It was. He mentions at some point that dogs are immune to the airborn strain.

Also, when he's in the car, he is discussing it with his wife. She asks if it has "Jumped", and he replies "Yes", which freaks her out and is why the soldiers are wearing mouth-covers, as well as why they are trying to cut off Manhattan so quickly.

Agreed. Even if you don't have an overall familiarity with his music, not having heard of him at all is slap-worthy.

Liked the movie a lot. My only problem with the ending was that I didn't care for the lady and the kid. So the sacrifice didn't do it for me
