Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted April 24, 2007 Yeah, someone will, I think it would be later though. Henson got a 6th round pick, but that was for a QB, I tend to think the demand for Samardzjia would not be as high being a WR, but I think it could happen. And the fact his numbers were a tad inflated and inconsistent in college. But yeah, if someone has a pick to throw away, they might do it anyway just for the hell of it. Broward83 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2007 What are the chances AP falls to Houston, you guys think? I pray we don't draft him. Fuck it.. we don't need AP. We need to pick up either an LT or just draft Hall from Michigan. The only reason we pick up AP is if we can trade him for someone else's earlier or later pick and a Rd 2 or so.. Hasbeen1 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2007 The talk around my way is the Falcons should have kept the QB that went to Houston and swapped Vick for whoever was willing to give away the house, picks and current players. It can't be all the receivers fault, though they did have too many drops. A new coach should help things but I think the city is ready to complete turn against Vick. As for the draft, I never was impressed really with the LSU QB, thought the players around him made him look better, but after seeing him in person I believe he will be a franchise type. The reason you pick up AP is because if AP falls that far, the Houston fanbase will revolt if they pass on him after last year's "unpleasantness". Aren't Houston fans still ever-so-slightly kicking themselves for passing on Peppers to take Carr?
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2007 Well if they had Peppers, they wouldn't have needed Mario Williams, and therefore would have picked up Vince Young last year, though they did need a franchise quarterback back then too.
Guest Richard McBeef Report post Posted April 25, 2007 Adrian Peterson needs to fall to Chicago. This means trading up, of course. We need two Adrian Petersons at running back. I call it the John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt formation.
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2007 What? No. Chicago doesn't need to get Peterson. Don't be silly. We already have one anyways. I like what Kiper has predicted the Bears to be getting (Steve Smith, WR) more than I would Peterson, who don't get me wrong, is a great player, but we have a running back. sfaJack 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2007 Aren't Houston fans still ever-so-slightly kicking themselves for passing on Peppers to take Carr? Uh, no. At the time, barely anybody thought Peppers was a wiser pick than Carr. It sure looks bad now, but hindsight is 20/20 and all of that.
Broward83 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2007 Yeah, no one in Houston back then was thinking about Peppers as a pick. Things for us as a team seemed to get thrown out of whack early on when Mike Vick came out a year early to enter the draft. Had he stayed in for his full term, he would've come out the year we had our first draft and would've more than likely been our pick. At first, we loved Carr. Granted, I was one of the people on the Joey Harrington bandwagon that thought he would've done better than David. (hindsight is a motha-fucka..) I of the belief that if we're going to get behind the "draft for need" aspect that I see the Texans have been going, then we need to get an OT with the first pick or pick up Hall. Picking up AP, like I said.. I hope it ends up in us trading him for a few draft picks that we can use to replace what we gave to Atlanta for this year. I think if he's available for us to take in a mid to late round.. either Kolb or Troy Smith would be a good back-up / insurance policy if this whole Schaub thing falls thru. It can't be all the receivers fault, though they did have too many drops. A new coach should help things but I think the city is ready to complete turn against Vick. If they had done that they would be doomed to watching Vick win elsewere, watching Shaub do nothing, and sucking as a franchise (you know...back to normal). Dante Hall got traded tothe Rams for a 5th round pick. Great trade for the rams as there were ready to draft a kick returner, thus got a decent one in Hall. the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2007 Besides the fact that they wouldn't get a Herschel Walker deal for him anyway. Nobody gives up those type of deals in the salary cap era when they would be taking on a contract like Vicks. You might get a high first for him, maybe a 1st plus but I doubt you could get a team rebuilding deal.
Guest Queen Leelee Report post Posted April 25, 2007 I really really really hope Peterson drops to 12. But, that won't happen. And Marvin Levy will pick Hall if he's still there, or that LB from Ole Miss. Both are which are boring.
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted April 25, 2007 Since I assume it's draft related, the Chiefs are apparently shopping Larry Johnson for picks and etc.
the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted April 26, 2007 from a Don Banks column: While everyone has focused on No. 4 Tampa Bay as the most likely trading partner for No. 2 Detroit in the Calvin Johnson Sweepstakes, it's the No. 8 Falcons who might truly be in the driver's seat. Sources say Falcons owner Arthur Blank has pretty much ordered Atlanta general manager Rich McKay to do everything he can to put the team into position to land Johnson at No. 2. Blank wants Johnson for a couple of reasons. First, Johnson played at Georgia Tech and would help sell tickets to disillusioned Falcons fans who have endured two non-playoff seasons after Atlanta went to the NFC title game in 2004. Second, the Falcons still have their long-standing need of a reliable big-play receiver for quarterback to play pitch and catch with. With seven picks in the first four rounds (including two second-rounders and three in the fourth), Atlanta definitely has the ammo to make the deal with Detroit. The Falcons could send the Lions their picks at 8, 39 and 44 for the No. 2 spot, and still have a third-rounder and three fourth-rounders to fill other needs. That seems like an awful lot to move up for a receiver that you'll have to guarantee $20+ million to. And counting on 4th rounders to fill needs is a little bit of a stretch they are ok down the line picks or chips to trade up in the 2nd and 3rd rounds, by the 4th I would like to have the main needs filled. That could set up a big draft for Detroit though with 4 of the first 44 picks, an early 3rd, plus 4 5th rounders that the could use as trade bait. With everything that team needs, I don't see how they could pass that deal up if it is for real.
TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe 0 Report post Posted April 26, 2007 It would be hilarious if Atlanta moved up to No.2 and Calvin Johnson ended up getting picked by Oakland. I think the only sure fire way to get CJ right now, is to move all the way up to the top, considering Da Raiders haven't tipped their hand yet.

Ripper 0 Report post Posted April 26, 2007 It would be a ridiculously stupid idea to move anywhere for the falcons. They have all these picks, and they need help at the defensive line, offensive line, and secondary. Tossing those away so that you can get Johnson would be insane honestly. I think the only sure fire way to get CJ right now, is to move all the way up to the top, considering Da Raiders haven't tipped their hand yet. Moving to the top is way more expensive though. The Falcons would probably have to give up their entire draft this season and a second rounder next year, at least. Going to pick #2 is much more reasonable, and could easily happen if Raiders agree to a deal with JaMarcus Russell tonight or tomorrow.

the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted April 26, 2007 They are on the clock anyway. No harm in wrapping things up early. What pisses me off is when the no.1 pick has been signed and they still take the whole 15 goddamn minutes to make the pick.

TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe 0 Report post Posted April 26, 2007 Seems to defeat the purpose of the draft a little bit to me. I hate when the guy signs before Saturday. Would the #2 team then be allowed to sign their guy before the draft, too?
