Guest Queen Leelee Report post Posted April 14, 2007 Other than Buffalo, I'm cheering most for Ottawa. Partially because they're definitely the 2nd best team in the East. Mostly because I want them to suffer. I just wish their biggest fan here wasn't Chris. I want ammo. In the West, I still have to go with Detroit. Always gotta pull for Hasek. I'd be betting on Pittsburgh tomorrow, because I'll be at the game, and I've never seen a home team win a playoff game when I've been in attendance.
Guest Report post Posted April 14, 2007 I'm cheering for the Stars, as awful as that sounds. I'd like Avery to get into the 2nd round with the Rangers and run Briere right through the boards. I like the rest of the Sabres, but not him. He bugs.
Guest Eagle Man Report post Posted April 14, 2007 The opposite is being a Devils' fan, who couldn't even fill that dank pit 2/3 full for their 1st playoff game. We'll see who's laughing when they have their 4th Parking Lot Victory Parade! It's almost as if success makes the Devils more of a Mickey Mouse organization. Guest Queen Leelee Report post Posted April 14, 2007 909 just hates little balls of grit and determination. But, Dani might be out of Game 2 since he dinged his ankle in Game 1. But, it's Briere, you know he'll fight through it. Game 2 tonight! And I'll be able to watch with the Buffalo homer feed. I'm sure Jeanneret will have me clawing my ears out by the first Buffalo goal.

Red Baron 0 Report post Posted April 14, 2007 Indeed, but they gotta keep Ottawa shot total to a minimum, because Fleury can't keep standing on his head throughout this whole series

CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2007 Rick DiPietro just made one of the best saves I've ever seen. Buffalo's down 2-0. Pierre Macguire: "Sometimes we're too quick to praise a team. A lot of us were praising Buffalo as the team to go all the way" This came with 50 minutes to play in this game.

CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2007 Some observations: - Loudest crowd I've ever seen at Scotiabank Place. - Sens dominated the play in the first two periods for the most part, but they were bad on the power play and on their odd-man rushes. Not having a 2 or 3 goal cushion in the third, as they should have, turned out to be decisive. - Armstrong should be suspended. All he does is run goalies. He didn't even try to let up, just barreled right into Emery and bowled him over into the net. That kind of goalie interference should be a major penalty. - I really can't stand the fanbase in this town. Listening to the postgame show, it was disgusting how many fans said the Sens had just lost the series. I mean, WTF is that? You lose one game and all of a sudden it's all over? Game 1 didn't happen now? Give me a fucking break.

Red Baron 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2007 I believe all idiotic fan bases are like this. Hell when Buffalo was on that mini losing skid in January, fans were saying that they wont make the playoffs.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2007 Every one of the top four seeds in the East lost home ice advantage.
Guest Report post Posted April 15, 2007 It's like the West was last year. I think that DiPietro showed tonight that he was worth the money that he gets paid per year, but not the length of the contract. Well, nobody is worth the length of that deal. Rick could very easily steal this series for the Island Boys.
fairtoflair7 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2007 I told you guys that if Rick plays for the Isles, they have a chance. He showed that tonight with 2 ridiculous saves , one on Vanek and the other on Campbell at point blank range. Big win by the Isles and now the advantage is at the Barn. Lets Go Islanders
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2007 Indeed he could.
Guest Queen Leelee Report post Posted April 15, 2007 Sabres were asleep in the 1st period, and couldn't come back. They're still winning this. Let's try being more professional, though.
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2007 Still have Buffalo in five, but this is playoff hockey. You never know what is going to happen.
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2007 Did anyone see Tampa Bay's first goal tonight against Jersey. Perfection is an understatement. Simply amazing.
Guest Queen Leelee Report post Posted April 15, 2007 Sabres still have a huge speed and talent advantage. When the Sabres are skating and winning their share of loose pucks, they're the superior team. But, now, they've opened up the chance of DiPietro stealing the series. Unlikely, since I don't think he's in that level of goaltender. But, Sabres' fans are well aware of how a goaltender alone can takeover a series. This is the playoffs. We can't rely on outscoring teams by only playing 40-50 minutes like we did in the regular season. Grar. Bad, bad loss.
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2007 I saw one of the Isles goals in the first period, that weird deflection goal that Miller had no idea where the puck was, other than that Buffalo ran into a hot goaltender.
Guest Report post Posted April 15, 2007 But, now, they've opened up the chance of DiPietro stealing the series. Unlikely, since I don't think he's in that level of goaltender. With that defensive system, he definitely is.

treble 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2007 I don't think many people thought DiPietro wasn't worth the money, it was just the length that people laughed at. And they hired their back-up goalie to be their GM. And they're in the playoffs and the Leafs aren't.

With that defensive system, he definitely is. Bang on. There's a reason he was drafted first overall. Well, Rick's not the only guy that I feel that way about, just to note. I think every goaltender besides Johan Holmqvist could steal a series for their respective clubs. Rick just plays a style that can be unbeatable. If he gets into the zone, he could carry the Isles deep. His reflexes are top notch. New York's group of forwards isn't all that bad either. As long as they stick to their game and throw the body like Sillinger and Hunter have been, they will have a chance. This is is the same team that gave up on Luongo, in order to even give DiPietro his chance. Mad Mike indeed, lol. Did anyone else know that the original trade with the Kings that allowed the Islanders to get rid of Palffy didn't even have Jokinen in it, which would have made that Luongo deal never take place? The original Isles-Kings Palffy trade was something like Scott Barney and cash for Palffy, but Bettman vetoed it because the Isles weren't getting anything of substance. The Isles would have never had Jokinen to trade with Luongo for all that junk, essentially rendering that trade dead. The Isles would have never had DiPietro, and this series would never be taking place as I type this post. And we would have had Jokinen and Dave Taylor would have never have had to have been fired. Just some useless information.
