Giuseppe Zangara 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2006 Granted, I'm not well-versed in the genre, but finding a legit good prog album cover is tough. King Crimson, for instance, doesn't have any that are better than just okay and a few that are outright awful. The cover for In the Court... is famous, but I think the painting itself is garish. JangoFett4Hire 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2006 Who's the guy that did the bulk of the covers for Yes?
Giuseppe Zangara 0 Report post Posted October 7, 2006 Roger Dean. Those covers had a distinctive look, but I hate that fantasy/sci-fi stuff, so whatever. To be fair to EL&P, there's this: but they brought in a ringer for that one.

Giuseppe Zangara 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2006 The Dean stuff is nice, I suppose, but I just can't stand that sort of thing. Speaking of Dean/Yes, Close to the Edge is comparatively tame. If it weren't for the font used in the band's name and album's title, I never would've thought it was him.
Guest Felonies! Report post Posted October 8, 2006 Tago Mago is my favorite Can cover. He's speaking his mind!
Slayer 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2006 Also, Love Beach was one of those "we're just gonna make a lazy record because we really want to close-out our contract" albums

Slayer 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2006 I love a lot of prog rock, yet aside from any Roger Dean work, I can barely think of any covers I'd be "proud" to post in this thread

Guest Felonies! Report post Posted October 8, 2006 I was downloading some NFL Films music once and accidentally downloaded a Gentle Giant song, because both albums were called The Power and the Glory. It was okay.

Neil-o-Mac 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2006 I'm surprised no-one's mentioned Dark Side of the Moon yet. Well, now I have. Some of Porcupine Tree's covers are cool too. Lasse Hoile does some great stuff for them.
snuffbox 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2006 You don't see Porcupine Tree mentioned nearly enough around here.
