CanadianChris Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 Flagrant or not..Xavier still had their 2 shots at the line to ice it and then didn't defend the guy shooting a 3, it's thier fault. Asking the refs to make a call that completely decides the game isn't right and they shouldn't do it. Unless it was the right call.
2GOLD Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 You kinda got to call a flagrant when the guy lowers his shoulder and just levels a player. He wasn't going for the ball or nothing, he just slammed into him. I guess they figured him fouling out was enough. Xavier did blow the game on their own though with that pathetic display of offense and defense in the final two minutes of regulation.
CanadianChris Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 Having refereed university-level basketball, and watching Seth Davis' explanation of the Oden foul, I can say definitively that he has no idea what he's talking about. His saying that the officials would be saying Oden should be ejected from the game if they called an intentional is ridiculous. An intentional foul has nothing to do with the nature of the contact, and everything to do with whether or not he was making a play for the ball (which, from my viewpoint, he wasn't). If he wasn't making a play for the ball and just wanted to commit a foul to stop the clock, it's an intentional.

It's very rare for a player to get ejected for an intentional in a college game, unless it's a malicious foul. While not malicious, Oden's foul certainly was intentional (e.g., no play on the ball).
Guest Sabu Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 These Tournament games have been great so far today. Let's go Butler!
Corkscrew_Senton Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 Speaking of officiating, this one's been gift wrapped for Butler. What a crock.
Kurt Angle Mark Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 If Butler doesn't foul, I'll kill someone Edit: didn't have to
Kurt Angle Mark Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 The only thing bad about Gus Johnson is that when he is rooting for a team he clearly gives it away He is going crazy over this Sosa kid
iggymcfly Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 Edgar Sosa's playing just a spectacular game. Chanelling Taquan Dean in terms of an amazing tourney performance from a UL player.
Corkscrew_Senton Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 I can't get over how bad that charge call was on Maryland's second-to-last possession. The defender was 1. still moving 2. under the basket and 3. didn't give Strawberry a step.
Corkscrew_Senton Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 So is Gus Johnson from Ny or the Bronx? He is going crazy over this Sosa kid Gus Johnson is just nuts I think. He was awesome at the end of the XU-BYU game, just going completely ape shit over every made basket.
snuffbox Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 Yes, Maryland got dicked on that charge call. But they didn't play like they really wanted for most of the game so fuck him. It's the NCAA tournament and if you dont play like you want to keep playing then you dont deserve it anyway. They had plenty of chances and blew it.
Guest Eagle Man Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 Sosa blew that game. I think I just lost an 8.
AboveAverage484 Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 Was a fuckin' NBA three the best they could come up with? Surely that wasn't the play Pitino wanted.
Corkscrew_Senton Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 Sosa blew that game. I think I just lost an 8. snuffbox, I do agree. They looked pretty lethargic most of the way. And wow, way to pull up from 25-feet when you've scored most of your points at the foul line Sosa.
Edwin MacPhisto Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 Awesome game down the stretch there. Having basically just won a road game, A&M's looking good to go very, very far.
Kurt Angle Mark Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 Awesome game down the stretch there. Having basically just won a road game, A&M's looking good to go very, very far. And now they are going to San Antonio
Guest Queen Leelee Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 I swear, I should pick who I don't think will win. I'd do better.
snuffbox Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 Plenty on the shot clock, down by 1, what do you do? Throw up a really long 3! Christ.
snuffbox Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 Awesome game down the stretch there. Having basically just won a road game, A&M's looking good to go very, very far. And now they are going to San Antonio Unfair! Unfair! Unfair!
Vampiro69 Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 Awesome game down the stretch there. Having basically just won a road game, A&M's looking good to go very, very far. And now they are going to San Antonio Unfair! Unfair! Unfair! Just like Louisville as a #6 seed getting to play two home games just down the road at Rupp Arena?
snuffbox Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 Neither one is unfair. That post's sarcasm shouldn't have been that hard to discern even as a messageboard post.
Vampiro69 Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 Honestly, I did not pick up on the sarcasm. However, after looking at it again I can see that you were. My bad. If I didn't point it out someone else was going to.
snuffbox Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 Let's not forget about the Badgers playing 2 'home' games at the United Center.
Vampiro69 Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 Anyone else getting tired of the Chevy ads?
Edwin MacPhisto Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 I think that's the understatement of the year.
Guest Smues Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 The Cingular ads are also quite awful. As they are every year.
