Recommended Posts

It's that time of year.

Who: Toys "R" Us.

What: Annual Buy 2 Get 1 Free sale on ALL* videogames.

When: Sunday, October 22nd - Sunday, October 29th.

*All communication that we have received at TRU indicates that all formats will be included (GC, PS2, XBOX, XBOX360, GBA, NDS, and PSP). The exact verbage we have received on in-store communication and signage is "Buy any 2 videogames, get 3rd free. Free item of equal or lesser value".

I'm thinking of getting Bully and Yakuza, and some other random game, which I won't open and swap it back for WWE Smackdown .VS. Raw 2007, when that comes out.

Anyone thinking of getting anything?

I might hit this up for DS games, although I'm not sure what. Mario Hoops 3 on 3 and Clubhouse Games both look interesting; and I could use my own copy of New Super Mario Bros.

Hrm... If they're running a decent package for the X-Box 360 that week, it would be a good time for me to pick up a system plus Dead Rising, Saints Row, Prey, etc.

No, but you can buy the three games during the sale, keep the receipt and don't open them, and exchange them for different games within 30 days of your original puchase. That's what I'm doing, get two games I want, and pick a full price free game, then exchange it for Smackdown .VS. Raw 2007 when that comes out November 14th.

Well, I'm going to wait until the 24th when the new Splinter Cell comes out, then pick it up with a couple of other games. IIRC, you can mix and match system games right? If so, now might be the best time to finally get Guitar Hero. Splinter Cell, GH, and another 360 game like Dead Rising or maybe Prey (FPS isn't my favorite genre though).

I might get Splinter Cell Double Agent and 2 others. Maybe I'll finally get Kingdom Hearts 2.

Ahhh yes KH2. Forgot about that one. At this point I'll probably just wait until it hits best-selling status then get it for 20 bucks.

KH2 is a game I've been planning to get since day 1. I just keep putting it off and putting it off.

The only reason I wouldn't get it now is cause of FFXII. I have limited time/interest to play a long RPG now and FFXII takes priority.

I don't know if that will happen any time soon. The game is really popular, enough for them to justify selling it for pretty much full price still even though it's been out for like seven months.

Yeah, but I've got enough to keep me busy. Shoot I forgot Bully's coming out before the sale too. Hopefully it'll live up to the hype (both intentional and unintentional). Decisions, decisions...

It isn't Greatest Hits because GH status in the US requires:

a) selling 400,000+

b) being out 9 months.

KH2 hit the first requirement a hell of a long time ago (within the first week, IIRC), but it only came out late March. So it *can't* go GH until December.

I may buy Bully at least partly as a big finger to Jacky boy.

I'm aiming for 9 Xbox 360 games along with Okami for PS2, and probably a couple DS games. At least one of those 360 games will remain sealed and be traded for SD vs. Raw, and probably a second for Gears of War. Then, when I get paid at the beginning of November, I can actually buy a 360 (I almost did a couple weeks ago but I got a guitar). :)

I was going to hold off this year until I realized there are some pretty good games out this week/next week.

A combination of Justice League: Heroes, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, Bully and/or Family Guy would be nice. Most likely the first three because I think Family Guy is $29.99 and all the others are $39.99.

Starting tomorrow, EB/GameStop are having a Buy 2, Get 1 Free Sale on all used DVDs, accessories, videogames, and systems. Offer last from Friday, October 20th - Sunday, October 29th.

I'm thinking of getting Tekken 4 and 5, not sure on the free game.

You can also stack this sale on top of their current DVD sale:

3 DVDs for $10, if priced $5.99.

3 DVDs for $20, if priced $9.99.

3 DVDs for $30, if priced $12.99.

Which would mean, (with both sales):

4 DVDs for $10, or 9 DVDs for $20, etc., if priced $5.99.

4 DVDs for $20, or 9 DVDs for $40, etc., if priced $9.99.

4 DVDs for $30, or 9 DVDs for $60, etc., if priced $12.99.

I went to GameStop and got:

The Warriors: $17.99.

Tekken 5: $17.99.

Tekken 4: $9.99/Free with the sale.

Total, after 10% Edge Card discount, plus tax: $34.33.

This would have been a great deal, 1. If Target didn't have Madden '07 for 39.99 and 2. Some of the games were on sale

Toys R'Us isnt vey popular where I live. It's deserted most of the time (which is good come PS3 time)

So I finally get to Toy 'R Us and I don't see any copies of Bully. Thinking they sold out of the shelved copies, I ask one of the floor guys. He goes into the back and digs around to no avail. He finally talks to a floor manager who tells him that they sent their copies of Bully back because it was too violent. Meanwhile Scarface, Godfather, GTA: SA and GTA: LCS are all sitting on the shelves. I mentioned that to the sales associate, who didn't have an answer (not that I expected one).

I ended up getting Kingdom Hearts 2, Okami, and Splinter Cell DA (360 version). I'm hoping Okami lives up to what I read in the Okami thread.

Plus, I order the .hack/GU special edition. Should be here in a week or so. That should give me a chance to finish the first series so I can unlock everything on GU.
