What I'm finding amazing is that the Saints are doing all of this on defense without Hollis Thomas, who is suspended until the post-season.

Well the Cowboys always had a weak secondary that is afraid to tackle.

Not that its an excuse but wasn't Payton Romo's coach in Dallas? I could see it being a Gruden/Raiders Super Bowl type thing where Payton knows what to anticipate from Romo.

Thursday 8:00:

 

Cleveland (4-8) at Pittsburgh (5-7): This was a close game in the first go around, but somehow I can't see the Browns hanging as close on the road. Steelers by 10. (It was more like Steelers by 20. 1 for 1)

 

Sunday 1:00:

 

Indianapolis (10-2) at Jacksonville (7-5): This is always a tough one for the Colts but somehow I can't see them dropping two in a row. Jacksonville is a very up and down team, so who knows. I'll take the Colts by 3. (I think this one was the plane crashing into the mountains for Indy. 1 for 2)

 

Tenneseee (5-7) at Houston (4-8): The Titans are officially in Jobber Roll territory and there's no reason why they won't keep it going. Titans by 7. (Jobber Roll baby! 2 for 3)

 

Baltimore (9-3) at Kansas City (7-5): The Chiefs seriously need this one at home if they want to entertain playoff notions. The Ravens hit a bit of a slide with this one, KC by 6. (The Ravens were more manly. 2 for 4)

 

Philadelphia (6-6) at Washington (4-8): Who knows. The Skins might show up, might not. I will reluctantly go with the Eagles here, but they are an obvious paper tiger. Philly by 7. (A bit closer than I figured...next week the farce with Philly should cease however. 3 for 5)

 

Minnesota (5-7) at Detroit (2-10): The Lions are actually favored here, though I have no idea why. The Vikings have struggled some this year but I think they can win this one. Vikings by 4. (Vikings won it by 10 actually. 4 for 6)

 

NY Giants (6-6) at Carolina (6-6): The most bizarre matchup of the week. I think it honestly is the team that screws up the most loses. What the hell, I'll keep picking the Giants until they finally win, so NY by 1 point. 21-20. (Well, well, the Giants finally showed up. Is it too little too late? 5 for 7)

 

Atlanta (6-6) at Tampa Bay (3-9): If the Falcons want to entertain a playoff push, they have to win this game. HAVE to. Atlanta by 10. (Dead on with this one. 6 for 8)

 

New England (9-3) at Miami (5-7): Tom Brady is always good for a total tank job in Miami, and I think it'll happen once again here. I'll take the Dolphins in a mild upset, 24-17. (Brady was good for his usual South Florida tanking. 7 for 9)

 

Oakland (2-10) at Cincinnati (7-5): Once again, Bengals must win this one if they want to make the playoffs. Cincy by 14. (Bengals won here by 17. 8 for 10)

 

4:00:

 

Green Bay (4-8) at San Francisco (5-7): I keep picking the Packers but no more. The Niners are at least pretty decent at home, so I'll take them by 7. (I can't figure out either of these teams, I swear. 8 for 11)

 

Seattle (8-4) at Arizona (3-9): This actually will be pretty close I think, but the Seahawks are masters of the art of escape. Seattle by 4. (Seahawks keep living dangerously and it cost them. Not shocking. 8 for 12)

 

Buffalo (5-7) at NY Jets (7-5): The Jets are actually fairly decent, though I can't take them seriously whatsoever. Still, they should beat the Bills here by 7. (I was doing decent until these late games. Bah. 8 for 13)

 

Denver (7-5) at San Diego (10-2): Dare I say benching Plummer was a mistake? I can't see Cutler going into SD and picking up a win, sorry. Chargers by 10. (I think benching Plummer was a mistake. Broncos were a boring but competent playoff team with him, now they are just jobbers. 9 for 14)

 

8:15:

 

New Orleans (8-4) at Dallas (8-4): This should be a very good game. It really comes down to whoever has home field in my view. Thus I'll take Dallas 27-24 on another Gramatica FG. (Who fucked up worse this week, Indy or Dallas? I will say the Cowboys since they got maimed at home. 9 for 15)

It didn't change the fact that they got their asses beat in, but I have to say, in a year of really bad officiating calls, Vince Wilfork getting flagged for roughing the passer after tripping over Joey Harrington HAS to be the absolute worst and indefensible call of the year.

Who made Bills/Jets a 4:15 game? Now I can't see Broncos/Chargers.

Guess it worked out, Chargers dominated, Bills look good and my actually optimistic about there future for the first time since the hype after they signed Bledsoe in 2002.

I don't think the Bills are in the playoff race this year, but I'm optimistic about next year. The O-line and JP are finally coming togeather, McGahee played up to his potential today, D played great. Based on the last four games I think the Bills can make the playoffs next year.

Not that its an excuse but wasn't Payton Romo's coach in Dallas? I could see it being a Gruden/Raiders Super Bowl type thing where Payton knows what to anticipate from Romo.

 

Or Romo could be coming down. This is back to back games where he didn't look that great. And he hasn't looked that good at all in games against playoff contending opponents. One touchdown and five interceptions to be exact. So I'm not entirely sure it was a Payton thing. Romo is really just looking great because Bledsoe was looking so incredibly bad (big understatement). He's done a good job though, but against the playoff contenders he's not getting it done.

 

But really, the Cowboys were totally controlled and outclassed.

If the Bills finish 9-7, they have a very good chance of making it as they'd win just about every tiebreak. But, yeah, they'd have to win @BAL in the season finale... let's hope BAL's playoff position is decided before the game.

Funny how Peyton went from runaway MVP to probably not finishing in the top 2.

 

With Bush coming on strong and MJD breaking out, it should be an interesting race for Offensive ROTY. Addai, MJD, Bush, VY, Colston, Maroney, should be a tight one. Throw in Leon Washington, Owen Daniels, Mike Bell, Leinart, Gradkowski, Marcus McNeil, Santonio, Jennings, Hester on special teams, and Norwood, and you got yourself a bunch of offensive rookies having good to great years.

Wow, listening to the radio at my brother's house was pretty brutal. One guy wants the NFL to create a separate MVP just for rookies this year, since he's bummed out that Vince Young won't be winning it this year.

You know I hate to say I told you so, but...

 

I remember last year watching Maurice Drew and Reggie Bush. All the hype was on Bush, as we all know. I knew Drew was the better runner and severely underrated. Bush had some spectacular runs but Drew was a better pure runner and far more consistent. Without further ado, the stats leading up to this week..

 

Reggie Bush, NO: 12 games played, 119 carries for 368 yards (30.7 yards a game, 3.1 a carry), 4 rushing TDs. He's a better receiver, 73 receptions for 562 yards, 1 TD.

 

Maurice Jones-Drew, JAX: 12 games played, 95 carries for 500 yards (41.7 yards a game, 5.3 a carry), 7 rushing TDs. Tack on 32 receptions for 317 yards and 2 TDs on the receiving end also. Bush was a top 5 pick and Drew was drafted I believe in the lower second round. He should have gone much higher. Their situation's exactly the same too, with an established yet injury prone starter in place (Deuce McAllister and Fred Taylor).
