TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 Now the Giambino. 9-2 in the 6th.
Guest Richard McBeef Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 MARK BUEHRLE HAS A NO-HITTER THROUGH EIGHT I SURE HOPE HE GETS THAT NO-HITTER wrong. I hope the Rangers break up the no-hitter. Haha, the Cubs are so gonna blow this 6-5 lead. The Cubs are bad.
vivalaultra Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 I'm really loving the Astros' lineup and pitching right now. After starting out the season going 1-5, they've gone 6-1 their last 7 games to get a game over .500. Carlos Lee's the best offseason signing in baseball so far, knocking in 17 runs in the first 13 games. The bench is playing good; especially Mike Lamb and Mark Loretta (who I still think is a good hitter). The pitching staff is great, too, with 9 quality starts in 13 games (should be 10 quality start; Chris Sampson went 5 shutout innings against the Cubs). With Carpenter going down, the Cubs being the Cubs, and Ben Sheets gettin' knocked around in his last two starts, I think the 'Stros might have the best team in the NL Central over the first two weeks.
Guest Richard McBeef Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 7-6 Atlanta. The Cubs are, in fact, bad.
TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 "Richard McBeef"....wow...
vivalaultra Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 7-6 Atlanta. The Cubs are, in fact, bad. Check that. 8-6 Atlanta. I agree with you on the second part, however.
Guest Richard McBeef Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 The second run came in after I posted. Shitty night for Chicago sports.
Guest Smues Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 Don't worry, Mark Redman pitches tomorrow.
vivalaultra Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 Nah, it's not THAT bad. Buerhle's got a no-no going.
Guest Richard McBeef Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 Shitty night for Chicago sports if you don't do meth and wear jorts.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 This would be the first no-hitter in new Comiskey Park.
vivalaultra Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 Shitty night for Chicago sports if you don't do meth and wear jorts. Ah shit...not the jorts, dawg!
Guest Smues Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 And he does it. Good for him I suppose. But it would have been more fun to see him give up a hit with 2 outs in the 9th, if only because the reaction from the idiot sox announcers could be classic.
Guest Richard McBeef Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 Game's on CSN, so I didn't hear Hawk, but Farmer sounded pretty funny.
Guest Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 Bet that's the only bright spot of their season.
vivalaultra Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 Ok, so when Anibal Sanchez got his last year, we calculated that it was the first rookie no-hitter since Bud Smith. So, quick-when was the last no-hitter by an overweight, medicore left-hander that was undeservingly invited to an All-Star game the previous year?

Buehrle's got a .595 win percentage and he had two great seasons before a subpar outing last year. He's hardly mediocre.
vivalaultra Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 Yeah, I know. I was just making a crack to try and get Czech to feel better about the Cubs. Beurhle's an above average pitcher, but he totally shouldn't have been an All-Star last year.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 White Sox fans rejoice... all of one, me!

Beurhle's an above average pitcher, but he totally shouldn't have been an All-Star last year. I disagreed. I simply believe that half a season's worth of statistics is a ridiculous way of picking All Stars.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 For those of you with Comcast Philly, I notice that they often come back from commercial breaks late enough to miss a pitch. Anyone else notice?

Guest Richard McBeef Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 I think everything after the last All-Star Game should be taken into consideration as well.

I simply believe that half a season's worth of statistics is a ridiculous way of picking All Stars. How should All-Stars be selected then. The best players at each position. The problem is that a half-season is not a significant sample. I think you need to look at the last two years or so to determine the best players. An All-Star berth should be something you earn.
vivalaultra Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 Now that the topic of All-Stars comes up, I would like to point out that starting today, you can vote on-line for your representatives to the 2007 All-Star Game to be held in beautiful AT&T Field in picturesque San Francisco by the bay.
Guest Queen Leelee Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 The problem is that if you include the last half of the prior season, and if you still have fan voting, teams from the playoff would have a strong advantage. And David Eckstein would be your NL starting SS.

EVIL~! alkeiper Posted April 19, 2007 Report Posted April 19, 2007 For the record, here's what my ballot would look like. American League C: Joe Mauer 1B: Travis Hafner 2B: Brian Roberts SS: Derek Jeter 3B: Alex Rodriguez OF: Manny Ramirez OF: Vladimir Guerrero OF: Grady Sizemore National League C: Brian McCann 1B: Albert Pujols 2B: Chase Utley SS: Rafael Furcal 3B: Miguel Cabrera OF: Jason Bay OF: Carlos Beltran OF: Andruw Jones Except for one or two positions, it'll stay that way through June.
