MarvinisaLunatic Posted June 24, 2007 Report Posted June 24, 2007 Im personally happy that Coke brought back Vanilla Coke though I drink the Zero version only now.
Jericholic82 Posted June 29, 2007 Report Posted June 29, 2007 I gave up soda at the end of 04, becuase one I was on a health kick and trying to lose weight, more importantly soda gave me a lot of gas, diet even worse cuz it gives me stomach cramps sometimes (as does any sugar free product). since then Ill have a soda on a rare ocasion, but it tastes different to me and the gassiness is much more then I remembered it. I drank pretty much all water for 6 months and it helped me in my wieght loss, as I lost about 45 pounds or so between sept 04 and june 05. now Ill drink ice tea, vut I cut back on that at home and drinkmostly water, and arizone green tea when I can get it. eating at fast food places Ill opt for the ice tea or fruit punch when I get a combo meal or something but only have 1 glass of it, restaurants Ill just have the water. I dont really miss soda which is wierd cuz I once thought I couldnt live without it
King Kamala Posted June 29, 2007 Report Posted June 29, 2007 I've been trying to quit drinking soda for about a month and a half. I can go for a week without it but I usually just break. I try to drink Arizona Ice Tea stuff instead but it probably just has about as much sugar- so it's probably not that much healthier. I don't drink a ton and it's never really made me sick (Except for making me somewhat gassy) but I'm just trying to quit because it's crap for you.
treble Posted July 6, 2007 Report Posted July 6, 2007 My roommate brought home a 12-pack of Pepsi from work today. He got home at about 5:30 or so and I went out to the movies. I got home at around 10 and by then there were already 5 gone. He only weighs like 140 lbs, I don't get it.

Jericholic82 Posted July 7, 2007 Report Posted July 7, 2007 I've been trying to quit drinking soda for about a month and a half. I can go for a week without it but I usually just break. Guest Vitamin X Posted July 7, 2007 Report Posted July 7, 2007 I should note I've essentially phased out any sort of carbonated drink save for beer (which is naturally carbonated through the fermentation process, so I guess that's SOMEWHAT better..) since I started this thread. It's actually come out a lot cheaper and better this way. Before my fridge's beverage supply would look something like beer, soda, water, orange juice. These days it's water, iced tea, orange juice, apple juice. I prefer my iced tea unsweetened with a lot of lemon wedges. It comes out a lot cheaper because you can buy a big box of tea bags from the supermarket for like a buck or two (roughly the price of say, a 2 liter and probably cheaper than a box of canned soda) and make a lot more than you would with soda. And, of course, it's healthier and has the same amount of caffeine (if not a little higher, depending on how strong you make it). If you miss the sugar, you can always sweeten it, too. There's this Mr. Coffee Iced Tea Maker (also makes iced coffee!) which is pretty awesome. You can get it at Target or any big box store for about $20.
St. Gabe Posted July 14, 2007 Report Posted July 14, 2007 SO, I go into my local 7-11 tonight, and I see this: Gross.
Red Baron Posted July 14, 2007 Report Posted July 14, 2007 That looks good, and probably sweet as anything. I did go over in the States yesterday and picked up Cherry Coke and Vanilla Coke.
Guest • Posted July 14, 2007 Report Posted July 14, 2007 7-Elevens are gross. White Hen Pantry all the way. Oh God, if they make watermelon Jolly Rancher soda, I will live on it. I WILL LIVE ON IT. That and Green River, but mostly the watermelon. I had watermelon pop at some Soft Drinks Of The World thing at Epcot in 2001. I didn't understand why it wasn't bigger here.
Guest Tzar Lysergic Posted July 14, 2007 Report Posted July 14, 2007 Because artificial watermelon is a molecule away from antifreeze.
Nighthawk Posted July 14, 2007 Report Posted July 14, 2007 One of the movie theaters around here has Watermelon Icees (except they aren't the official Icee). Pretty good. Also Diets excluded, I count ten varieties of Mountain Dew. Regular Red (the one from the 80s) Code Red Pitch Black Pitch Black 2 Livewire Baja Blast Amp Amp Overdrive MDX Plus several slurpee variations. They're not all just different sodas with the name attached, there is certain Mountain Dewishness to all of them. I thought that was a lot, but when I checked to see how many variations Pepsi had, it was a lot more. Check it out. I forgot all about Holiday Spice. I liked that stuff. I really like Pepsi a lot, I recently decided it was my favorite drink.
