The four way should be lots of fun but the tag match sets up a major possibility for a mammoth screw up. Those titles have been built up so well by LAX, the last thing they need to do now is have a quick switch and that possibility exist really big there.

As well as taping Team 3D vs Christian Cage & Abyss at tonight’s iMPACT TV tapings in Orlando, TNA will also be taping a second Tag Team Title match tonight involving Team 3D, LAX, and possibly a third tag team. That match is being taped in the second hour tonight, which will air on TV next week.

Wrestlemag

Looks like Team 3D will at least make it past Christian and Abyss with the tag titles, but could be dropping them in the second hour. Either way. I don't foresee a long title reign for them.

I can see them defending their titles for both matchs. TNA needs to establish Team 3D as an actual threat in the tag team division, cause lets face it, they just jobbed to LAX for the entire fued save lockdown.

Major spoiler for the second hour:

TNA is currently taping Impact in Orlando, Florida and announced that the second hour (airdate 4/26) will be headlined by the first-ever match featuring Kurt Angle vs. Sting with Sting's Sacrifice NWA title shot hanging in the balance.

-PWInsider

Kurt Angle vs. Sting could have drawn some buys, so it makes perfect TNASense to give it away for free.

Does the match go the distance or does it end in 3 minutes with a run in from Abyss and a save from Christopher Daniels? Does Mike Tenay make his "I'm serious and disgusted" face and does Don West yell alot at the big moves? And after the whole main event scene runs in does Jim Cornette come out for a town hall meeting to set up the King of the Mountain match for the next PPV?

Whats so ridiculous about giving those matches away is that doing such doesnt jump the rating up more than before - until TNA really fires off on all cylanders and MARKETS their product the right way, no more or less people are really going to tune into the shows, if you ask me.

On the flip side, since they dont get any extended viewership, they might as well do whatever since it isnt going to matter anyway. It's not like Raw hasnt hotshotted big matches just a week or two in advance, didn't really go full tilt with the match, and was still able to really push it hard on a big ppv (HBK v. Cena from last year comes to mind as an example). Even putting that on ppv really isn't going to draw many more fans than the norm as TNA is just basically stuck with little to no upward movement right now until the shows have a "catch" and they really market the everlasting hell out of their product to the masses.

Well, I gotta admit - alot of stuff in that first hour taping.....

Daniels is being clearly groomed for a feud with Sting later in the spring/summer.

Jarrett as EY's friend? Makes sense since there was something going on there with those two before JJ left. Where they go from here with it all (Roode v. Jarrett?) is beyond me though.

So is this Abyss' official face turn or yet another tease?

It doesnt make sense any of Cage's "guys" are in fact his since they all made it clear they just wanted a title shot and nothing more. Now that the opportunity isn't there anymore, what gives?

Impact 4/19

-Mike Tenay is in the ring and he brings Jeff Jarrett out for an interview. Tenay talks about the guitar shot on Abyss and wonders what happened to Jarrett over the last six months. Jarrett said he appreciates the warm reception from the crowd. He explains why he let Sting take the title match at Sacrifice, saying he had time to reflect on everything and realized he needed to change because things don't always need to revolve around the King of the Mountain. He says it's time for him to give back the way Sting has given back during his time in TNA. Jarrett says their career have paralleled for the last 20 years. Jarrett said there are three steps towards giving back to wrestling - the first step was Impact last week, the second step was the Lethal Lockdown, and step three will shock everyone.

-Kurt Angle came to the ring and asked Jarrett if he came back to TNA to make things right. Angle said he was ridiculed by everyone for having Jarrett on his team for the Lethal Lockdown. He said he put everything on the line to have Jarrett on the team and then Jarrett goes and hands Sting a NWA title match. Jarrett says that he will be putting things right between he and Angle like he did he and Sting and the business is all about timing. Angle says that it's not the right time. Jarrett says that perhaps Angle should be talking to Sting then.

-Sting comes to the ring and asks if Angle with the way Sting got the title match or just a problem with Sting overall. He says that he's been dealing with Abyss the last few month and points out that Angle has been acting like he's the leader among the wrestler, but Angle's only been wrestling for 10 years compared to Sting's 20 years. He said that people like Sting and Jarrett paved the way in the business. He said that without people like them, Angle would be a gold medal winning gym teacher. Sting says that problems should be solved in the middle of the ring and challenges Angle to meet him next week on Impact, putting the Sacrifice title match on the line.

