Just John 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2007 Well, it only took a week for Yao to get back to total domination. I think the time off is going to be great for the post-season, because conditioning won't be a huge issue. I also like JVG moving Chuck Hayes to the starting lineup and bringing Juwan Howard off the bench. T-Mac and Yao creating, Battier and Alston hitting the open shots, and Hayes doing all the dirty work. With Howard and Bonzi coming off the bench, there should be scoring options in at all times. The other day they beat the Wizards on their homecourt with Jamal Crawford, Quentin Richardson and David Lee. Not bad. And they're half a game behind the 7th spot. I don't know how many games they've won on last-second shots this year, not to mention all the injuries around the East (Shaq, Wade, Redd, Krstic, Jefferson, etc.). The problem is he is still the worst GM in the league and the extension keeps him in that role. He hasn't been as bad this year, but between coaching and the ultimatum from Dolan that they wouldn't take on salary, he hasn't had the opportunity to screw things up anymore. They've also lost a bunch of games on last second shots. And Q has been in and out of the lineup a bunch of times. Same with Francis. Jeffries started the season hurt. Lee has been out 7 straight games, and Crawford is now out for the year. Don't give me this injury stuff when everyone goes through injuries. We faced Shaq twice, and beat them twice. We faced Wade twice, and we split with them. We beat the Bucks with Redd twice. It's not just injuries. And cheech, theres no way in hell Isiah is the worst GM in the league with Ainge and McHale in the league. You look at Isiah's moves, the two bad ones have been the James signing, the Francis trade. alfdogg 0 Report post Posted March 12, 2007 I'm aware of how the Knicks have played against those teams, I was referring to how it's affected those teams, and how the Knicks have benefitted somewhat in the standings because of it. With good health, Miami and New Jersey would likely be at or near the top of their divisions, and Milwaukee would be in a similar spot as the Knicks. But it is what it is. I do still kind of think that the Knicks made a mistake cutting Rose and Taylor, just because they could have had their contracts to use at the deadline, maybe to get someone like Pau Gasol. The Rockets got pounded by Phoenix, though they hardly ever play them competively due to the speed differential. Now the Mavs are being mauled by their former coach. Ripper 0 Report post Posted March 14, 2007 Well, the Sixers just went and got the shit stomped out of them in Atlanta tonight. With some choice losses to other teams, Atlanta will be within 3 pretty soon. Joe Johnson being lost for the season is a big blow for sure, but the Hawks have been winning because of alot of injuries. The concussion Lowrenzen Wright suffered forced Mike Woodson to play Solomon Jones, who everyone with eyes watching the Hawks this year knows should have been playing instead of Wright anyway. His insertion into the starting lineup has given the Hawks a athletic shotblocker at the 5 and helps out Josh Smith. Speedy Claxton going down again with Tyronne Lue still being kinda hurt made him play Salim Stoudimire more, who has earned his PT. Plus with Joe out, he is forced to call actual plays instead of the "Give it to Joe and let him create" offense he had been running. Josh Smith has been playing out of his mind. Tonight he had 26 points 17 rebounds, 3 blocks, 4 steals, 5 assist...just a beast all over the court and this is becoming routine for the guy. Even after I'd gotten it straight in my mind that Green were the Bulls and white were the Celtics, it was still fucking me up. No one thought that was a bad move when they made it. Toronto got killed by everybody at the time for trading big for small. As for Stotts, he didn't have a healthy team this year, but even with Redd in the lineup they underachieved. They underachieved last year as well. I don't see the point in firing a guy at this juncture in the season (unless they want to give Kystowiak the job outright right now), but Stotts can't really put the blame on anyone else. The Bucks I think have made the playoffs 2 out of the last 3 years, and those were the seasons Ford played in. The only year he didn't play, they didn't make it.
