NYU 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2006 Before I start this, I'm fully aware of the abundance of cage matches we've had recently. The Chamber of Hell at World Without End, War Games at Syndicated, and whatever else will be thrown at us soon. But this is going to be different. I promise. Now, I've always thought the Triple Cage match that WCW had was one of the greatest wrestling concepts I've ever seen. Look at Slamboree 2000 (DDP vs. Jeff Jarrett vs. David Arquette lolz) or Ready to Rumble to elaborate. The problem was that the match was never close to being properly utilized. WCW had an excellent idea on their hands, but they didn't have the creative mind to best use it. This is where we come in. I wanted to have a Triple Cage match for November Reign with a few minor changes. First off, I want it to be multiman. Ideally, I would like to include roughly eight people in the match -- Drek, obviously, and seven other guys that want to take part. And the specifics of the match: The first match is just a normal Hell-in-the-Cell. We have eight wrestlers fighting in that level. They have to set up a ladder in the middle of the ring and climb into the second level to advance. Once four superstars get up there, the trapdoor is locked and the second round of the match begins. The second stacked cage, a little smaller, has weapons lined up along the wall and on the floor. This time they have to climb a rope ladder -- two of them will be set up in opposite corners -- to get to the third tier. Once two superstars advance, the gates are shut again. Now we're in the final stage. I haven't completely figured this out, but maybe have the walls wrapped in razor-sharp barbed wire. There's a rope hanging from the roof into the third cell. The wrestler has to climb this rope to get to the top of the final cell. They then reach up and grab the Heavyweight Title. I have a few memorable spots planned for this one already but, for the sake of surprise, I'm going to keep them to myself at this point. Now...overbooked? Sure, definitely. Complicated? Absolutely. But I think it could be such a fun Main Event -- perhaps one of the most crazy and exciting we've ever done for a PPV -- and it's about time we introduce another new match into the OAOAST. I also realize that some of you might have your feuds already set for November Reign. If that's the case, might I suggest that some of you just add a Triple-Cage-Qualifier stipulation to your match? Run your finish as normal, but just make it known that the winner is moving on to the huge Main Event at the end of the night. And for those of you that don't have a match planned yet for November Reign, if you want, you can just schedule your guy for this Title match and leave it at that. I have a pretty solid concept of where I want to go with this, and I hope others have ideas of their own. If anybody has any questions about this match, or want to volunteer a character for it now, just let me know. Thanks.
KingPK 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2006 If you want PK involved, you can use him. He's pretty much being put on the back burner so I can focus on my new character, so you can use him however you want and I'll add in any promos or anything you want written. alfdogg 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2006 What if we just did like the 1990 Survivor Series...straight up SS elimination matches, with the survivors of each match advancing to the title match? This is assuming that no one has any plans for that show, of course.
King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted October 18, 2006 Me and Tony have one Survivor Series match in place as it is and the survivors being in the main would probably work out. But I know PRL and I have plans that are non-SS. If we didn't commit the entire show to SS rules, it shouldn't be a problem. Maybe have a limit on 4, working it so the right characters go over. Either way, I'm happy to put Bohemoth in and I might be able to put Maddix in, depending on other plans coming together or not.
alfdogg 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2006 Count in Alf and Reject for this match. They'll be my survivors from my SS matches. And keep in mind the show is in Canada, where Alf is a face.
Zack Malibu 0 Report post Posted October 26, 2006 While I don't know about any character involvment on my end just yet, I'm all for the idea.
NYU 0 Report post Posted October 26, 2006 Well, I'm up for letting some of the winners of the Survivor Series style matches at November Reign advance into the title match. Maybe have four wrestlers do it that way...and have the other four wrestlers just placed into the match itself. I'm going to come up with a set roster for the match sometime soon. I wanted to keep the lineup at eight and, looking at the people who have volunteered their guys, I have more than that. So let me get back to you all soon. alfdogg 0 Report post Posted October 29, 2006 Any chance on getting an update before HD this week? I wanted to announce my survivor matches on this show.