-Robert Roode defeated Chris Harris. Before the match, Harris and Gail Kim come to the ring. Jackie Moore attacks Kim and they brawl through the crowd. James Storm comes out and watches the match. Harris had the match one but Ms. Brooks pulled the referee out of the ring. As the referee and Harris were distracted by Brooks and Storm. Roode nailed Harris with the handcuffs he usually brings to the ring and pinned him. After the match, Brooks and Tracy Brooks argue on the floor. Young pushes Brooks down. Roode slapped Eric and teased fighting in the ring. Roode says that he's tired of Young making a fool out of him and asks Young how it felt watching Roode beat up his "friend" at Lockdown. Young says that Petey wasn't the friend he met. Roode says Young has seven days to tell him who the "friend" is or he's fired.

-Christopher Daniels defeated Samoa Joe, AJ Styles and Rhino in a Four Way after Daniels struck Rhino. Rhino went for the Gore but Daniels hit him with a bat and pinned him. Four minute match.

-In a segment that was actually filmed for the second Impact episode [airdate 4/26], Robert Roode demands to know who Eric Young's friend is. Young says that Roode has everything and all Young has is professional wrestling. He tells Roode that he can fire him because he won't break his word. Roode demands to know who the friend is again. Young punches Roode. Ms. Brooks attacks Young from behind, so she gets a powerbomb for her troubles. Roode attacks Young with a chair, busting him open. Roode goes to handcuff Young and demands to know who the friend is. Jeff Jarrett hits the ring and brawls with Roode. Brooks tries to low blow Jarrett, but he blocks it. Jarrett clobbers her with the guitar, which the place goes nuts for.

-LAX comes out to the announcing table for the next match.

-NWA Tag Team champions Team 3D defeated Christian Cage and Abyss in their first title defense after a 3D clean on Abyss. After the match, Cage was browbeating Abyss. Abyss grabbed him for a chokeslam. Mitchells demands Abyss let Cage go. Abyss teases Shock Treatment but Mitchell again tells him to release the hold. Mitchell finally strikes Abyss. Scott Steiner, AJ Styles, and Tomko all attack Abyss. Abyss begins fighting back. Mitchell tries to "call the authorities" about Abyss' mother, but Abyss slams the phone out of his hand and hits him with the Black Hole Slam. Abyss goes outside the ring to retrieve thumbtack, which gives Cage's team a chance to recover and attack Abyss. Cage nails Abyss with a chair, busting him. It was a gusher. Everyone took turns nailing Abyss with a chair. Styles gets a barbed wire bat from under the ring and they use it on Abyss. They put the barbed wire against Abyss's head, then drilled him with a conchairto. They left Abyss destroyed and he was treated by medical staff.

Xplosion/TNA Today Match:

-Jerry Lynn pinned Havoc with a cradle piledriver.

Impact 4/24:

-The first-ever Sting vs. Kurt Angle went to a double disqualification when Team Cage attacked both at about 3:13. Cage attacked Angle with a chair while Steiner locked the Steiner Recliner on the floor on Sting. Tomko and Styles held Angle against the ropes as Cage beat him with a chair. They drilled Angle with a DDT on the chair. Sting hit the ring with a chair, running off Team Cage. They put Angle in a neckbrace and he did a stretcher job.

-In a "Sabin Suicide Stampede", where the winning team would get a X-Division title shot in a Three-Way bout against Sabin at Sacrifice, Jay Lethal and Sonjay Dutt defeated Jerry Lynn & Petey Williams, Senshi & Shark Boy, and Alex Shelley & Kaz. Sabin came out to watch from ringside. Lethal pinned Kaz with the top rope elbowdrop. Kevin Nash came to the ring to congratulate them, but Dutt walked off when Nash entered the ring.

-Dave Penzer announces that because of what happened tonight, NWA champion Christian Cage would defend against Sting tonight with the stipulation that if any member of Team Cage interferes, Cage would be DQ'd and Sting would win the title.

-LAX came back out to the announce table.