King Kamala Posted July 22, 2007 Report Posted July 22, 2007 Oh man, Holiday Spice that was some of the most vile shit that I've ever had the misfortune of drinking. Cinammon Pepsi doesn't seem like a terrible idea in principle but in execution, it was vile. There was this creepy British kid that was in my journalism class back in high school that swore by this stuff and he drank a two-liter of that crap everyday for like the two months it was out. Oh and Pepsi Blue, 2nd most vile shit I've had the misfortune of drinking.
Nighthawk Posted July 22, 2007 Report Posted July 22, 2007 I hope you get AIDS. Those were both great.
Red Baron Posted July 26, 2007 Report Posted July 26, 2007 Coke Zero is currently my favourite pop. Seriously, this shit is awesome.
Guest Vitamin X Posted July 28, 2007 Report Posted July 28, 2007 I suppose this would count. So, I'm at Hot Lips Pizza today (some of the best pizza in the area, local chain) and they have this ridiculously good blackberry soda. From their website (http://www.hotlipspizza.com/): HOTLIPS SODA has been on tap in our stores since summer of ’05. It is brewed one flavor at a time at in 200-gallon batches. The kegs are brewed in SE Portland and the bottles produced in McMinneville, OR at Dundee Fruit Co., our new partner in the HOTLIPS Soda enterprise. The soda is available in all the HOTLIPS stores and in various locales around the region. While most sodas add corn syrup for sweetener and are made from concentrate (not to mention the myriad chemical preservatives added), our soda is fresh pressed from local berries and fruits, cane sugar is added, balancing the acidity of the berries. The soda pop is rich, with explosive flavor from peak season fruits; positively dreamy. I haven't really been digging the traditional soda flavors lately, and when I did, diet coke was pretty much all I'd be down for. I have been enjoying the shit out of italian sodas and fruit sodas, weird stuff like that- the aforementioned blackberry soda was one of the more refreshing drinks I've had in quite some time. Did it have caffeine? Probably not. But iced tea is a hell of a lot better if I wanted something like that.
Guest Tzar Lysergic Posted July 28, 2007 Report Posted July 28, 2007 I wish a major soda company would start using cane sugar instead of high fructose venom. Tastes so much better.
Jorge Gorgeous Posted July 29, 2007 Report Posted July 29, 2007 I think it depends on your neighborhood. I live in SW Downtown, and hang out around the Pearl/NW 23rd, and sometimes close to Mississippi/Alberta and Belmont/Hawthorne. I did find one up in North Portland once, so I guess I lied, but looking at Wendy's store locator, there's none really in my vicinity. All I know of, of major fast food chains, is a 24 hour Taco Bell and 24 hour McDonald's on W Burnside. There's several other places, restaurants and fast food, open late that make those places expendable. Hell, we've got pizza that delivers until 4am. Healthy and vegetarian, too. Fuck a Wendy's. You must mean Hammy's
Guest Vitamin X Posted July 29, 2007 Report Posted July 29, 2007 I do mean Hammy's! Great fucking pizza.
Jorge Gorgeous Posted July 29, 2007 Report Posted July 29, 2007 I do mean Hammy's! Great fucking pizza. I'm gonna get myself some Hammy's right now!
Fuzzy Dunlop Posted February 5, 2008 Report Posted February 5, 2008 Chocolate Cherry Dr. Pepper is too chocolatey.
King Kamala Posted February 5, 2008 Report Posted February 5, 2008 I like chocolate and I like soda but chocolate soda just seems wrong.
Red Baron Posted February 5, 2008 Report Posted February 5, 2008 It's awful. I have never thrown a can of pop out ever until I tried this.
Nighthawk Posted February 5, 2008 Report Posted February 5, 2008 Chocolate cherry soda is good, when you get it from a soda fountain. That said, I ain't trying this.
Red Baron Posted February 5, 2008 Report Posted February 5, 2008 I miss Code Red Mountain Dew. Shit was awesome.
CanadianGuitarist Posted February 5, 2008 Report Posted February 5, 2008 Hells yes! That's old school. I didn't mind the chocolate Dr. Pepper. It's not something I'd buy often, but it was decent, and good for a lark.
King Kamala Posted February 5, 2008 Report Posted February 5, 2008 Chocolate cherry soda is good, when you get it from a soda fountain. Vanilla Coke is another soda a lot better in a soda fountain. The version actually produced by Coca Cola is good but it's just not the same.

Canadians on the board will know of Licks, one of which just opened in St. Catharines, featuring a soda fountain - I had a vanilla coke with whip cream along with my 200lb. burger and fries. Deelish.
