Guest Report post Posted May 2, 2007 CALDER MEMORIAL TROPHY (outstanding rookie): Evgeni Malkin, Penguins. No Kopitar as a Finalist? FUCK THAT SHIT. FRANK J. SELKE TROPHY (outstanding defensive forward): Samuel Pahlsson, Ducks. Easiest pick. HART MEMORIAL TROPHY (most valuable player to his team): Sidney Crosby, Penguins. JACK ADAMS AWARD (outstanding coach): Alain Vigneault, Canucks. JAMES NORRIS MEMORIAL TROPHY (outstanding defenseman): Nicklas Lidstrom, Red Wings. Most underrated player in the history of hockey? I'd say so. LADY BYNG MEMORIAL TROPHY (sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct):Joe Sakic, Avalanche. LESTER B. PEARSON AWARD (most outstanding player as voted by fellow members of the NHLPA): Vincent Lecavalier, Lightning. I'd pick him for the Hart if he was a finalist. He is the best player in hockey. VEZINA TROPHY (outstanding goaltender): Roberto Luongo, Canucks.
LaParkaMarka 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2007 They really need to get rid of the Lady Byng. It's just wrong. I don't think anyone here hates Pronger, he's just easy to spot on the ice.

CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2007 And that should do it for this game. Josh Green high-sticked Selanne. He bled. 5 on 3 for thirty seconds, then close to 4 minutes of power play. Edit: The powerplay is offset by, of all things, too many men on the ice for Anaheim. Double edit: I take back the 'that should do it for this game'. I've only been casually watching/typing amongst doing dishes. I thought I heard Hughson say the game, not theseries was 2-1 Anaheim.
Guest Queen Leelee Report post Posted May 2, 2007 I think the lose of Game 2 might have been a good thing for the Rangers. They learned that they can stay with this team. Both teams did what they had to though, they held home ice. Now it's up to the Rangers to see if they can steal home ice, and up to the Sabers to try to make sure that doesn't happen. This series has become a best of 3 now, and as a Rangers fan I can only hope that they have enough left in them to be able to take the next two games. With all respect to the Rangers, they shouldn't be staying with the Sabres, let alone playing the better hockey for most of the game. Like what's happened with the last 3 games. The Sabres still have the huge speed and athletic advantage, but they're not properly attempting to use it. And the Rangers are very disciplined now on defense. That's where they've improved since the last time the Sabres played them. I expect the Sabres will play with the desperation they've shown in the last period of the prior 3 games, for the entire game. Which still is no guarantee to win. I sort of hope Lundqvist steals 2 of the next 3 so the Sabres realize they pissed this series away, and I go batshit insane.

Red Baron 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2007 I remember discussing that. Which city are they in? Niagara Falls, St. Catharines, or another? I think those were the only two with OHL-approved arenas. Good relocation, as this takes the St. Mike's Majors out of that embarrassing practice rink they used for home ice. "IceDogs" is a pathetic minor-league name, though. I'd have gone with the Falls or the Frontiers. Kinda like the Saska Tunes. In other minor matters, the Chicago Blackhawks have moved their AHL affiliation out of Norfolk and over to Rockford, where the IceHogs (another awful name!) will move up from the UHL. They are in St. Catharines, but the arena is shitty, like the St. Mikes Majors. All the arena's are horrible in the Niagara region, except for Fort Erie. They are also changing their name too since that was part of the deal to bring them down here as well.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2007 Awesome game. Awesome crowd -- my ears are still ringing. Heatley and Alfredsson are just ripping John Madden to little pieces. I've said it before, but it bears repeating...WE NEVER USED TO WIN THESE GAMES. Before, we'd give up a goal in the final minute and lose in overtime. Or give up two late goals. Not this year. My wife and I are flirting with the idea of travelling down to New Jersey to see Game 5. I can't imagine we'd be able to make a road trip to either Buffalo or MSG in the conference finals, given those teams' fans usually produce sellouts.
Guest Queen Leelee Report post Posted May 3, 2007 No. You Canadiens stay up there. Or we're gonna tangle. Edit: Oh. At the Devils. Good Luck. Please don't assume all our buildings are as ugly as that, though.
Zetterberg is God 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2007 Yep, Sharks got the early lead. Detroit's PP is looking good but unless they score it doesn't fucking matter.
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2007 Hasek is the only reason why they are losing the series. His style of goaltending basically cost the team two victories.
Guest Queen Leelee Report post Posted May 3, 2007 I'm not watching. What's wrong with Hasek's goaltending style. That wasn't wrong 10 years ago when he was the Unbeatable God.

Zetterberg is God 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2007 How does Lang do it? Plays like shit most of the time yet the two goals he's scored have been huge. Come on boys, let's win this one and take back the power.
CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2007 And I'm going to call mitigating circumstances on Heatley, at least for the World Cup. I think that's fair, and in fact, I did a column my second year of college defending him, but, and I hope this doesn't sound to shitty, he's got a lot to prove this spring. Boy, you're not kidding. He doesn't have any more excuses. I'm hoping he won't need any. Judging by his recent play, it doesn't look like it, but we'll see. CC and I had this back-and-forth about a year ago. We can officially remove any tag from Heatley, I think.