-NWA Tag Team champions Team 3D defeated Tomko and Scott Steiner. Hernandez pulled the ropes down on Tomko, who crashed out of the ring. Homicide tried to hit a hurrancanrana off the top on Tomko but was caught. The angle appeared to be LAX didn't want 3D to lose the belts to anyone but them. After the match, Homicide and Hernandez brawled with Steiner and Tomko.

Xplosion/TNA Today Match:

-Alex Shelley & TNA X-Division champion Chris Sabin defeated Senshi & Petey Williams. Best match of the night.

-NWA champion Christian Cage defeated Sting, DQ. Angle returns in the neckbrace and attacks Cage, getting Sting DQ's. He gives Cage an Angleslam. Tomko, Styles, and Steiner come out and pull Cage out of the ring. Sting hits Angle with a bat, leaving him laying and walks out.

Notes: Sean Waltman was in attendance...the next taping is Monday, 4/28.

Well Sting/Angle was about as I expected - pretty much nothing.

What is the reasoning to do Sting v. Christian on either Xplosion (which is REALLY messed up) or the same Impact as Angle/Sting? Or was this a three week taping? *confused*

For what its worth, I thought the first hour taping has SOME semblance of direction and structure, but it looked like the rest of the tapings just went in the shitter real nice and deep.

It drives me nuts that they would even allow Sting and Angle to touch each other before their ppv main event.

Yes the match was a nothing tease...but COME ON....

STING one of the biggest faces of WCW vs. ANGLE one of the best performers of the last decade...

That sells some shows.

They should have done a slow build and not let them get physical until a ppv main event.

Those are the 2 biggest names TNA has EVER had compete in their ring...

I'd pay.

The tapings are all over the place which says to me that it might come off better on TV when it's all edited together.

But at least i was right about Team 3D defending their titles on both shows :P

I cant see why everyones bitching about Sting/Angle, christ. You all complained when they DIDNT have PPV calibur matches on impact, now there trying and you complain.

And dont give me the "they need more buyrates for money" bullshit argument that HTQ pulls everytime. If no one watches the free tv show, there not gonna pay for the PPV. Advertising matches of this calibur on free tv can atract in new viewers who will then (hopefully, in theroy) buy the PPV. Even if it's for the rematch, especially if it will be a full match with an eventual winner.

And dont give me the "ratings remain the same and will go up .1" bullshit argument that HTQ pulls everytime. At least there trying.

So what "bullshit" arguments does that leave us? You took away every correct argument there is to be made.

If someone is unable to see why giving away the the first ever Kurt Angle/Sting match for free is a bad move, they're a lost cause. Save your time for someone with a clue.

Look im not saying its brilliant. All im saying is that if you dont headline your flgship show with your top stars then no one will watch the show. Personally, i wouldn't have picked Angle/Sting, its a bad move. But you're all making it out to be that the company is going bring about the apocalypse because of it.

You can do Angle vs Steiner (since it's already been used on PPV) and Sting vs Abyss and you'd still feature the "stars" without having to give away money (in relation to TNA anyways) matches for free. Simple as that.

Thank you, i just wanted a sensible answer from someone.

Yes the match was a nothing tease...but COME ON...

The fact that it was "a nothing tease" makes it worse if you think about it. The entire point of announcing the match the week before (in TV land that is) was to get the fans at home excited, to get word going around that one of the true dream matches is going to take place on the following show. It was done as a ratings ploy, and it might work. However, if they do get a few fans to tune in to the show with Angle/Sting on it, once they see that it wasn't anything more than a tease, it's going to piss off those people who tuned in to see the dream match, to see those two major figures go head to head. This is the type of bullshit that hurts a company, and turns people off of wanting to tune in once again.

Then with all of that, the TNA morons go and give another PPV match, a match that they're actually promoting for PPV, on free TV. The very same show that they just fucked around with Angle/Sting.

With the state that TNA is in right now, if they're stupid enough to promote a match like Kurt Angle vs. Sting on Impact, then they sure as fuck better provide just that to the audience.

Why do you care if TNA gives away good matches for free, you don't work for them. I just want to be entertained by TNA and that seems to be impossible nowadays, ppv caliber matches or not.

Do people who say this sort of thing ever think about what they're actually saying?
