NBA Roundtable Discussion

Recommended Posts

This is a week old and no one was probably wondering what Byron Houston has been up to but I can't resist posting a former professional athlete, masturbation story.

Byron Houston arrested for exposure

Posted: Thursday June 14, 2007 8:29PM; Updated: Thursday June 14, 2007 8:31PM

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Former NBA player Byron Houston was arrested Wednesday on an indecent exposure charge.

A woman called police around 5:45 p.m. Wednesday to report that a man was masturbating at an intersection in northwestern Oklahoma City, police Master Sgt. Gary Knight said. Officers found Houston in the driver's seat of a vehicle with his underwear on the floorboard, and the woman positively identified him, Knight said.

Houston was arrested on counts of indecent exposure, engaging in a lewd act and driving with a canceled license. He was held at the Oklahoma County Jail on $4,000 bond. The district attorney's office had not filed charges Thursday.

The 37-year-old Houston, Oklahoma State's career scoring leader, averaged 3.9 points and 3.0 rebounds in his four-year NBA career with Golden State, Seattle and Sacramento.

He pleaded guilty to three counts of indecent exposure in 2003 and is a registered sex offender. He most recently updated his registry in March, according to the state Department of Corrections' Web site.

I had my picture taken with him at Warriors fan fest event in 1994. Can't wait to tell my grandkids.

KG says no to Boston

Agent says that if KG is traded to Boston, he will opt out and leave after one year

Poor, poor Boston. Watch them go and overpay for a Marion or Kirilenko just to save face.

I think KG wants Phoenix, and if not, he'll go sign with a contender next offseason.

That doesn't suprise me.

Unless Ainge can convince KG, he'd be an idiot to make this trade.

He'd be an idiot to make it anyway. Jefferson at 22 years old is on the verge of becoming a franchise power forward, Gerald Green is 21 with superstar potential and has barely even scratched the surface of his talent, and there's going to be some really good players for the taking at #5 in this draft. Even if you can keep KG for 3-4 years that's way too much young talent to give up.

It's only too much talent if you really think Jefferson is going to be a franchise level player. Remember that in the NBA the team acquiring the best player usually wins the trade in the short and long run. I think Jefferson has shown amazing potential but I'm not sure he'll ever be as good as KG is right now. Pierce and Garnett can get you to the ECF. I'd rather get than far that toil around with a team full of "potential."

You know, even if KG opted out next year, Boston would have a ton of caproom, right?

I wouldn't trust a Doc Rivers coached team.

The new rumored trade is KG, and Troy Hudson to Boston for Al Jefferson, Theo Ratliffe, Sebastian Telfair, Wally Szcerbiak, and the #5th pick.

That ain't happening anymore. I remember seeing a 3 way trade with KG going to Phoenix, Marion going to Boston, the #5 and the #24 picks along with fillers (expiring contracts of KT and Theo) going to Minny.

He is in his third year and averages a few less rebounds and points than KG. Take his last third of the season last year, he had better numbers than KG.

Kevin is a much better defender, playmaker and jump shooter, but Jefferson is one of the last of a dying breed in the NBA. A guy that can score with his back to the basket consistantly. Plus, once again, he is like 10 years younger. You can resign him for the next 8 years and his contract, even if he maxes out, will still be way way way cheaper than KG.

Bottomline, I wouldn't trade Jefferson for KG straight up if I were Boston, because they aren't that close to the championship. I would trade Amare for KG straight up because, although it would sacrifice a few seasons down the road, the suns are right there in the hunt right now.

Well yeah, you would just be giving up a few points for a much better rebounder.

It is being reported that Shawn Marion has said he doesn't want to play in Minnesota or Boston and he would opt out if traded, thus nixing the Suns/Boston/Wolves three way.

And apparently, that KG/Boston trade was pretty much a done deal until KG said he would opt out. Wow. I can't say I blame Minnesota for that one, but who knew Ainge was THAT insane.

I'd say so given the track record of college coaches in the NBA. Plus I thought Stan did a good job in Miami and only got booted because Shaq wanted Riley to coach the team instead. It's a solid choice for Orlando.

I wonder how many people remember that Van Gundy IS a former college coach. He used to be at the U of Wisconsin.

to quote the late great Red Auerbach "Sometimes the best deals are the ones not made". Somebody needs to take the reigns away from Ainge.

I want the Celts to try and grab Richard Jefferson. I don't think he'd cost too-too much. Maybe Wally and switching first round picks.

Wait a minute. You guys actually thought that Garnett would want to play for the Celtics?

Well ya. He had a chance to be the savior to the league's winningest franchise. The money would have been there as well. He's crazy for passing it up but I'm glad he did as the Celts would have been giving far too much up for him anyways.

Go after Jermaine O'Neil and Richard Jefferson now, both of which should come much cheaper.

Most players don't want to go to Boston because they feel the area is still a bit racist. Not that I agree with them, but that's part of the reason.

Kevin Garnett doesn't have time to become the savior of another franchise. His window is closing.

Not to mention, the team would be so gutted by that trade that they would have no opportunity to compete. Or a way to add players to the roster. He's going to opt out and go somewhere that he can win his ring. He needs to win now.

That's probably why he hasn't asked to be traded, because he knows that any team giving the goods for him isn't going able to compete for a title.

I did. They're the most successful club in league history, and look at all those games with the 76ers, Knicks, Bobcats, Hawks, and Bucks that he could clean up with.

I'm intrigued by how ridiculously awful a sans-Garnett Timberwolves team could be. 17 wins on the year, if that?

Opt out and come to Boston. Can't tell me that Rondo, Gomes, Pierce, Big Al, and Garnett with a bench of Green, West, Perk, and Wally wouldn't be one of the best teams in the East right now.

He could do that, but he's not going to play for a Boston team that would be gutted by a trade for him.

That's what I meant, I didn't mean that he would never play for Boston, no matter what happens. He's a professional, he'd play for any team if they had the goods. He just wouldn't play for that Boston team.

I wouldn't do that. Jefferson is overrated and always hurt. Keep your draft pick and draft Horford, Wright, Brewer, Green, or even YJ.

Most players? Or Barry Bonds?

And before you start, yes I know the whole "get that nigger off the field" story.

If there's other options which there is, Boston wouldn't be number one. Same thing happened with Griffey. And Marion doesn't want to go there either.

Didn't the Bulls offer Tyson Chander, Luol Deng and their two no. 1 picks for Garnett last summer? A competent GM could have snatched up Aldridge and Roy and stuck them in a rotation with Chandler, Deng, James, Hudson and Davis and STILL had two lottery picks this year in one of the best drafts in years. They literally could have turned that whole thing around in 2-3 years. Now they just have an even worse mess and aren't likely to get much for Garnett even if they manage to trade him.
