CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2007 Two games that I attended in Montreal: http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/B05160MON2000.htm Javier Vazquez outduelled Randy Johnson in a 2-0 win over the Diamondbacks. Nineteen strikeouts between them. I was sitting even with third base, about 5-6 rows back. The visitor's bullpen is right there, and I got to see Johnson warm up before the game. He looks even more intimidating up close. http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/B08060MON1999.htm Tony Gwynn's 3000th hit. A fun game, too -- the Padres won 12-10. I had the day off, and was in my car listening to sports radio, when they mentioned that Gwynn would be going for his 3000th hit that night, and there were still tons of seats available, so I pulled the car onto the highway and drove to Montreal. I ended up getting a seat right behind home plate, about 20-25 rows up.
CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2007 I'm gonna be a homer and pick a Blue Jays playoff game. Game Four of the 92 ALCS. Jays trail 6-1 at one point, cut the gap down to 6-4. Alomar, as much as I dislike him now, is part of one of the most memorable images of my life as he raises his arms along the first basepath after tying the game with a two run dinger off Dennis Eckersley. EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2007 Surprisingly enough, my live MLB games tally stands at just seven. http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/B08110PHI1988.htm Phillies 1, Cardinals 0. The Cardinals' Jeff Laga hit a screaming foul ball inches above my brother's head. http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/B09171PHI1989.htm Ozzie Smith hit a home run in this game, a rare sight. http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/B04250PHI1991.htm This Phillies/Mets game I attended with a group from church, and I honestly remember nothing about the game. http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/B04280PHI2000.htm This one came with McGwire-mania in full swing, but his days were numbered at this point. Robert Person flashed some brilliance, but Mike Matheny's pickoff of Doug Glanville on second base stands out. http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/B05120PHI2005.htm Best seats I ever had to a game (not saying much). When Ryan Howard came to bat, few besides myself really knew who he was. http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/B09090PHI2005.htm Right after the Phillies were swept at home by the Astros, they demolished the Marlins here to start their ill-fated but fun rush at the wild card. http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/B09240PHI2006.htm Fan appreciation day, and another Phillies thrashing of the Marlins. Guest Smues Report post Posted January 8, 2007 Hey look another way to make myself look trendy! Games I've attended: California @ Seattle 08/14/1993 First game I ever went to, and it was 8 years before I got to go to another one. My family kinda of had a yearly tradition of driving to Seattle for a weekend and catching a Sonics game, so I whined into getting a trip over for baseball. All I really remember was that it was my sister's birthday, the Kingdome sucked, I was sad Ken Griffey was on the DL, and I liked that they had Beavis & Butthead headbanging on the screen after a homerun. Texas @ Seattle 10/4/2001 This game was originally scheduled for I think September 13th, but got moved because of 9/11. I had just moved into the dorms at UW and my dorm had like 50 tickets so I figured why not I hadn't seen a game in forever. I was incredibly impressed with Safeco Field even though the game itself was a blowout. A-rod hitting a homer for the only Rangers run of the game did NOT go over well with the crowd. Oakland @ Seattle 04/05/2002 The easiest day for me to go to ball games while at school was Friday, so I went to every Friday home game that spring. This game I had probably the best seats I ever got at Safeco. Damn Baldwin walks slow off the mound. Oh and seeing childhood hero David Justice was awesome. Texas @ Seattle 04/19/2002 Boring blowout, but Kenny Rogers threw a complete game shutout so that was cool. That, and the fake money people threw on the field everytime A-rod came up to bat. New York @ Seattle 04/26/2002 Only time I got to see Roger Clemens, so that was something. Yankees dominated the game. I did score a cool "Yankees Suck" shirt for just $10 though. Not as cool as the "Jesus Hates the Yankees" shirt I got for Christmas one year, but I still liked it. Boston @ Seattle 05/10/2002 I wanted to see Wakefield or Pedro or Lowe, instead I got Castillo, and only because he appealed his suspension. Baltimore @ Seattle 05/24/2002 Garcia was impressive. Chicago Cubs @ Seattle 06/07/2002 Both Sosa and McGriff homered. Just getting to see Fred McGriff was awesome for me. My seat sucked ass though. Very last row at the top of the stadium, right by the train tracks. St. Louis @ Seattle 06/12/2002 My parents were in town to move me back home for the summer, and father's day was that Sunday and my dad is from St. Louis so I took him (and mom) to the game as an early father's day gift. It was cool to see Pujols even though he didn't do anything. Joel Pineiro threw a great game. This was also Darryl Kile's 2nd to last start before he died. It was strange to see on the news that he had died so quickly after I had just seen him pitch. Philly @ Atlanta 09/19/2002 After years of visiting my grandma in North Augusta and having the Braves be on road trips every fucking time we finally scheduled a visit to coincide with the Braves. Turner Field is