I can't root for the Bears on principle, but I can't take a second straight year of the Seawhos? in the NFC title game, so I'm in a conundrum

Root against the Seawhos. At least with the Chicago Bears involved, the games will mean something. Root for them now so you can root against them later.

The "we" and "us" mode of speech is okay when talking about your primary team, but a secondary one picked up in light of an epic postseason fuckup by the first can't get the same treatment. I thought that was part of MAN LAW.

 

Indianapolis won't make it past San Diego, so it's all good anyway. The Colts are only allowed to go to a Super Bowl if they have to go through the Patriots first to get there.

I have a random question regarding the Super Bowl. What is the ruling on jersey selection? Are the NFC/AFC set as Home/Away by record or do the teams select the jerseys they choose wear regardless of record or stadium affiliation? I ask this because I was curious to see if SD would wear the powder blue jerseys should they make it that far.

Last week it was another double "20" game with the Giants/Eagles.

 

The AFC has had some pretty bad games these two weeks...

 

Now.. with how poorly the NFC was this year in contrast to the AFC..

 

Are the AFC games "terrible" because of a lack of focus or because AFC teams are just "tougher" than NFC teams

 

or

 

are the NFC games "great" because of great offenses or because the NFC teams aren't as "strong" as AFC teams and thus, allow for a higher scoring game?

IIRC, the home/away teams rotate between the AFC & NFC every year. Not sure whose turn it is to be "home" this year.

That's the nagging thing about it, and one reason that I don't think the Bears win big tomorrow (if even at all). This team probably had the talent to go undefeated if it actually focused from game to game, but they have an unerring capability to mail it in whenever they play a team that they view as a cakewalk. From that standpoint, Seattle was probably the worst possible team that they could have stumbled on - they're arguably the worst division winning team in recent history, they're wrecked with injuries and, worst of all, the Bears are fully aware of all of it.

NFC is the home team in odd-numbered SBs, irrespective of the game site. Last year, the Steelers elected to wear white instead of black, so the NFC would be wearing darks three years in a row, most likely. Even if the NFC team chose to wore white, you can't wear third jerseys in the postseason, so San Diego woud have to wear navy. Sorry.

When Peyton stinks up the joint in 2 of the 3 AFC games so far that pretty much kills the one great offense we've seen in the conference. The Chiefs, Jets & Ravens didn't exactly live up to their ends of the bargin either. I think the biggest difference is none of the NFC teams we've seen so far are built to grind it out with defense, the running game and dinks and dunks like the Chiefs, Jets and Ravens are.

Pretty much, yeah. One other thing: I'm tired of hearing "this game hinges entirely on Rex Grossman." No it doesn't. It hinges on the defense, running backs, and special teams, namely Hester and Gould. Stop trying to make Quarterback Drama® out of everything, guys. Rex Grossman doesn't have to be the most important part of the offense, and there's a good chance that he won't be depending on the weather.

If I were the Saints, I would go into attack mode right now. Fuck a 3 point lead, with that defense, this is no time to be conservative and go for just kicking a field goal.
