DangerousDamon 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2007 I think Jay's partner might be Delirious.
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2007 I was thinking Delirious as well. Also will probably see Shelley and Sabin join Strong's group
Garth 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2007 Why would Shelley agree to team with Strong though? After everything thats gone on between Strong and himself it wouldn't make a whole lot of sense.
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2007 Sabin and Shelley, seem like a one night thing next month. Romero is the best fit for NRC.
HollywoodSpikeJenkins 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2007 I agree with Romero.
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2007 -Briscoe is out on the mic. Tonight it will be Jay & Delirious vs Sydal and Daniels. The match is up now. 1) Delirious & Jay Briscoe defeat Christopher Daniels and Matt Sydal when Delirious pinned Sydal. Daniels played a mega heel in this one. 2) Claudio Castagnoli defeats YAMATO. 3) Do or Die Match: Erick Stevens DESTROYS Mitch Franklin. -Larry Sweeney and Hero are out with Johnny Fairplay. 4) Nigel McGuinness defeated Chris Hero. Fairplay mauled with a lariat as well. -Davey Richards comes out and announced Rocky Romero as the new member of the NRC. 5) Jack Evans & Naruki Doi defeat Davey Richards & Rocky Romero when Jack hit the 630. 6) Homicide defeats Brent Albright via DQ when Pearce interferes 2 minutes in. Colt Cabana is out .... tag match! The 4 are brawling all over the place. 7) Colt Cabana & Homicide defeat Pearce and Albright after Cornette sprays Albright by mistake and Colt gets the pin. 8) Whitmer vs Jacobs in the cage has began. -Jimmy Jacobs has lost 2 teeth!! -Both guys spiked one another. 2 spikes and chair in the ring. -They are spiking one another at the same time over and over. -A barbed wire bat is out. -BJ is beginning to dominate. -Jimmy takes a sickening brainbuster on a chair from Whitmer. -A table has come in to play. -Lacey takes a piledriver! -Jacobs reverses a top rope powerbomb in to a rana! Jacobs puts BJ on a table and does a back senton off the top of the cage and gets the win! JIMMY JACOBS WINS THE FEUD AGAINST BJ WHITMER 9) Roderick Strong retains the FIP Championship over Austin Aries. Aries took a powerbomb on the rail and passed out in the Stronghold. 10) CIMA, Shingo & Susumu Yokosuka defeat Dragon Kid, Ryo Saito & Masaaki Mochizuki. Said to be a totally insane match. Garth 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2007 NRC lost against Jack & Doi. I can't help but feel that NRC should have won considering Romero just debuted in the group. Jacobs winning has pleased me greatly. He's quite an asset to ROH, I really hope he has evern better things to come in the future.
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2007 Full results are up. From the looks of it, looks like they put the cage match earlier because Jacobs went over and wanted to have the high flying match to close the show on a high. The cage match looks insane. Garth 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2007 From the sound of the cage match alone this is put in the must buy pile.
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2007 Jacobs losing teeth was sick. BJ also bled like a stuck pig, tons of emotion in the match, loved it. Strong vs Aries suffered having to follow it. It was solid, but was just put in a bad spot. After the shows, Evans, Whitmer, Nigle, and Jay were the best about hanging out and signing for fans. Jack and Nigle were far and away the best. Strong was a dick to a fan after a show asking for an autograph, total heel. And Rocky coming out as the new member of the NRC was VERY underwhelming to everyone there, no one cared. Rocky also got shit on the night before by the fans. Overall two very good shows. I think night 1 was slightly better.
tigeraid 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2007 Well what can I say, as always an unbelievable fuckin experience live. This card from top to bottom was awesome (except the squash match.) I too was worried that having the cage match so early blew us up for the rest of the night, but Aries/Strong really stepped up to the plate anyway. I dunno WHAT kind of heat Strong is getting yet, but it's working--he's full-on heel now. Watching the tooth fly out in person was pretty interesting--And you could also tell the barbed wire bat was really digging into em up close--they aren't faking getting ripped up by that. Honestly I enjoyed Aries/Strong the most of the "three main events" though. The Dragon Gate 6-Man was mind blowing as always, although there were a couple of times when (as usual) the ref forgot the Dragon Gate rules and messed up the flow of the match. I wish they'd just get a DG ref for these matches. I'm a Romero mark, so I was happy to see him as a "surprise" NRC member, but I agree his entrance was very underwhelming. He didn't even cut a promo. And if he's going to be a badass heel he ABSOLUTELY has to change that friggin' Cuban romance music he comes out to. Not even remotely imitating. I've posted my thoughts on Night 1 as well, but all in all an unbelievable weekend and I'm completely happy I went to this and not Wrestlemania. EDIT: oh, and by far the absolute best moment of the night was Nigel doing a short-arm lariat to Johnny Fairplay who was, as you can expect, not at all welcomed by the ROH crowd. The lariat was absolutely INSANE and folded him in half. Never heard a bigger single pop from a live crowd. "Here's what ROH thinks of a shitty has-been TNA manager." Oh and at some point every time Cornette or Daniels was out, there was a Fire Russo chant. Tits.
Garth 0 Report post Posted April 2, 2007 Looks like a bunch of injuries coming out of this weekends shows. Mark Briscoe & BJ Whitmer look to be out of the April shows. Jimmy Jacobs is going to be out of action for at least 6 months. That really sucks for him as he has a boatload of momentum coming off the big cage match win. The Newswire said he's going to carry on making appearances at the shows at least.
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted April 2, 2007 Damn, losing those guys, shortly after Dragon and Joe is not going to help them any. Make way for Shane Hagadorn!
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted April 2, 2007 Danielson is back in a few weeks and they got the NOAH guys coming in as well. That's the beauty of ROH. They always manage to plug holes in quite well.
Garth 0 Report post Posted April 2, 2007 It'll be interesting to see what they do with Danielson upon his return. Which NOAH guys are coming over besides Morishima?
King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2007 They've got another hole to plug pretty soon now. Cabana's final date is April 28th. Maybe deserves it's own thread, maybe not. EDIT: n/m, moved the rest to WWE folder since it's more relevant. Still, Cabana's going. Discuss?
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2007 Cabana isn't a gaping hole. Jacobs, Whitmer and Rave being out is much more damaging. However, again, the NOAH and DG guys along with Danielson returning soothes things.
King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2007 I wouldn't say Cabana was a 'gaping' hole either, but he was a great utility player, in that they could put him anywhere on the card and expect a great reaction regardless of it being one of the multi-man matches or the main event. Plus he was a regular. The Japanese guys aren't. The good thing is, it gives a chance for ROH to test out some new talent now. It's not like there aren't guys around even just the US scene like Generico, Steen, M-Dogg 20 who they've already tried out and the CHIKARA contingent they're going to be trying out. Plus there's PAC if they can get him in from England. Might be a case of going through a 'regeneration period' at the bottom of the card and seeing who clicks while they rely on the Dragon Gate and NOAH stars to fill out the top. Garth 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2007 I'd love for Claudio to get some sort of substantial push out of all this. It feels like he has done absolutely nothing since he was supposed to leave for the WWE and that whole mess. Hopefully this will also lead to Shelley and Sabin becoming more regular members of the roster, they'd be most useful at the upper end of the card. Shelley more so than Sabin. I do think Sabin could be effective but it all depends on how he's presented when he comes back in.