awesome, I really wish I had gotten to go to Fulton County Stadium. I don't remember who was originally scheduled to start this game, but it wasn't Glavine. I was incredibly excited when I got to the park and saw that Glavine was starting. After growing up and watching all the Braves games I could on TBS it was just an amazing feeling to finally see my team, and to get to see Tommy when I was pretty sure he wouldn't be with the team in 2003. Florida @ Atlanta 09/20/2002 Damian Moss got knocked around a bit although at the time I remember thinking he'd be pretty good in a few years. So much for that. Uneventful game really. I do remember routing for Derrek Lee because at the time my best friend's girlfriend was the cousin of Lee's wife. Odd connection there. Florida @ Atlanta 09/22/2006 Last home game of the season and a 'fan appreciation day'. Of all the prizes they had, we won the one I didn't give a shit about, a phone. Getting to see Maddux was awesome since, like Glavine, I didn't expect him to be on the 2003 squad. 4-1 going into the top of the 9th and holy shit did the place get loud when Smoltz' music hit. He came in and struck out 2 of his 3 batters for his 53rd and NL record breaking save. I didn't wanna leave the stadium when the game was over. I'll finish this when I get home tonight. (Not that anyone cares, hell I don't think I care, but damnit I'm gonna finish it!)
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2007 Post all the minor league games you went to. You probably kept stats. Oddly enough, I did. I did work for a company called Baseball Info Solutions that paid me a nominal fee in return for sending in a computerized box score with hit locations. I've got two years worth of Scranton/Wilkes-Barre games on my desktop, about 60 or so. Posting them all would be tedious and generally uninteresting, however. CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2007 More games I've attended: http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/B06040MON1987.htm Montreal 8, San Diego 5. Saw this one on a class trip to Montreal. http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/B07110TOR1987.htm Kansas City 2, Toronto 1. My only game at Exhibition Stadium. A pitcher's duel between Jimmy Key and Bret Saberhagen, both of whom pitched complete games. http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/B04270BOS1990.htm Boston 7, Oakland 6. My only trip to Fenway Park, on a band trip to Boston. The Sox scored 3 in the ninth to win it. We had the worst seats in the place, high up in the lower level along the right field line. We couldn't see the scoreboard, and could barely see the field at times. http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/B09140TOR1991.htm Toronto 6, Oakland 0. My first game at the SkyDome. http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/B05010NYA1992.htm New York 5, Minnesota 3. My only trip to Yankee Stadium, also on a band trip. Yankees scored 3 in the eighth off Kevin Tapani (left in too long) for the win. Steve Farr got the save. http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/B10050CHA1993.htm http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/B10210PHI1993.htm These don't really count, but I saw Game 1 of the 1993 ALCS and Game 5 of the 1993 World Series on the Jumbotron at SkyDome for free. http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/B04260TOR1995.htm Toronto 13, Oakland 1. Opening Day 1995. I finally got to see Dave Stewart for the first time since the World Series win in 1993, and he goes and gives up 9 runs on 5 hits, 3 walks, an error and a wild pitch in 1 1/3 innings. http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/B08060MON1999.htm San Diego 12, Montreal 10. Tony Gwynn's 3000th hit. http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/B05160MON2000.htm Montreal 2, Arizona 0. The Vazquez-Big Unit pitching duel. http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/B04060MON2001.htm Montreal 10, New York 6. Opening Day 2001. The Big O was packed, and for the first (and only) time, I had to settle for a seat in the outfield. The returning Tim Raines got a ridiculously loud ovation when he was introduced before the game, and even louder when he walked and scored in the second. http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/B07060TOR2001.htm Montreal 10, Toronto 7. Saw this one at SkyDome. This was the only Jays-Expos game I was ever able to attend. 'Spos came back with six runs off the Toronto bullpen in the final three innings to win it. http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/B08220TOR2006.htm Toronto 4, Oakland 3 (yeah, Oakland again -- go figure). This was the night after John Gibbons challenged Ted Lilly to a fight. The section beside mine got a pretty good "Fight! Fight! Fight!" chant going when Gibbons went out to get Burnett in the seventh. I've seen four or five other Jays and Expos games that I can't recall right now. treble 0 Report post Posted January 10, 2007 http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/B09160TOR1989.htm -I think this might have been my first game. Don't remember a thing about it, really, just that we had good seats (I think it was 18 rows behind home) and that I remember Pat Borders replacing Ernie Whitt at some point as the catcher. http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/B08150MON1992.htm -I remember sitting in the first row of the upper deck behind home plate for this one. Don't remember much about the game, just my dad telling me later that Andres Galaragga hit a grand slam for the Cardinals, so that's how I looked it up. http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/B09010MON1997.htm -Biggest memory from this one is Butch Henry and Mo Vaughn colliding in the infield and it ending up in the plays of the week on This Week in Baseball. http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/B06280MON1998.htm -This is when they took the roof off of the Big O for most of the season in order to put on the new one, so it was the first game I saw that was actually played outside. Vlad Guerrero hit probably the longest home run I've seen in person pretty deep into the seats in left field, Palmeiro hit a homer pretty close to me, too. Also, got to see Ripken play during his streak. http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/B06100TOR2000.htm -Only Expos/Jays game I saw. Guerrero hit another pretty big homer, again, but this wasn't a good game at all. Tony Batista hit a HR into the Jays bullpen as we were leaving in the bottom of the 9th. http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/B07300MON2000.htm -Wanted to see Griffey play, but he went 0-4. http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/B07260MON2003.htm -Last Expos game I went to. An Expos pitcher almost got hit in the face on a comebacker, but took it in the hand instead. I was kinda mad I missed seeing Maddux pitch by a day. http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/B05090TOR2004.htm -Frank Catalonotto hit his only homer of the year in this game. I liked seeing Esteban Loaiza pitch a CG and still lose, too. http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/B06230TOR2006.htm -Delgado's first game back in Toronto. I was a little mad that I missed out on Roy Halladay pitching by a day, but I got to see a HOFer in Glavine pitch, so that was nice. Wasn't really close at all and Lastings Milledge hit a homerun and I didn't even get a high-five.

King Kamala 0 Report post Posted August 1, 2007 http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/BO...199907190.shtml The terrible Florida Marlins beat the Sox in a slugfest. Don't remember much about this except for a rain delay and some drunk guy in front of us getting ejected. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/BO...199907210.shtml Another crappy game. All I remember is my eleven year old self getting mad because a bunch of people in our section were rooting for The Orioles. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/BO...200308200.shtml Another Red Sox loss, this time to The Oakland As. All I remember from this one was everybody razzing Byung Hyun Kim and Oakland fan in our section getting ejected by the ushers for squabbling with Sox fans. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/BO...200407080.shtml Probably the best game I saw live and the first Sox win I've seen. Went at the last minute since my brothers went to a concert in Boston and my dad and I decided to tag along and see if we could get some scalped tickets to the Sox game that night since Schilling was pitching. The Sox storm out to a 7-1 lead but the As slowly catch up before the Sox squeak out a win on a walk off Bill Mueller double in the 10th. An awesome game. Ended up trading up our crappy grandstand seats we had for the first six innings for some great box seats for the last three. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/BO...200407221.shtml Pretty crummy game. All I remember is it was hot as hell (first half of a double header) and David Ortiz hit two triple (!) http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/MO...200408130.shtml My first and unfortunately last game at Olympic Stadium. Picked a good one, saw Roger Clemens pitch. Saw the tallest player ever to hit a home run hit a home run (7 foot Expos pitcher Jon Rauch off Clemens no less). Was a pretty damn good game too as well as The Expos won in 12. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/BO...200409150.shtml Don't remember much about this one except my dad's co-worker being completely plastered and showing photos of his hot girlfriend on his cell phone to a the 12 year old kids seated next to us. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/BA...200504190.shtml Don't remember too much about this one except for being taken aback by Camden Yards. Hell of a ballpark that place is. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/BA...200504200.shtml It was about 75% Sox fans that night. Absolutely crazy. Probably one of the most fun times I've had at a game. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/BA...200504210.shtml It was 50/50 this night in terms of the ratio of Orioles fans to Sox fans. The most intense atmosphere I'll ever see at an April game. Then again, I was seated in a section filled with some hardcore Os fans. Great pitching duel between Matt Clement and Rodreigo Lopez. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/BO...200508020.shtml Don't remember much about this one except being in the centerfield and everybody being in love with Johnny Damon. How quickly feelings change... Oh this was also in the weird period where Curt Schilling was the closer. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/BO...200607190.shtml Good pitching duel, another hot as hell day game. Troy Brown was in attendance for this game. My dad's former co-workers who we randomly saw after the game gave us really bad directions home. Those jerks! http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/NY...200705250.shtml Shitty park, great atmosphere. Was sitting in the upper deck with a bunch of drunken, hostile Yankees fans. Hilarious. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/BO...200707160.shtml Surprisingly good pitching performance by Kason Gabbard.