NYU 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2006 Sorry guys. I've had the roster for a few days but I forgot to post it. My bad. What I want to go with: Drek Stone Hoff Zack Malibu Alfdogg Tony Brannigan Bohemoth Peter Knight Reject Alf, I know you were planning to use entry into this match as a winning stipulation for your other November Reign matches. What is everyone else planning to do? Do you just want your spot announced or do you want the entry to be used as a stipulation in another match?
NYU 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2006 Oh yeah, and for anybody who wants to help write such a fun, intriguing, interesting match... It should go without saying that your help would be incredibly appreciated.
KingPK 0 Report post Posted November 17, 2006 (edited) Can I switch PK to James Riggs? I wouldn't make much sense for Knight to just show up and be in the match since everyone else seems to be earning their spots Speaking of, I'd like to do a 10 to 15-man battle royal on the Thanksgiving HD to give Riggs his spot. EDIT: If you've already started the match with Knight in it, I'll just have him be a surprise entrant and win it, no problem there. It's just that I'm pretty much done with the Knight character and this would give Riggs a good rub. Edited November 17, 2006 by KingPK
Zack Malibu 0 Report post Posted November 17, 2006 Malibu/Cortez for a spot was made official last night, so w00t and stuff!
NYU 0 Report post Posted November 18, 2006 Sorry all, I really botched the buildup for this. It might come down to my total lack of organization skills but I haven't developed a storyline the way I wanted. I'm considering scratching the thing at this point since I had this big, huge, exciting idea in my head...and I feel like I won't be doing the match justice with the job I've done building it up. There are plenty of other matches for November Reign that could very easily slide into the Main Event slot...but that's up to you. We could still do this match if you all think it'd be best to, but I'll readily admit that I would need at least one person to help me put it together. The more people who want to write, trust me, the better. It seems I pitched the match a little too late -- once everybody had their November Reign PPV matches already set -- to get the kind of participation I wanted. So just let me know. ...and PK, I think it goes without saying that slipping in James Riggs wouldn't be a problem if we do go through with the match. As if I have ever, ever started a match before the day it was due.
NYU 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2006 Sorry if this ruins anybody's plans -- I think they mainly hurt mine -- but I'm not going to be able to write this match for the reasons stated above. I'll write something for November Reign to give a storyline explanation as to why. Again, sorry everybody.
alfdogg 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2006 NYU, send me a PM with your booking plans you had for this match, and I'll see what I can write up. We'll move the show back to Monday.
alfdogg 0 Report post Posted November 27, 2006 Hey. Just spoke with NYU, and we've decided that the ME, unfortunately, isn't going to happen after all. I would suggest US/Canada, for the feel-good ending thing, but quality-wise, I wouldn't say that it's really PPV ME-quality. Maybe stick Cortez/Malibu in that spot instead? Tony149 0 Report post Posted November 27, 2006 (edited) Yeah, Malibu vs. Cortez was my choice to ME should the original ME fall through. Maybe some brief explaination for no match. Any ideas? Edited November 27, 2006 by Tony149
Zack Malibu 0 Report post Posted November 27, 2006 I get the ME slot? Awww! lol. I assume we are still putting the show up tomorrow night, which is great since I postponed finishing up a little bit, but can finish up tomorrow from work. As for storyline explanation, let me know what you're going to do so that I can tie it into my match commentary.
alfdogg 0 Report post Posted November 27, 2006 NYU did mention above that he'd have an explanation for the show. I sent him another PM about it.
alfdogg 0 Report post Posted November 28, 2006 I was thinking maybe we could do an angle where all the would-be qualifiers were granted a shot at the title at whatever point of their choice down the road? Or would that be overkill?
King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted November 28, 2006 I skimmed and picked up the words 'future contenders' and 'shot'. Whether I'd have come to the natural conclusion I did this time last year, I don't know. It's a decent idea, but let's not forget we have Zack and PRL both with guaranteed World Title contracts already.
