bambi's mom got shot

Simba's dad plummeted to his death and then was stampeded (ouch)

Dumbo's mom died, I know I remember that dark mess

Man, Disney was dark.
