4 1/3, 4ER 5 K? Not too bad, I guess.

John Smoltz signed an extension w/ the Braves through 2010. Hall of famer? I think so.

I just sense the Os are going to blow this game..

They cant get an extra run across to save themselves and at 2-1 in the bottom of the 7th..I can just feel em blowing it.

Gary Thorne must be dyslexic..In Game Score Box!

That would be something if he gets to within one of the record and just gets an IBB every at-bat for the rest of the season.

What is this, Japan?

Beckett sucks when he doesn't get his 11.5 runs a game support from the Boston offense..

Ok..maybe not suck..but he's losing 2-0 in the 6th and so far Adam Loewen is outpitching him.

IM A HUGE JINX! YAY!

How can anyone blame Beckett for not getting run support? 8 In. 2 ER is pretty solid if you ask me.

Oh and Thanks Wily Mo Pena :)

The past week WMP has been the local whipping boy by the Media and Talk Radio...tomorrow he's a god again. Love Boston!

WMP hit a meatball that even highschool hitters would have driven quite a bit.

Wily Mo should however be invited to a Home Run Derby competition one day. When he gets ahold of one it goes into orbit.

Alexander only with a SB so far. The Yankees suck. And why is Mientkiewicz batting 2nd.

The D-Backs return to their losing ways thus far. And why the fuck does Tony Clark still play semi-regularly in MLB.

John Sterling sounds so depressed. It's funny.

He sounds like he wants to kill himself, talking about how well A-Rod's doing defensively this year. 'He's really throwing the ball well.'

I don't blame him. He hasn't seen this for about 15 years or so.

I'm watching the YES Network feed. I love listening to Al Leiter on commentary.

I wonder if the sky is now falling for Yanks fans seeing as how their major pitching prospect got whooped.

He pitched pretty well for his first major league start. The only guys who hit him hard were Wells and Rios. Other than that, he struck out 5 in 4 and 1/3, had a nasty curve, a pretty good changeup, and spotted his fastball well (only walked 1). He's looking good.

EDIT: I love Al Leiter talking some sense into Michael Kay with some of the dumbass comments he makes. You know what i'm talking about if you listen to the broadcast.

Eight innings, two earned runs is solid in any book. Marvin is just sad b/c everything he loves either blows a lead or gets herpes.

"I'm pissed now, Jobu. Look, I go to you. I stick up for you. You no help me now, I say, fuck you, Jobu. I do it myself."

If he was looking at the bat in that picture, he'd look EXACTLY like Cerrano did in that scene.

And do only like 5-10% of Major League teams actually have a decent bullpen this year?

The aggregate ERA for MLB so far this season is 4.11. The AL is at 4.31 and the NL at 3.94. That places offense at its lowest level since 1992. It's still early though and many games were played in unfavorable baseball conditions. Bullpen ERAs across baseball are at 3.78. These too are lower than last year.

What world do we live in when people get upset when a hall of fame broadcaster openly rips the team he calls? We got enough bland homers on other broadcasts, apparently people want more.

Marty Brennaman went on a tirade (rightfully) about the atrocious fielding from Cincinnati and how the team hasn't shown a lick of improvement with fundamentals in spite of the persistance from the club that they would focus on it. Ended with "If they don't care, why should I?", this somehow pissed people off. How? I have no clue. Marty's always been candid and harsh when he feels its needed so this isn't the first time he's done this and he'll do it again and again but it's stupid that anyone can be bothered by his honest and accurate commentary here.

Go get 'em, Marty. The colorful tough-love homer is a dying breed, being replaced by white-bread company men like Joe Buck. Harry Caray and Jimmy Piersall ripped the hell out of the White Sox (as Harry did with the Cards and Cubs as well) and lost their jobs as a result, as did Steve Stone with the Cubs. They're saying what we're thinking, and we as fans of our respective teams should applaud them for it, but more importantly, so should team owners and general managers.

The tough-love homer is annoying as hell with Mike Breen. The Knicks aren't doing well, but shut the hell up with the same shit every night. We get it. And it seems like he loves the other team.

He's probably under my bed. I was looking for my socks this morning. I looked everywhere and couldn't find em. Sure enough, they were right there under my bed.

No word on Aybar's whereabouts. According to Paul Hagen in the Philadelphia Inquirer, agent Luis Valdez stated his client was dealing with "drinking and drugs." So much for P.R. 101.

Luckily, the new owners like him and won't work to drive him out and they have gone as far to make sure he gets the credit he deserves and when Marty finally hangs the hat, they've basically have his son whom doesn't appear to be much different (at least from what I've noticed since coming over to the Reds call). The pairing of Jeff Brantly and Marty is great. No Buckism going on there.

Eric Milton is working on the theory that if he gives up a bunch of runs right out of the gate, the bullpen can't blow it again.

Everytime I see Milton up there, I think the Knicks owners were the previous regime.
