See, thanks, HS, for the perfect example. You could have probably gotten me with a good putdown in regards to my potential lack of objectivity. (well, you might not have been able to, but someone smarter might have). And instead the best you came up with was a sentence fragment, that wasn't either a damning critique of my lack of objectivity or an original/funny putdown.

It's Halloween, Czech. With the constant ringing of the doorbell, and my subsequent trips back and forth to the front door, the shit would harden making the sculpture an embarrassing failure. Trick or Treating ends at 7:00 (Eastern) so I'll get cracking in about 25 minutes or so.

Alina is a very pleasant person to talk to and despite the bit of fallout we've had in the past I'll still say she's one of the few people I hope to never lose contact with. Her only fault is she can lose trust and faith in people too quickly (no matter how close to her they may be) but its understandable that she have her guard up like that with what she's gone through. Either way I've no problem saying I legitimately care about her and think she's a very good person. I'm sure others would agree with me if they only got to know her as well too.

 

I'm not readin the whole thread but at least there will be one legit response to it.

that's all well and good, Fridge, but what's the point in being guarded on a messageboard? I can understand in a real world environment when you're interacting with the same people on a daily basis (or potentially interacting with them), but on a messageboard...?

Only thing I don't get is how people expect it to change if they just keep trying to pick little fights. The thing I've learned is that at times she needs her space and when that time comes just let her be and don't take her blowing off steam personally (even if directed at you). Once she cools down and its out of her system she's fine and dandy again. If people just give in though and throw stuff back then it makes a mountain out of a mole hill.

 

I dunno, I'm able to understand her pretty well and I know she understands me exceptionally well so none of it bothers me anymore if she gets a little sour. I just step back, let her get ahold of herself and then I'm there for her if and when she's ready to talk again.

 

Of course it also took two years (I think its close to two years now anyways) of many good conversations and many stupid little fights before getting on the same page.

The thing I've learned is that at times she needs her space and when that time comes just let her be and don't take her blowing off steam personally (even if directed at you). Once she cools down and its out of her system she's fine and dandy again. If people just give in though and throw stuff back then it makes a mountain out of a mole hill.
